We had an amazing stay with Monika and all her precious animals. Monika was so so helpful in general, and really lovely to chat with. The location is perfect as well because itâs located close to Salida and Buena Vista which makes it easy to find something beautiful and fun to do as well. We honestly could have stay there all day though as well. Monikas property is located in the PERFECT stargazing location and thatâs pretty much what we did the entire time we camped at night. You can see the Milky Way, if that interests you!
We definitely would recommend to check out Monikaâs, and when you do be sure to support the sanctuary by getting some fresh chicken and duck eggs!

Jessica E.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
This campsite was good for our one night stay. You wonât have cell service which amazing OTHER than the fact that the site is definitely on the primitive side in terms of finding it. We were on the creekside site and there was no creek at the time which the site host of course canât control, but it made finding the campsite more difficult for sure. I wouldnât rely on your phones gps to find this site, we ended up saying screw it and hoped we were at the correct place and ended up getting lucky. The actual property was pretty dirty in the sense that it seems like previous campers may just kinda leave their things there (ie. Engine oil bottles, boxes of misc rusty tools, what looked like an old part of an exhaust from a car perhaps, general garbage). Itâs a bummer, because I have a feeling the garbage on the property it probably left by random people and not the owner, so itâs a shame because it has potential to be a great spot. All in all, nothing to write home about by any means, but we had a place to sleep at least!
Jessica hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.

This place was INCREDIBLE. By far the best hip camp site Iâve been to. The campsites felt natural and earthy without feeling grungy. The scenery is so ridiculous itâs not even funny. Being from Denver, Iâve traveled around Colorado and camped a lot and this campsite is my favorite by a long shot. Cute little beaver dam in the lake, everyone is respectful of each other, the other campsites were far enough away that we felt we had total privacy. The creek is accessible from the property as well so if youâre into fishing or dipping your toes in its ideal. Beautiful trees surrounding you, peaceful noise from the creek and nearby waterfall (a short hike with a HUGE reward). I would highly highly highly recommend!
Personal tip: bring at least 1 extra blanket! We have two sleeping bags and a blanket and weâre still chilly so better to be extra prepared :)
