We live on 19 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

Located on the 1983 lava flow field. There are uneven surfaces that require careful attention but is safe for the adventurous and fit. There a 10' x 12' raised deck gazebo with a picnic table and ample surfaces for exercising and stretch yoga. We are a few minutes from the black sand clothing optional beach and clean ocean soaking/swimming and Uncle Robert's Wednesday night music extravaganza. There are refrigerators available and a composting toilet and a hot water shower for conservative water showering as all water must be transported in. The advantage is very little rain and lots of sunshine makes this location a pleasure with fluffy clouds to look at that don't get you wet!!! 2 furnished small houses and a gazebo with ample parking space and solar charging for electronics. Starlink WiFi is available and will provide connectivity and cell phone links ! You will need to bring flashlights and rechargeable battery packs if you require any portable power. The property is about a 15 minute drive to Ocean View town center, and about an hour to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Ocean View is the only community between Captain Cook and Volcano with restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities. There are dogs, cats, and peacocks living on the farm. There are a variety of native and food plants growing on the property. At this elevation, the climate can be quite chilly, so please come prepared for the weather. We are happy to provide guided adventures in your personal or rental vehicle, or provide information to enhance your adventure. Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

Enjoy the country life in Kau on the South End of the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there. You don’t need a 4WD to get to our place, but you will need a SUV or truck. Go slow the road is bumpy and rough in places. We are 1.2 miles from the highway. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 100 feet away. Hipcamp kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest, No fridge. No oven. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious! This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and Tmobile work also The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! The back 15 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve. We have beautiful furnished cabins with beds, so you don't have to pitch a tent. Pillows, blankets, fresh towels provided.

We are an off-grid intentional community in the rain forest of East Hawaii in the Puna district. We have acres of tropical fruit trees, clumping bamboo, bananas and other plants. We have about 20 different tropical breeze houses, which are hand made screened in structures that are nestled into the forest along walking trails. We're at the end of a 3 mile long unpaved road, so we are very secluded and have little outside noise. We are not a bed and breakfast, we are not a farm, we are not a place looking to rent cabins -- we are an intentional community and Permaculture homestead whose primary mission is healing, activating, and living our holistic hearts in multigenerational bonded community. We are growing holistic culture and creating a beautiful world together. We want to share this place and find partners in our mission/play/joy (both short and long term). We have a men's dorm and a women's dorm and breeze houses for couples and families. We do allow camping, but we rarely have it happen. People usually sleep in our buildings. We have two communal kitchen, living room, dining rooms, communal showers, and lots of space to explore nature.

He made us coffee in the morning, gave us a lovely tour of the property, and was such a joy to chat with. He even sent us home with fresh fruit and flowers! The cottage itself was cozy and comfortable, and I was especially happy to find the shower had nice hot water. Highly recommend!

We loved visiting with Thomas! We had so much fun feeding the chickens they were so cute and small.And we also loved feeding the koi fish.And at night we heard frogs.The shower was warm which we appreciated after a sweaty day exploring the national park. It rained mostly every day but we were dry inside. Our 8 year old loved sleeping in the loft. When we drove onto the property, there was a big sign to beware of dog…. The reality was a teeny dog named Yip which gave us all a big laugh. Yip has a big bark and personality and does not bite :)

This was good for a one night stop on our trip around the island - nothing too fancy but not too shabby either. Inside the trailer is quite literally just the mattress, but Henry has laid out a nice outdoor area to hang out. Cold water only for the shower and bathroom is two port-a-potties, which is fine when camping. Host was very responsive and maintained privacy.

Yip Camp provides a setting that promotes immersion in nature.
