Monika was very welcoming and shared a ton of information about the area, including hiking trails and other places of interest for us newbies to this part of Colorado. We enjoyed the solice of the field, feeding carrots to the horses, and walking through the farmyard to visit the (cleanest ever) porta potty) and buy our morning chicken and duck eggs. Since it is an open field, be sure to plan for some wind and chilly nights. Warm sleeping bags highly recommended. Buena Vista is a short drive away, so we it was easy to go in for a little shopping or a meal. Great experience overall!

We had a great time on Monkia's property. She was very welcoming and made the check-in process a breeze. In general, our stay at her ranch was great. Despite a strong breeze and not much tree cover, there was lots of level ground to set-up a tent and it was very quiet at night with a great view of the stars.

We had the most amazing time!!! Monika is a most gracious host. This is a perfect spot for families and we had so much fun meeting the animals and learning about the farm. We got eggs and honey and made family memories to last a lifetime! We are so grateful and recommend camping here to any families considering so. Thank you so much again Monika!!!!

Historic Ranch at Mt. Princeton
Host was really helpful and interesting, explaining how/where she rescued her animals from. You are camping in a large field which can get windy, so bring a shade and mat/picnic blanket. Quick drive to town, but not a nice bike ride. The farm animals weren't wandering through the camping field, like I originally pictured. However, the host brought my family around on a tour to meet her rescue ducks, horses, bunny, llama, and chickens. My kids were able to hold a chicken. We also bought fresh eggs to cook up for breakfast.
The nightly cost was more than I would usually feel comfortable for considering there is no water or electric hook ups, but the fees help support her rescue animal work, so it felt worth it.

Monika was awesome. Very kind and her animal mission is very impressive! The camping setup is perfect. Just the basics in a private setting. Great communication throughout. Highly recommend staying here!

Awesome Hipcamp, Beautiful Views, Clean Campsites, Delightful hosts, Eggs from hosts chickens! WOW is the the word we used when we pulled into this place outside of Buena Vista. We had several nights of rain but always woke up to clear skies and beautiful rescued horses with the mountains for a perfect background!! Monika & Tim were so helpful and accommodating. We even watched fireworks with them in their front yard!!! Best Hipcamp by far!!!!

AMAZING. Over the course of a 3 week western RV trip, this was a memorable highlight. Where to begin. Yes, the views are 360-degrees of stunning amazement. But more than that the host, Monika, is a special human being. She was kind enough to take the time to not only show us around, but to tell us about the incredible work she is doing with so many animals - animals that are fortunate to have ended up with this special person. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful stay, this is the place. If you want to see some of the best of humanity, this is also your place. We loved it.

The ranch is beautiful and Monika is a great host. She and her husband Tim helped us set up the trailer since it was our first time RV camping. We're so happy we chose to stay here instead of an RV camp. We especially enjoyed seeing the beautiful horses right from our trailer's window.

We loved our stay at Monika's ranch! Waking up with the sunlight hitting Mt. Princeton was absolutely stunning! So much room to camp without having to share a crowded campground. Close to Cottonwood and Mt. Princeton hot springs and downtown Buena Vista.
Monika was a great host! Very understanding and flexible.

We had an amazing stay with Monika and all her precious animals. Monika was so so helpful in general, and really lovely to chat with. The location is perfect as well because it’s located close to Salida and Buena Vista which makes it easy to find something beautiful and fun to do as well. We honestly could have stay there all day though as well. Monikas property is located in the PERFECT stargazing location and that’s pretty much what we did the entire time we camped at night. You can see the Milky Way, if that interests you!
We definitely would recommend to check out Monika’s, and when you do be sure to support the sanctuary by getting some fresh chicken and duck eggs!

Large, open field where various campers were set up. Amazing views. Didn't feel very private given the large open setting, but we had a good stay. Monika was very kind.

What a fun little trip! Monika was so welcoming and shared her farm with our little family- my 8 year old and my 3 year old twins loved the adventure. We had a great time visiting the ghost town St. Elmo and feeding the chipmunks and loved our experience at the Mt. Princeton Hot-springs (very family friendly)- Monika was helpful all along the way! We loved it. The setting is beautiful in all directions! Easy to get to, just minutes from Buena Vista. The airport is nearby by I only heard one airplane the entire time which is unheard of for me.
This is a working ranch, but Monika made time to talk with us about life on the ranch. My daughter loved feeding the chickens and even got to hold one. She definitely wants to go back (and we will).
The location is mostly dispersed camping, with plenty of space so you aren't right up on someone. There's fresh well water that tastes quite good if you need water. And there's a clean port-o-potty.
Just an FYI (and this isn't a complaint because this isn't a commercial campground). There's only one electric hookup on the historic barn. If you need electricity it's worth checking with Monika.
Be sure to buy some fresh eggs and honey while there. You'll help support the animals that are all rescues.

It was a great, relaxing stay for me. Just what the doctor ordered. "Regular" campgrounds have you packed in like sardines, here there is plenty of elbow room. In addition, fresh eggs and real honey. Will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful location with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. Plenty of space to have your own private area. Loved being surrounded by horses (and mountains). Monika was a wonderful and helpful host. 100% recommend!

We really loved our stay at Monika’s ranch. We had an unobstructed 360 degree view of all the mountain ranges surrounding the valley, with the Collegiate peaks front and center. We even saw metros above Mt. Princeton on our last night. After an initial snafu with the booking options (be sure to note how many cars you’re bringing!) we found the ranch to be exactly what we needed for rooftop tent camping. The camping area is a large pasture that is very level with soft dirt. There were no trees and it could get a bit windy around sunset, but that was perfect for us since we packed up for explore and hike each day and returned at night to cook and sleep. overall it was quiet and beautiful. A full view of stars with little light pollution, and very minimal traffic noise. Other campers were spaced out and respectful. The porta potty was cleaned the Friday we arrived (looks like it was cleaned weekly in prep for weekend visitors!) and was in great shape, no further away from the camp spot than a usual campground. Potable water was available and tasted fresh and was cool. Lots of ducks, chickens, and horses in the vicinity to observe, you can tell the animals are well cared for!

Convenient spot for enjoying attractions around Buena Vista and town itself. During my two day stay ,stocked up on groceries, hiked Brown Canyon, soaked at Local Hot Spring and dined at Buena restaurants. Will stay again this year or next for rafting.
