Everything Horses Ltd

4 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Henley Brook, WA
5 beautiful acres in the Swan Valley with horses, we run a horse rehoming charity from here where all proceeds from hipcamp go to support our facility. Along with plenty of horses, you'll also see kangaroos at certain times and our pet sheep Jamima who thinks she's a horse! A superb property with a winter creek and an open paddock where the horses live. It's very peaceful. There are only two camping sites available on this wonderful property at any time so privacy is assured. There is also a dam on the property so please mind any children with absent swimming abilities. Campfires are allowed during the season, and there is a toilet and shower available in the shed 100 meters from the camping area. Smaller groups booking the campsites will have full access to the toilet and shower. Please note, however, we offer a group camping option for larger groups but those booking this option must be fully self-contained as our facilities are not enough to support a large group. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy here, we kindly ask that you take all rubbish with you when you leave. We also ask that you please do not feed the horses. The property is well located to access many great wineries and cafes in the famous Swan Valley area, some within walking distance. Security here is taken care of by Mr security guard "aka" Smoky our pet dog. He's very safe and timid. If you get a pat from this boy I know you're good, so beware! We are dog friendly here, so you're welcome to bring mans best friend and we also have a secure yard to house any pets if you need a break, so long as they don't hassle the horses. We may also be able to accommodate your horse - please discuss this with us prior to booking. We look forward to welcoming you to Everything Horses ltd where you can enjoy one of the last pockets of peace left in the Swan Valley area. We are everythinghorsesltd on Facebook with current uploads to see more of the property and animals here. There is a red cone at the driveway to pull in to where you will be greeted, please leave any gates as you find them. We wish you happy travels campers

If you accept that you are staying on a working hobby farm / equine property and that I have no control over nature - then welcome, there is much beauty here for those who have the eyes to see - and as a base to explore the Perth area, we have a pretty convenient spot :)

100-Acre Woods

18 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Mandurah, WA
We are a hobby farm set on 100-acres on the North Dandalup scarp, with a few sheep. You will find kangaroos, echidnas, sometimes emus visiting our property. You can enjoy the great views into the horizon towards the Indian Ocean amidst the tall jarrah and gum trees. Campsites are set in the woodlands, some with views. It’s perfect for people seeking 'quiet' time away, but still near to amenities in the towns around here. You can take walks to experience forest therapy, have a campfire or canoe in the dams during wintertime. There is no power, water or toilet facilities so campers must be completely self-contained. You are expected to clear up and take all rubbish with you. Leave no trace. The terrain is rather hilly, hence a few sites are accessible only by 4WD (Sembawang and Changi). There are some sites that are still accessible with regular cars (Opera 1, 2 or 3; Tampines, Bedok). RVs and small caravans are welcomed. All vehicles have to stay on the paths, and not to make any tracks. During the summer fire season, fires are strictly prohibited! The fire ban commenced on 1 Oct 2023 (Shire of Murray). Dogs welcome (on leash).

Jacaranda Hill Farm

16 sites · RVs, Tents108 acres · WA
We are closed from 1 Dec through to 31 March due to High Fire Risk. Our 43-hectare property is on the edge of the Darling Scarp behind the historical Fairbridge Village. Only 1 hour south of Perth, so it is close enough for a quick weekend getaway but far enough to enjoy the silence of the bush. There are elevated campsites with views west towards Mandurah and the Peel Estuary, northwest views toward Perth City, and three dams on the property. Guests must be fully self-contained, as no toilets or showers are available. Just amazing views :) Some locations are suitable for tents only, and some for caravans only. 4WD/AWDs are recommended as most sites are not easily accessible with a 2WD vehicle, especially during winter. Dog friendly. Campfires are permitted in designated areas with the host's approval (depending on fire restrictions). We are closed over the summer period due to increased fire risk.

Camping near Perth guide

Overview

Hemmed in by sandy beaches, riverside parks, and wineries, Perth comes with options. Whether using the state capital as a base for wine tasting or bushwalking, hopping over to the neighboring port of Fremantle, or passing through as part of your Western Australia road trip, Perth is on everyone’s itinerary. And campers can have the best of both worlds—dive into the food and culture, then slip away to a secluded bush campsite for a campfire BBQ and a view over the valleys. The added bonus? Year-round sunshine makes camping possible in all seasons.

Swan Valley

The banks of the Swan River curl northeast of Perth into the Swan Valley, where they bloom into leafy hillsides and vines. Less than an hour from Perth CBD, it’s the weekend getaway of choice for city-dwellers, where you can go wine tasting, cruise along the river, or get out for cycling, freshwater fishing, and canoeing. With camping sites and caravan parks throughout the valley, you can also pitch your tent or park your campervan or camper trailer in the vineyards.

Perth Hills and Serpentine

East of Perth, the hills around Mundaring, Kalamunda, and Armadale are prime for campers and bushwalkers. Just an hour south of the city, Wungong Regional Park and Serpentine National Park are great for waterfall swims and hiking through rocky gorges. Choose a waterside camping area with access to natural swimming pools, camp out on a llama farm, or escape from it all at a remote woodland tent site.

Yanchep and the North

State Route 60 runs north to Yanchep National Park, where kookaburras, koalas, and kangaroos hide among bushland trails and wetlands. Further north, follow the classic Western Australian road trip route, stopping at the Lancelin sand dunes and then trekking through the desert of Nambung National Park to see The Pinnacles. Nearby, Jurien Bay has beachfront camping spots, where you can cool off swimming or snorkeling in the Indian Ocean.

When to go

Summer is peak season in Perth, but campers should be prepared for scorching temperatures and the need to book camping grounds well in advance. Road tripping is most magical in spring (September through November), when wildflowers bloom along the coast, and both spring and autumn (March through May) offer ideal weather for camping, as well as the chance for whale watching. Winter temperatures are mild but rainy, so wet weather camping gear is essential.

Know before you go

  • Having your own transport is a big plus around Perth, especially if you plan to get out to the vineyards or national parks.
  • Fire bans are common in Western Australia during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations before lighting your campfire.
  • A National Parks pass is required to visit, hike, or camp within Western Australia’s national parks.
