I had the best time here! I got to check out a couple of the accommodations and they were both amazing! I ended up staying in the A-frame cabin and it was absolutely perfect! Brittany gave me a warm welcome as soon as I pulled in and showed me around. There are horses, dogs, chickens and ducks wandering the property so make sure to say hi to them. I went and explored Champagne ponds which was just a short drive away. The other campers were friendly and it was nice to hang out in the communal kitchen area. I recommend! :)

The entire property is gorgeous. Debbie is a sweetheart. The description matches everything on the property, I loved taking a shower in the outdoor shower. My tent was cute and cozy, I will definitely be back. Mahalo!

I arrived at this Hipcamp and was sad when the host wasn't expecting me :(

Thankfully there was a really nice guy working there that helped me!! He cleaned up one of the other camping platforms, which was really lovely and peaceful. It wasn't the one I had originally booked, but it was nice. I walked to the tidepools and borrowed some of the snorkeling gear.

Kapoho is a pretty remote area. I enjoyed my time in Hilo and Captain Cook a bit more. Also, the property itself is a little bit dirty. The camping cabins are all nice and clean though!!

My 5-year-old daughter and I loved it here! Deb is so nice and that makes all the difference. We pitched our own tent in a secluded spot under mac nut trees and had fun with the dogs, horses, and ducks. While some Hip Camp farms here on the Big Island are less than friendly (people and animals both) and super loud—I’m thinking of a particular farm in Kealakakua we camped at last weekend—Deb’s place is calm and about as quiet as a farm can be. The gravel road nearby has essentially no traffic and the animals are on the older side, very friendly, and great with kids. The peacocks make a little noise but only during the daytime as far as I could tell. And, shockingly, we didn’t hear or see any roosters, which is unusual in Hawaii and was nice in the wee hours of the morning. Deb is flexible about everything including where you pitch your tent and park, so you can find a nice spot on your own. She also has wall tents which looked very cozy, although we didn’t stay in one. Her home is a project house so it’s simple and Puna funky. There are hot showers inside and outside and a roomy communal kitchen area with a fridge. Keeping food inside your vehicle or inside the house is the only big rule—one frisky young horse will help himself!

Kapoho is a great area with the Champaign Ponds (thermal pools) and the Kapoho Pools (amazing snorkeling with the best coral in Hawaii—in my opinion) a walk or very short drive away. You can also day trip to Volcano National Park from here or to Kalapana to watch the lava flow.

If you want to explore Puna and camp, do it here!
