We had such a great time at Walden Ranch. It was simple, peaceful, and exactly what we needed.
Right when we arrived, we were greeted by Alan’s dogs, three big ones and two small ones, roaming around and welcoming us in. It immediately made the place feel warm and relaxed.
Being able to use the canoe whenever we wanted was one of our favorite parts. Just being out on the water, quiet and surrounded by nature, felt really calming. The bonfire at night was another highlight. Sitting there listening to the sounds around us made it easy to slow down and just enjoy the moment. Alan had wood ready for us, and Brian brought more later, which we really appreciated.
One of the most memorable parts was going on a hayride with Alan and his family to feed the heifers, cows, and bull. It was such a genuine, hands-on experience and something we do not get to do often.
There were also so many animals around. A peacock, a potbelly pig which was such a fun surprise, and all kinds of birds including geese, ducks, chickens, and songbirds. It really added to the whole experience of being there.
Alan is a really nice, genuine person, and we loved talking with him about his backpacking trips. You can tell he really cares about the place and the experience he creates for guests.
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience.
Sitting at home now, it is one of those trips that still makes us smile. We are really grateful for the time we spent there and would definitely come back and recomment

This was my second time here. I brought a friend, and we had the best & most relaxing time. Together we have a little pack of 4 small dogs that just loved to run around in the wild and befriend Allen's little crew of rescue dogs. The place is so peaceful & gorgeous. I told all my friends about it. Allen is a kind and thoughtful man that loves all the animals and makes sure you have everything you need. We will be back soon!!!

We loved camping at Walden Ranch. The owner Alan is super nice and very kind. We were playing with his dogs and chickens. The view of this place is priceless. The camp site is private and quiet . Alan was very kind to take our whole family in his tractor to feed his cows. Our frist time here but for sure we will be back!

My kids and I had a very memorable time at Walden's Ranch. The land, the animals, and most importantly, the host, Alan, made this visit very special.
Alan was such a kind soul and extremely personable and patient with people and Kids. We had some great conversations and incredible experiences that wont be forgotten for along time.

I highly recommend staying at Walden ranch! It is a beautiful property with lots to do, especially if you have little ones. Alan was an amazing host. He immediately made us feel safe and welcomed. He even took us and our kids on a tractor ride to meet and feed some of his animals. We loved meeting and spending time with all of the animals on the property. This place was better than any other campground or state park we’ve stayed. Can’t say enough good things about this place. 10/10 😁

What a hidden gem! We stayed for three nights, and it was fabulous. It’s just rough enough to feel like camping while still having every amenity you need to be very comfortable. We brought a camp stove and setup a pretty legit kitchen in the communal area. The bathrooms feel very… outdoors, but they flush and have privacy with no smell. It’s a far cry from digging a hole in the woods! And all for the price of a state campground? Sold! Alan is also the sweetest man. He left fresh eggs for us, took us along to feed the cattle one day, and answered all of our questions promptly. No complaints at all. Wonderful experience, and we’ll be back.

Very nice and comfortable stay, all the animals were amazing especially all 7 dogs all so nice and friendly and Alan was beyond nice and even gave us a ride on the tractor for a hay ride to feed the cows, canoes to use to paddle around the lake. definitely a very nice place and will be coming back

Absolutely beautiful property! Alan is an incredible host, he took me, my husband, and our 1 year old on a hayride to feed all of the cattle and we loved it! All of the animals on his land made the trip, it was so so much fun. Highly recommend visiting! We were only there one night but didn’t want to leave!

It’s a really simple spot with everything you need. The pond is absolutely beautiful and everything was so nice and green. All the farm animals are so fun but also loud if that isn’t something you are used to. Allen was really kind and welcoming.

We all loved staying here and we would come back again (hopefully when it’s not raining). Alan was super friendly and the site, bathroom, water, canoes, hay rides, etc were all perfect. We did see another review to pack earplugs because it can be loud at night (the geese lol) so we all slept great. I would definitely recommend people think about what dogs they bring since there are many loose unneutered male dogs that are friendly and come around to the site regularly (as well as a pig!) One younger pup, (a jack russel mix?), repeatedly peed on our things but I think he’s still learning from the other pups how to behave. Overall we had lots of fun and definitely recommend this place.

We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.

I had an amazing time on Alan’s land. There was plenty of animals around from chickens, dogs, Lammas, donkeys and cows and it was just magical. I highly recommend visiting this place if you have a chance.

