This was my second day. Last year when I stayed, it was almost 100° and very hot! Since then the yurt has been relocated to a shady spot. And Gina also devised a low tech air-conditioning system where a cordless fan could blow cool air from ice. But it cooled off enough at night that I didnāt need to use it.
It was a short walk to the nearby bait shop to chat with the proprietors and have an ice cold soda. They also have snacks and there is an adjacent liquor store for those so inclined. I also had some fresh mulberries that were ripe immediately adjacent to the tent.

I stayed twice last year and it was just as nice this year. I sat on the porch where there was a nice breeze, strumming my guitar and watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. In the evening there was a brief coyote serenade. If they howled again later, I didnāt hear it as I was sound asleep.

I stayed at this off grid cabin as a stop over on a long trip to visit family. It had everything that I needed, and also lots of things that a couple and/or people staying longer would want - games, insect repellent (I always keep a bottle in my car, so I didnāt need to use the supplied insect repellent)and a generator (which I didnāt need for my short stay) that could power lights, fan, etc. The location was quiet. And itās set back from the road, ensuring privacy. I got on the road early, before dawn, and within a mile of the cabin I saw wildlife: a deer, an opossum, and a skunk. The host responded promptly to questions.

My goal was to have a relaxing long weekend getaway. And this spot was perfect. I took lots of long walks on the trails through the property. I had the trails to myself. I enjoyed sitting by the pond and my dogs went for a swim. I did lots of reading The hammock was perfect for that. I also sat outside and practiced my guitar. The site had everything I needed. Of course I was lucky and had absolutely perfect weather for the 4 days/3 nights. I was there. Margarete and Sven were perfect hosts. The creek in front of the tent was a haven for small frogs. I also saw many toads, as well as an assortment of interesting plants, fungi, and insects. I heard coyotes howling in the distance one morning. I spied a young hawk on n the ground eating something during one of my walks. It was an extremely quiet and peaceful stay and I highly recommend hemlock camp.

My second stay was just as amazing and enjoyable as the first stay. It was a hot night, so I really appreciated the cordless fan supplied. I also enjoyed relaxing in the hammock before bedtime. There were lots of fireflies to watch. The first time I stayed I heard a great horned owl. This time I heard a barred owl, a screech owl, and coyotes. So lots of wonderful nighttime sounds. I also heard a bobolink when I first arrived in the afternoon. They donāt have bobolinks where I live so that was a treat.
If I ever make the long drive from my home in New York State to my daughter in Colorado again, I will be sure to stay here. Although itās early in the season, they were still many beautiful flowers to look at. And a patch of mint tucked against the wood was very fragrant.

This was a perfect spot to spend the night driving distance to visit family. Very private. Very well appointed with anything you need. It was next to a small pond perfect for watching the sunset. Although I thought it might be buggy, there werenāt very many bugs since there were so many swallows, swooping and catching insects. Fun to watch. I also heard a great horned owl during the night. My Merlin Bird app heard Eastern meadowlarks and dickcissels. The second bird is something I donāt think they have where Iām from, Iām not familiar withit
It turns out there is a new little store about 1/4 of a mile away called T&A bait and more. I walked over and met the very friendly and nice proprietor, Travis. I was able to get ice for my cooler, some cold drinks, a snack for me and for my dogs. And the next morning I was able to get yogurt and V-8 juice for a healthy breakfast.
Be aware that itās very sunny and can get hot in the afternoon. So if you have a camping chair with you, you can sit in the shade until the sun goes down. I can see how that might be a possibility on a hotter day. Also, you can hear some highway noise but after about 10 PM vehicles were few and far between so that wasnāt really a problem.
Overall, the site was clean, neat and welcoming. Iām planning to return on my drive back home.

I have stayed at several hip camps over the years, and this was by far my favorite. Of course, I lucked out on a day with glorious weather. But the cabin was perfect for my needs. Tucked in the shade on a beautiful flower farm. Iām not a bird watcher, but it would definitely be a bird watcher paradise as itās located on the edge of forest and field with a national wildlife refuge very close by. Lots of places to walk my dogs and even three geocaches within walking distance. The cabin was very well appointed. Even binoculars and a bird identification book as well as hummingbird feeder frequented by hummingbirds. I will definitely be staying again.

This little cabin was a perfect fit for my needs as a stopover as I was traveling from upstate New York to Colorado. itās tucked right next to a pretty ravine with not only hemlock trees, but also sassafras trees. Sassafras is not something very common where I live so that was a treat.
The host provided very clear directions and instructions. Everything was in perfect order. Actually one of the nicest outhouses I have ever encountered! At the end of the road thereās a park. I thought the park looked familiar. It turns out, I found a geocache there once when I pulled off the highway to walk my dogs back in October 2020!

I was looking for a place to stay while traveling from my home to my sonās home. This location was pretty close to halfway, and not far off the interstate. But far enough so that it was extremely quiet, no traffic noise at all. It is the perfect place for one or two people traveling with a dog. Thereās room for an agile small third person in the sleeping loft. Lots of farm animals to enjoy. The hosts were a very nice family with well behaved children. It was nice to see kids playing outdoors rather than sitting in front of a screen.
Eva hasn't gone on any trips yet.
