Colorful sunsets, impressive sandstone canyons, and the La Sal Mountain range dotting the horizon is what you’ll be ogling from your tent at the Sand Flats Recreation Area Campground. Surrounded by a landscape as beautiful as the photos and with access to enough activities like 4x4 off-roading, hiking, and biking to keep you busy, you’ll probably end up extending your stay here for an extra day or two.

This campground had some very cool spots along huge boulders, which we climbed to see the sunset and sunrise! The bathrooms were very clean and each spot was equipped with a fire pit. Definitely would have stayed more than one night if we had the time.

This campground is in the town of Moab itself which is very central to the national parks, state parks and blm land in the area. After talking to the Moab information office I was told that this campground often doesn't fill up as fast as others on holiday weekends because most people want to camp closer to the parks.

A four wheel drive vehicle would be helpful. Plan to hike! There are some beautiful sights!

Beautiful views! Arches National Park is not far away. It makes for a scenic drive through Moab and across the countryside. hiking activitycanyon