We're coming back here! Affordable and well worth it. The highlight was definitely the animal feeding-it was straight up magical. Like a scene out of a movie!
Traditional camping with some modern luxuries like flush toilets and a dishwashing sink. The animals were charming and nature's alarm.
Just a couple of heads up-the area can get quite wet and foggy. Things will get wet overnight.
The farm dogs, Sparky and Little Red were cute but quite persistent with our female dog.
It is an actual ranch so bring earplugs. Roosters started crowing at 10pm and continued to do so at random intervals.
For all you cityfolk, it is a ranch, so watch your step.
All in all, LOVE this hipcamp.

It was my first time staying here, but it honestly felt like home right away. There’s something about this place that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and truly appreciate everything around you. The peaceful surroundings and quiet moments in nature made my stay so special and refreshing.
Alan is such a kind-hearted and genuine person. He makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive and really cares that guests have a good experience. You can tell this place is meaningful to him, and that warmth carries into the whole stay.
If you’re looking for a place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with nature (and yourself and God), this is it. I’m so grateful I got to experience it and would absolutely love to come back.

My family spent two wonderful nights here. We were warmly welcomed by Alan, Brian, Mark and the pups. Brian was especially helpful and friendly. The highlights of our trip were feeding the animals off the hay trailer, canoeing at will, freedom to explore the beautiful acreage and the tranquil ambience. We will most definitely be returning, with a trip already in the works. Highly highly recommend visiting this magical place at least once.

Awesome campsite, great spot for a lowkey trip with some buddies. Alan was an amazing host meeting us quickly after our set up and offering a hay ride to feed the cows (definitely recommend!) Along with Rafael one of the ranch helpers. Special shout out there funny dude showed us what to do and let us help him feed the cows. Brian was also an awesome guy and provided plenty of wood for our fire and a pretty nice firework show with his buddy Frank as we were there for the NewYear.
Dogs were all fun to have around and all of the animals were cool to watch all day.
100% recommend this site and I plan to return myself too.

This is our second time visiting Walden farm. We were snug in our truck camper and our doggies in the back seat. If Emilia the pit belly pig invades your campsite you can leader away just by calling or give her a gentle bump on her rear-end.

Alan's land is peaceful and a sight to behold. The camp layout gives you plenty of privacy, yet you're just a short walk from flush toilets, a food-prep area, a fire ring, a big table, and even a sink — everything you need close by without feeling crowded.
Alan himself has a sweet, laid-back nature, and we really enjoyed chatting with him about his animals. There are so many sweet creatures to wake up with in the morning (and we really fell in love with the brown and white ranch dog who is a cuddle bug). The whole place has a calm, welcoming energy.
We absolutely can’t wait to come back. And for birders — this was a paradise. We spotted at least 20 different species right from the property.

This place is special. If you’re looking to get up close with herds of cattle, alpaca, horses, mules, farm dogs, geese and a massive pig this is the spot. Be prepared for lots of night noises- the animals talked all night long. We had great weather and the place to ourselves which was a treat but this farm would be great for groups. Our dog was off leash running with the farm dogs most of the time- and you could smell it on her. Alan’s dogs were very gentle, but they have free range. There was also a comically large pig wandering about. If Alan asks if you want to feed the herd, say yes! We witnessed a minutes-old calf getting up on her feet, while we slinging hay. It was a very cool experience. We would definitely come back for a visit.

As a solo female camper, I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming or unforgettable experience. The ranch itself stretches across 300 acres of pure peace and wide-open beauty—complete with cows, donkeys, and even a sweet little calf that stole my heart (and got its bottle from me!).
The mornings—or, more accurately, the very early mornings—were accompanied by peacocks and roosters who seem to think 3:30 AM is sunrise. Instead of being annoyed, I laughed every time. It’s part of the ranch’s charm: nature doing whatever nature wants.
The highlight of my stay was joining the host to feed the cattle. I never realized how vocal cows could be until I was surrounded by a chorus of them, each with their own personality and voice. It was grounding, beautiful, and completely mesmerizing.
If you’re craving solitude, connection with animals, and a slice of real country life, this place is a must. It’s safe, peaceful, and full of small, magical moments that remind you how good it feels to slow down and just be.

Loved, loved, loved the meadow, the ponds, feeding hay to the herds, picking up carrots to feed the two horses and two so lies. Alan is a kind man who adopted 7 dogs so our two felt right at home off leash. The farm is >300 acres. We’lll be back!

I had a wonderful weekend at the farm. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place with cows, dogs, lamas and many more. My three pups had a blast running around and getting to know everyone. The owner is a wonderful person and I will for sure be back to camp here.

If I lived in a city down there I'd be bringing my kids to this place. I was just passing through. At night you can hear the baby dinosaurs crying out from the trees. It's amazing...
