Heritage listed homestead featuring children’s art and literature. Currently featuring a beautiful exhibition by award winning Australian authors/illustrators Mark Wilson, Leigh Hobbs, Ann James & Gabrielle Wang. Nestled in the Macedon ranges in the tiny hamlet of Riddell’s Creek, Dromkeen is 30 minutes drive from Melbourne Airport. This stately National Trust home has beautiful gardens with a range of Australian native and European plants, a gazebo and two resident alpacas. We have space in the large carpark for vans, motorhomes, or alternatively the horse paddock for tents and campers. Ample toilets available. Dogs permitted by advance request. Guests are welcome to visit the Tea Room, open 10am – 5pm Wednesday through Sunday. Our daily menu contains a selection of delicious cakes, devonshire tea, toasted sandwiches, specialty pies and weekly specials and of course, tea and coffee. Breakfast is served all day. Browse in the galleries or wander around the beautiful gardens which have trees more than 100 years old, some listed on the National Trust register. Meet our 2 Dromkeen alpacas Hannah and Lilly. ***Please note, we are a rubbish free campsite, so campers are asked to take their rubbish with them. Dromkeen has very clean toilets, but a reminder there are NO showers. Also all sites are unpowered, but upon request prior to arrival a powered spot may be available at an extra $10 a day. Please ring to verify this. During summer months because of fire restrictions we also remind campers there should be NO outside campfires. ****Also please note, each van or tent is considered a separate booking site and each site is considered a space for 2 adults and up to 4 children. Where there are 2 couples, they are required to make 2 separate bookings.

We had such a lovely time at Dromkeen, Riddells Creek. It is such a beautiful place with spectacular views and a hint of sun at sunrise on our last morning. Of course we couldn't leave without another helping of Bernadette's scones and coffee before leaving. The building is so steeped in history and also has regular displays in the art gallery which are a must see. We will be back. Maybe when it is a little warmer.

We had a fantastic weekend camping at Dromkeen and appreciated Bernadette’s warm hospitality. While there were other campers at the campsite, everyone had their own space and was friendly and respectful. We particularly liked the campers toilet block which was well maintained and clean. They also run a cafe at the gallery, have their scones - you won’t regret it 😋

I absolutely loved this place 💛 10/10! The grounds are spacious, with plenty of space and beautiful views. As a female solo camper, I felt very safe staying here overnight, which was really important to me. My dog had the best time too, enjoying several long walks around the campsite and even meeting some animals along the way. The facilities were excellent, the toilets were spotless, and both the cafe and the garden area behind it were beautifully decorated and so welcoming. Bernadette was a wonderful host, warm and genuinely welcoming, and the other cafe staff were just as lovely. I had two meals during my stay, and both were absolutely delicious. I’d highly recommend this place and would happily stay again!

Beautiful property with incredible views. The camping sites are spaced apart so there is plenty of room for each camper, and the bathroom facilities are super clean. A lovely experience, highly recommened!

Bernadette is a very welcoming host and provided lots of information about the history of the house and the children’s events she has/is organising. We were able to park anywhere on her property and were also given the opportunity to link up to power for $10 a day. The toilets were always very clean and hot water is always available. The property is only 5 minutes from Riddells Creak train station where you can catch a train into Melbourne.

i chose the most horrendous weather to camp in. but staff made sure to tuck me into a spot that was sheltered from the worst of it. i was snug as a bug in my little tent 😌

We love our camping time here. Lovely owner and staffs. My kids love the animals and chickens, also the books room and kitchen toys to entertain them. The owner let us choose the spot which was close to the toilet and quite large, so we can have private for our own. Definitely we will come back and recommend this place to my friends.

We loved camping here with the wonderful views. It was close to all the things in the Macedon Ranges. They have a fantastic art gallery and also a cafe at Dromkeen, so this was a treat after a hike or bike ride. Dromkeen itself is a piece of history from times gone by. Bernadette was such a lovely lady with remarkable wisdom. A bonus was the toilet block with HOT water!! A great find not far from Melbourne.

Amazing place to stay - Bernadette and Tony are the perfect hosts. Make sure to view the art gallery and have a Devonshire tea at the tea house. Amenities always spotless - nice private areas in the garden to camp/park. Nice to wake up to a rooster.

Loved it. Bernadette makes sure everyone stays to perimeter so we all see that awesome view. Didn’t go into house. But the coffee tea cakes soup etc looks great. Plus a sitting room in an over 100 year old homestead, artwork and kids area with books etc. clean toilets. 30 min walk to Riddell and short drive to Sunbury.

I had a great weekend camping here, even with the weather swinging from very hot to quite cold. It’s a fantastic location with beautiful views overlooking Mt Sugarloaf and Gisborne. Bernadette was a wonderful host and made everyone feel welcome. The facilities were clean and well maintained. There were several families and groups staying over the weekend, but it never felt cramped — sites were well spaced and everyone had their own space. The art gallery and café were open, which was a real bonus. It was great to escape the 40-degree heat for a while and enjoy a quality coffee and a delicious vanilla slice.

Bernadette was warm, welcoming, and so easy to communicate with both before and during our visit. The food from the tea room was absolutely delicious and beautifully served.
