We had 5 adults and 1 dog and 3 days to enjoy this great camp site. The gazebo and really nice wooden picnic table were large and provided the perfect spot for covered dining and games. The site has solar lighting around the perimeter so you can easily navigate around at night, although flaslights are a big help. There is plenty of level ground for pitching tents and the views make it seem like you're miles and miles from anywhere but the town of Jamul is just 12 minutes away. The host, Brian, is extremely accommodating and responsive so dont hestiate to reach out with questions or comments. He's provided detailed instructions on the use of the composting toilet. Water is limited so we brought lots for washing up and drinking. Great spot.
This spot is incredible. It’s amazing how you can feel so far away from everything, not far from town. My wife and I couldn’t stop smiling as soon as we pulled up to the top. The must and fog rolling through, passing the giant boulders felt we were in a different world. Also, the climbing there is historic and very quality. I can’t wait for my next trip here.
This place is gorgeous, very isolated & private, especially since we were the only campers. You will want several days to enjoy the scenery, hike the trail & soak it all in! And Brian was so accommodating.
Our short time was amazing & we’d definitely come back!
Absolutely amazing spot. Beautiful views, fun hiking trail, nice pavilion. Road going up is fairly steep and loose gravel. I was in a 4x4 but some cars may be able to make it. Highly recommend this spot.
I really enjoyed my stay at Hearse Camp. Brian was a friendly and responsive host who made sure the site was clean for us. The site itself had great spots for both camping and hiking different trails with some great views. It was easy to get to and even the dirt road leading into the campsite was not as bad as I thought it would be driving up! I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a quick one-night getaway.
Was hoping for a remote camp that was still close to everything and Hearse Camp did not disappoint! Huge boulders, stunning sunsets, wildlife... It was really was beautiful. Thanks Brian for sharing the property. Had a great time and can’t wait to go back!
