Past trips
Calamity Jane
in Coyote Mynt Ranch, Paso Robles, CaliforniaPrivate, clean and quiet location!
Had a great weekend getaway at Dana's ranch! The airstream trailer was perfect. It was clean and comfortable, the A/C was very helpful and all the necessary kitchen supplies were there. The stove inside worked perfect, and I even grilled outside, too (bring your camping gas canister). The private outdoor area suited me perfectly and it was so fun to meet the goats, donkeys and chickens with my daughter. They were all very nice! Dana came and checked in with me to make sure I was all set and was available if I needed anything. The sunset from the top of the ranch was beautiful and I enjoyed the fact that it was close to downtown Paso and also near some nice wineries. I would 100% stay here again! Thank you Dana for everything!
Five Hearts Homesteader Cabin
in Five Hearts Homesteader Cabin, CaliforniaIf youâre looking for a great place in the desert to soak in the vibes this is it! The property is beautiful and the cabin is a perfect mix of rustic yet with everything you need. Great location if youâre going to Joshua Tree or Palm Springs. Gail is a great host and took care to check in and make sure everything was ok. Thanks again for sharing you cabin Gail!
JOHNNYS CORNER
in Justin T.âs Land, CaliforniaA huge thanks to Justin for letting us stay at the last minute! We didnât meet him in person but he was very accommodating. As a musician, Iâm very curious as to the history of the music camp. The camp site is on his property but very private and away from the main house. Itâs situated in the pines, oaks, and madrones and there endless amounts of fire roads nearby to explore with some incredible views of the Sierraâs. At night there are million stars with zero light pollution, perfect for stargazing. The location is perfect for day trips up to the mountains where there are endless lakes, rivers, hiking, etc... Thanks again Justin hope to be back soon.
15 South Valley View
in C.J.'s Hideaway, CaliforniaBased on previous reviews was excited to camp here for a few days but after arriving we decided to leave and find another place. First off we live in a rural, fire prone area of California so fire safety is always on my mind. The directions to the camp were very clear so we found it easily but know it is very remote and if there was some kind of emergency it could be difficult getting back to the main highway. If I had known how far back in it is I probably would not have booked it. Also, we have an AWD but Iâm surprised no one has mentioned there are some spots on the gravel road I could easily see a passenger car not making it. Once we got to the site we were disappointed as there is a large building under construction at the parking area where the porta potty is. Lots of piles of lumber and equipment so not sure if there was going to be people working on it while we were camping? Also we have a toddler and it have been tough keeping her from all the construction materials. The site itself has views of the valley but to get to it you have to walk through A TON of cow patties. Again, we live in the country and are used to horses and cows but this was way too much to have at a camp site. There was a platform to put a tent on but it was small and our tent would not fit on it so we wouldâve been pitching a tent in cow s**t. So I donât personally recommend camping here but for some people it may work.
Stars & Vines Camping
in Lakeview Glamping Near Murphys, CaliforniaWe booked this as an instant book and want to say thanks to Sara for welcoming us at the last minute! The site is really nice with views of a vineyard and surrounding foothills. Super private and Sara and James provide everything needed for an awesome trip. Lots of stars at night and a great launching spot for all the cool stuff around the area. We only stayed one night but it was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks again Sara!
Hearse Crew Camp
in Jamul hideaway, CaliforniaWas hoping for a remote camp that was still close to everything and Hearse Camp did not disappoint! Huge boulders, stunning sunsets, wildlife... It was really was beautiful. Thanks Brian for sharing the property. Had a great time and canât wait to go back!
Wagon Camp site
in Cuyama Badlands, CaliforniaOnce again Songdog Ranch does not disappoint! We were camping with our infant baby and elderly dog so opted for the Popup glamp site which is a newer site I believe. Jim and his hosts are incredibly welcoming and nice. They provide everything needed for a perfect desert weekend. Thereâs really not much more you can say about Songdog that hasnât already been said. Its such amazing spot and a huge thanks to Jim and all who make it possible!
TCH -Canned Ham, 55 Terry Trailer
in Lil Lo, CaliforniaSite 1 - Twisselmanâs Glamping by the Pond
in Twisselman Ranch, CaliforniaWe had an amazing time at the Twisselmanâs ranch. The glamping tents were beautiful and clean, and had every amenity needed. The bed was very comfortable and they provided lanterns and solar lights, plus extra blankets. Our tent also had a wood burning stove for cold nights. They had just installed new showers with on demand hot water and the three plumbed bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. we enjoyed wandering the dirt roads around the campsite. There were multiple zones to hang out in and options for fire pits and grilling. We played horseshoes! The pond had a couple of docks with canoe/ paddle boats where we will definitely fish next time. It was extremely peaceful watching the birds during the day and listening to all the animals at night. The Twisselmans were extremely accomodating and super nice. They were available for anything we needed, yet allowed us our privacy. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience and we canât wait to come back. Thank you Adrien and Ethan for opening up your ranch for us to enjoy!
Songdog Glampout
in Cuyama Badlands, CaliforniaThanks Jim for an amazing Thanksgiving! What else can I say that hasn't already been said in the reviews for the Songdog Glampout? Jim is a welcoming, gracious host and has provided everything needed for a truly memorable camping trip. The landscape is breathtaking and we are already planning our return trip. Thanks again Jim for an amazing experience!
Hot Mineral Springs Hideaway
in Sky Valley Camp, CaliforniaIf you're looking for a funky, eclectic, true desert experience, I would highly recommend the Vintage Caravan! Its perfectly located in Sky Valley so there's easy access to Joshua Tree, Pioneertown, Salton Sea, and Palm Springs. The Caravan has everything you need for a comfortable home-base and Sarah is an amazing host! Soaking in the hot mineral tub at night gazing at stars while coyotes howl, lounging under palm tress while playing guitar, taking photos of snow capped mountains, this is why we love the desert and why I am counting the days until we return! Thanks again Sarah for creating such an awesome place!
