The price of camping includes the Ranch experiences of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun.
We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses.
*NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers.
We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink.
Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees).
We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station).
Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.

The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis. While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. Spacious easy table access campsites, simplicity in location, beautiful views, awesome clean bathroom with open shower, plenty of hot water, tidy well laid out place to land while we were in town for a fair. Prompt response from Matt who went above and beyond. Would definitely stay here again.

I loved our car camping experience at Walden’s Ranch. We were surrounded by animals all weekend, on our first day we were greeted by pigs, peacocks, alpacas, and chickens. We were also able to take an evening walk to an extended lake on the property. One note I would make is to be prepared for the smell as you will be staying on a farm.

This is the pinnacle of Hipcamping!! The space was so private, next to scenic vineyards and a lake, with electricity and running water, and flushing toilets! A fantastic place to watch the stars at night, close to creature comforts, yet in the middle of nature. A fantastic experience!

1 night at Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views
We had an incredible night here. Made dinner out on the treehouse deck while taking in all the views. The bed was cozy!
They have everything you need in the treehouse to cook your dinner, eat, and enjoy your evening. The shower situation was lovely and you have a view as you are getting clean.
There was friendly dogs and chickens we met.
We had a great experience! Would recommend to others!

My dog and I were greeted by a little dog on arrival who hung out while I set up.
I messaged Alan a question about the dogs and he came to greet us with several dogs who were social with me; he shared some were dumped there that he continues to give lots of great care for 🥹
I kept my dog in the vehicle most of the time (except when Alan was on the other side of the property with the dogs) because my dog would’ve struggled with one of the big dogs’ behavior. I am a dog behavior professional and observed this dog bullying the other dogs, at one point repeatedly pinning and growling toward a herding breed dog even after the herding dog tried many strategies to get relief/away, like look aways/avoidance/moving away/appeasement signals and staying prolongedly frozen on the ground). My dog is socially savvy and generally enjoys other dogs; I just wasn’t comfortable having her interact with that dog.
In the morning, I woke up to one of the larger dogs jumping and scratching my car door (camping setup in vehicle so that’s where I slept) which my dog was scared by.
I enjoyed Alan’s animals—chickens, roosters, peacocks, llamas, cows, horses, and dogs (and probably more) and loved hearing about Alan’s dogs, animals, land, and stories.
My suggestion might be to fence off some Hipcamp area so the farm dogs can still roam freely but Hipcampers (and their cars/dogs) can have a barrier between them and the farm dogs when it’s helpful.
Overall a great place to stay!

Amy's land is a great place for campers. Not too crowded even when full. Felt homey. Toilets are clean, and there is a spot for showering. The views are majestic. Just be ready for when the clouds roll in. They will condense into water droplets. Great experience overall

Clean, well-kept campground. Lots of space and privacy and short walk to reservoir swimming access! Closest proper hikes are 45m-1hr away. We had 10 people for two nights, and 4 dogs that got along well with the friendly host dogs.

Pros: great communication, more rural feeling than I thought for how close it is to civilization (behind an undeveloped hill), every site has picnic table and fire pit, gate code worked flawlessly. There's a place to buy wood up the road
Cons: The ground is extremely compacted (hard to even insert tent stake) and grass consists almost entirely of spinas/stickerburrs and foxtails, dog owners be extra careful. Probably a non issue for RVers
Overall very nice, would stay again

Big open space in the Livermore Hills. Great for just hanging out and relaxing. There’s a nice patio area by the tasting room that they offered for us to use with fire pits. Be aware of no fire bans, since the hills can be quite dry.
Bathrooms are clean and easy to walk to. Tasting room was closed but Kelly was nice enough to allow us to buy some of her favorite wines. We ended up finishing both bottles!
Ground is a bit rocky so be prepared with cots or air mattresses if you are tent camping.
