Stephen’s place is very nicely tucked away, so although there is a town nearby, you feel you are well isolated. The camp spot itself is very spacious and has everything one needs. It is about 35 minutes from Moab and 45 minutes from Arches National Park. Stephen is an absolutely wonderful host, and we really enjoyed meeting him. We strongly recommend this site.

My friend and I stayed 5 nights at La Sal South-40. It was our alternative to Dead Horse State Park when we couldn't get in. We were so happy we couldn't get a spot there because we would have missed this gem. It is so quiet and peaceful. Nothing but birdsong, sage and blue sky. Steve is an excellent host. We had everything we needed. We will definitely stay at La Sal South-40 if we are in the area again. Thanks Steve!

Great spot for tent camping! The views were amazing and the provided amenities like the shared bathroom were in fantastic shape. Perfect place to stop on my road trip. Would definitely stay again.

Our camp site (#3) was clean and spacious. The WiFi was a plus. The outhouse was the cleanest and fanciest I’ve seen so far. I would definitely camp again on this property.

The views from Stephen's land were beautiful! I also appreciated the extras like drinking water, picnic table, and tarp to block out the afternoon sun. The place was easy to find, close enough to Moab (about 30 minutes) but away from its hustle and bustle. It was perfect for exploring Arches, both entries of Canyonlands, the La Sal Mountains and abundance of other parks in the area. The site and toilet were both clean and well maintained. Stephen was a very attentive and communicative host. Would definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

These sites were so neat and nice :) we appreciated Stephen's last minute availability booking us for the night and assistance with amenities! It's peaceful out in La Sal and certainly worth the drive if you're trying to see Canyonlands/Arches or doing something fun in Moab.

We really enjoyed our 1-week stay! The spot is located about 25 miles out of Moab and is very peaceful and quiet. The solitude and serenity were delightful! We were located about halfway between the Needles section of Canyonlands, where we wanted to hike, and the Island in the Sky section, where we biked. Stephen is incredibly helpful and friendly and always responded in a very short time when we had questions. The hip camp is spotlessly clean and even has great WiFi, which is rare in such spots. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it highly to others. We stayed in a 45-foot 5th wheel, and the site was large enough to accommodate our rig, the truck that pulls it, as well as my Jeep Grand Cherokee! One of the most comfortable and spacious Hip Camps we have stayed in.

Stephen’s land was the perfect place to stay! It was far enough away to feel private and peaceful, while also being close enough to easily get to Moab or either national parks. The view of the mountains surrounding the area was also a major plus! Will definitely be staying here again!

Step when and his wife were so friendly! They met me at the campsite and allowed me to choose another site I liked better. All sites were well-maintained, level, and I believe all had electric and water. It was such a peaceful location. Highly recommend!

Great setup for our van on a cold night when we needed power for some extra heat. Quiet, tucked away spot. Instructions from host got us right to the location. And, dare I say, the cutest pit toilet I have ever used.

What a great spot for some solitude around Moab! We arrived and found our spot pretty easily. We were the only guests for the 2 nights we stayed. Power worked great and the water was delicious! We spotted some deer very close around dusk and heard coyotes at night.

Stephen’s HipCamp property was one of the best I have ever experienced. It is situated in an amazing setting below the La Sal mountains surrounded by high-desert sage brush and open country with amazing views and amenities. Sunsets and night sky viewing are incredible. It is located 30-45 minutes from Moab, Arches, Canyonlands, and the La Sal mountains loop road. Sites are large and quiet except for the coyotes who yelp and howell as the sun sets. A wonderful place!

Quiet and Peaceful HipCamp Site

Our stay at HipCamp Site 4 was great--it had a fire pit, picnic table with a shade over it which was very helpful in the hot sun. Steve & Naomi obviously take very good care of the property -- the outhouse is very clean and has solar fan and lights. Had wonderful sunsets every night and we loved that it was considerably cooler than the Moab area, it was worth a bit of extra driving just for that. Highly recommend making this place a stop on your southern Utah trip!

Easily one of our favorite spots on our entire road trip from Austin to Seattle. Beautiful, quiet, private, with stunning views all around. Sunsets and sunrises are stunning! Stephen is really kind and responsive. We’d happily come back here again!

This is a great quiet spot away from Moab with great views of the beautiful La Sal mountains and the surrounding countryside. You can hear coyotes at night and the air is crisp and clear. We climbed Mt Peale and the aspens were beautiful up at La Sal pass in late September.

My family of 6 plus a couple significant others stayed here for a few nights to explore Moab. We rented an RV trailer through Outdoorsy, and Stephen’s campsite provided a perfect option to provide easy directions for the RV owners to drop off to, without resorting to a crowded RV park. Clean campsite, exactly as shown, with plenty of room for our vehicles. Stephen was very easy to communicate with ahead of time and provided helpful directions ahead of our arrival. Thank you so much, would absolutely recommend and stay again!

Very peaceful, away from the crazy of Moab (but a short drive) and gorgeous views. Nice flat spots with shade, tables, fire pits and wi-fi. Well cared for land. Would definitely stay here again!

Stephen’s back 40 camp was excellent. It had everything promised. The water spigot was on site with some of the best fresh well water I have ever had. Electric outlet on site too. There was a dump toilet that I used during the day but a bit too far to walk in the dark. Loved the picnic table and the sun shade ! That was unexpected. The fire wood we preordered was clean and fast burning. He even supplied a trash can. The only downside was the barking dogs in the area but Stephen had no control over that.

This desert site was an amazing experience. Though only outside LaSal, the camp's placement provided a true desert experience, from wide open expanses , to glorious desert sunsets and rises, to incredible night sky Milky Way views. On my stay, we were even treated to a rainbow following a brief shower. Stephen is a very accommodating host who maintains a well tended site. On this trip, it was just me and my dog in a camper--we felt safe and overjoyed to be in such a setting.

Beautiful site with sweeping vistas

Steve was a terrific host giving us lots of tips for nearby activities, hiking, etc. His land is gorgeous with sweeping vistas. He has thought of everything! We were pulling a small, 15-foot trailer and he had 30-amp power, water from a 300-foot well and an adapter to have gray tank emptying as well. The site also had a shaded picnic table, fire pit and a clean composting toilet set up.

To start he was very easy to contact, all the information he provided was super clear and easy to follow.
The place itself is a beautiful, quiet and secure area that you can rest and enjoy a nice campfire. The campsite is beautiful taken care.

We had a great time during these 11 days. The campsite was perfect for us, and we even extended our stay. We explored the beautiful surroundings and enjoyed the tranquility of the campsite.
