Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond

My daughter and I had the most fabulous time here! The views from the living space are breathtaking and the pond is warm and clear. We spent most of the time enjoying the water using a canoe, tire, paddle board and just swimming. Claudine was a fantastic host and went well above and beyond. The space was clean, the bed and bedding very comfortable and the dry flush toilet was an added bonus. Everything was supplied that we needed. We left refreshed and will be back 100%. Thanks for hosting us!

Weekend Trip to Milk Thistle Farm

Such a cozy and lovely little spot to go camping for the first time! Krystine was super accommodating and it was such a great time. We got the s'mores add on and there was firewood leftover for us to use- we just had to return the favor for the next guests to use. Definitely plan on coming again soon :)

1 night at Goodfield Farm Rustic Camping

Very secluded camp site. The stars were beautiful and I don’t think I’ve ever seen more in my life. There was a fire pit with plenty of fire wood. The pit had a grill to cook on and the site had tongs and a spatula. The instructions are clear, but if you use Apple Maps to find it go further down the road than it says. Very buggy when you get there so pack your bug spray.

Lovely lake front setting with incredible sunsets. Enjoyed it thoroughly. We used the SUPs and Kayaks to paddle past the Lilly pads and swim in the clear middle of the lake. Highly recommend.

Claudine is a very warm and helpful host. White bond is clean and great for swimming. We caught 4 fishs with lure. I hope we could stay more days there. The cabin is small but has everything you need.

2 nights at Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

We took our oldest daughter to the island this week and she said it was the most amazing experience ever. We were able to kayak together, (thanks to Mary for loaning us as many as we needed), do some fishing, bring our dog, make some delicious food over the fire, and have some time away from electronics. We are coming back soon and we can't wait!

2 nights at Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

We stayed two nights at the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin and honestly, it was pure magic. The entire property has a whimsical, almost enchanted feeling — like something out of a fairytale. We took a stunning hike right off the back trail and found ourselves immersed in the peace and beauty of the forest. The cabin itself was beautifully designed and had everything we needed, but the real star was the infrared sauna — roomy, relaxing, and absolutely delightful after a long walk in the woods. We felt restored in every way. Mary was incredibly kind and accommodating, offering clear guidance and a genuinely welcoming spirit throughout our stay. This place felt like a secret sanctuary. Highly recommended for anyone in need of stillness, nature, and a little magic.

We cannot allow any wood for camp fires to be brought in form the outside for environmental reasons. It can be pre-purchased for $12 per bundle on this site, or $10.00 cash here at farm. Farm Fresh eggs daily when available for $5.00 per 1/2 dozen. There are blankets and pillows are provided, and linens for cabin or trailer sites. Garbage removal is available as well $5 per bag provided.

EXCEPT FOR THE RECENTLY ADDED TULLY 'THOREAU' ISLAND. Salamander Hollow is a private, evolving honeybee and human being sanctuary on 17 acres of land abutting Massachusetts State Forest. We currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags. 'Forest Bathing' for miles! If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors. Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom. A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. There is a grill, wood fired pizza oven, two fire pits and a hygienic Incinolet electric toilet on the property for night convenience, with small camp sinks for washing & teeth brushing. Take a short hike off the property to organic Chase Hill Farm for milk, eggs, seasonal veggies, grass fed meat and other goodies. Say hello to their cows, chickens, pigs, goats, pups and kids. Nestled across the road from Salamander Hollow is Timber Haven Farm, where you can schedule your pickup of bacon and eggs, while loading up on delicious Owl Energy Bars for your adventurous excursions. For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed. Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Classical CDs to listen to. Lots of eclectic books to peruse.Walkie talkies, a set of 4, are available upon request. Chess & poker sets, too. Electric 2-burner stovetop and griddle upon request. A small family farm that has been in Dennis's family since 1914. The old county road once existed in front of our house. Where horses and wagons would stop to off load part of their load to continue up the hill. They would return to pick up the rest and continue on. Since inheriting the farm, we have moved towards sustainable farming. We follow grass fed measures while raising our sheep the poultry free ranges to control the flea and tick population on the farm. Our vegetables are grown organically. We harvest only what is needed to heat our home from the forest leaving under growth alone. Last fall almost a hundred acres, of our farm, went into land conservation protecting it from urban sprawl.

Pachaug State Forest, Ell Pond Preserve, and the Westerly, RI beaches are all within a 20 minute drive from us. Our land is secluded and rural, offering a respite from the hubbub of city life. We have a spring-fed pond on-site and the majority of our land is heavily forested. With very low light pollution, the night sky on our farm is breathtaking. *PLEASE NOTE: We do not normally meet guests upon arrival, but if you’d like us to, please let us know and we will do our best to make ourselves available. If you live in eastern Connecticut like many residents of the state do, and you’re looking for a place to reconnect with nature but don’t want to travel far, allow us to introduce you to Begelow Hollow State Park and neighboring Nipmuch State Forest. With 9,000 acres of wooded hills and an 18-acre pond, the whole population of Hartford could get lost here.

If getting lost is indeed what you’d like to do, you can do so by land or water. Getting lost by canoe on the pond is highly recommended, although getting lost in the forest is equally pleasurable. However, we should clarify that we are referring to “getting lost” metaphorically. It is not actually a good idea to physically lose your sense of direction here. If you do get lost, for real, trace your steps, blow a whistle, something!
