Past trip
in Oak Hollow Farm and Sanctuary, CaliforniaFriendly host & sweet animals
We have had a couple wonderful visits to Oak Hollow Farm. Brenda is a sweet attentive host. The land is beautiful & has lots of animals that are sweet and friendly. They also have a little tree house and play area our kids loved. The wagon was really cute & cozy. Only advice is bring your bug spray if you're going in the warm months.
Past trip
in The Owl Pine Cabin & Camp, CaliforniaLoved it. will probably be back!
Michael & his family were very gracious hosts. We really loved our stay here! Camp Owl Pine gives you all the things you need for a leisurely camp in the cool little town of Idyllwild. The spot is more secluded than you'd expect when you first arrive. No cell signal in the camp but 10 steps away, no problem lol. Everything was super clean & well taken care of. Shower, toilet kitchen was awesome. Kids had fun running around the forest & the stream steps away was picturesque. Only negative was since you're close to the water there are some bugs/mosquitoes so dress accordingly.
Past trip
in The Castle House: Estate, CaliforniaNice stay in the high desert
We really appreciated our stay here. The area was very nice. There were a few other campers in the area so if you want seclusion this is not really the venue--but you do have plenty of space between sites. The pool access was perfect for the midday sun & it was great to have the shower there. The only thing we could really critique was that the trash from the previous campers filled most of the bins when we for there & was not taken out out entire stay & the outhouse by us was not nearly as clean/upkept as the ones toward the front of the property.

Fort Cross Camping w Activities!
in Fort Cross Adventures, CaliforniaMy kids didn't want to leave

Came here for the last weekend before summer ended for my kids (5 years old). They loved it. The site included an outdoor kitchen & covered (it was a HOT weekend) picnic table. There 2 rope swings just beyond our camp area, showers (with hot water), & a large area to wander. Met some friendly animals both on the tour & just walking around. My wife & I enjoyed the activities as much as the kids did. Close by is a nice sunset hike, berry picking, mineral panning & Julian's best pies. Busy weekend & met lots of friendly locals. Doreen & Jesse were great hosts; very accommodating & friendly. Looking forward to returning with a larger group!

Past trip
in Get Lost Inn - Cabin Rentals, CaliforniaThis place is a sweet little, cozy cabin right next to the Green Valley Lake. Everything in the tiny town is basically walking distance. My family & I went up here for some snow-play & had a blast. The place is equipped with all the makings for a great weekend getaway if you're aiming to get out of town for a bit. The kids spent the weekend either in the snow or playing on the Foosball table. The space is small but very open so it was perfect for a handful of us to just chill and enjoy some board games & relax. We loved it. We will be back.

Our family and friends had a great time during our weekend on Illana's Animal Rescue. I have 2 little boys that just adored the place. They got to help feed the animals, let them in and out of their pens, and much more. They even got to ride a horse around! We got fresh eggs from the farm for breakfast & our hosts couldn't have been more friendly. They even had little activities like rock painting to keep the kids (and adults, honestly) entertained. Can't wait to go back!

Past trip
The Treehouse @ Oak Hollow Farm
in Oak Hollow Farm and Sanctuary, CaliforniaMy family stayed at the Treehouse & pitched a tent under the trees. Oak Hollow Farm is a gem! Brenda is an AMAZING host. My boys loved everything about the weekend. The Treehouse was great fun for them. They enjoyed interacting with the surprising amount of different animals they have on the property. It was really special. My wife has already been looking for dates to go back!
Past trip
Get Lost Inn 1 - Arrowbear Lake
in Get Lost Inn - Cabin Rentals, CaliforniaSpent the weekend here with a couple friends & my family. We had a very good time here. The space was perfect for 4 adults & 2 kids. Any more than that might have ended up being a little "cozy." Everything about the cabin's description was pretty much as expected. It was all neat & clean. The location is great for many activities in the area, however, the little lake was still dry when we went in December due to lack of rain. Overall for the price, it was a very good place to stay. The beds were fine, there were a lot of toys for the kids, board games for us to play, and even snowplay equipment. The pool table wasn't really in working order--the balls all roll at a slant, haha. And the treehouse in the back is kind of cramped, even for my 4-year-olds. Other than that, we really didn't have any problems. The cold nights didn't bother us in the warm home, and we had lots of fun spending a little time up in the mountains sledding & visiting Skyforest Park.

Songdog Glampout
in Cuyama Badlands, CaliforniaStayed in the Songdog Glampout with some friends for a 3 day/2 night trip. This site is awesome. Jim is a very great host. You get firewood, an awesome tipi, a picnic table with some coverage and a ton of your own personal space. From the campsite, you can enter a BLM area and hike up some mountain ridges and get some amazing views. The sunsets here were spectacular and the stars at night are amazing. The ranch dogs Jill & Gypsy were pretty awesome to hang out with as well. Next to us there was a tank with lots of running water and potable water provided as well. We all slept really well on the mats and pillows provided. Outhouse was a short stroll down the hill from the site.
The only negative about our experience was there were a lot of bugs around the site. Not a big deal to us, but it is worth noting for people who may visit.
Overall, 100% would recommend staying here if you want to get away & desire a nice secluded spot to camp that is somehow also extremely convenient, with beautiful landscapes and amazing night views.

Michael hasn't gone on any trips yet.

Tiny House Cabin in San Gabriels
in Angeles Crest Creamery, CaliforniaThe Lake Cabin was great. A cute little spot for us to chill in the summer. The lake was mostly dry, but you get a great mountainside view and respite from the heat under the trees. Plus the rainstorms came through in while most of SoCal was 110° or more. So nice! My kids loved seeing the animals. Gloria was a very nice, responsive host. Would definitely go back. Only negative were lots of bugs, but you're outdoors. That's a given.
