I am retired living a good life on 38 acres with my horses, mules, donkeys, a mini Zebu steer, my 2 dogs and cat.. I've had friends visit that had such a nice quiet time.. suggested I share it so others could enjoy, there will be work in progress ongoing but I've had a lot of upgrades and improvements to allow you to have a safe and enjoyable getaway.. Learn more about this land: If you only need water and a place to park for your self contained camper, van or tent, this will work perfect for you.. there is a seating area in the upstairs area of the barn to enjoy watching the hummingbirds and watching the livestock.. Or simply to enjoy the quiet, if you are traveling with your horses, you can set up your panels for no additional charge or for a few, we have stall and lots available..

This property is a short 1/2 mile down a well maintained dirt road, a very quiet area, only 3 miles from our humble small town that has 2 eating spots, a Piggly Wiggly, a few shops downtown including a hardware store. You'll be parking near the pastures and lots, enjoy watching the mules grazing from your campsite or enjoy your morning coffee in the loft. Where friends are made and stories shared.. if you are traveling with horses you may set up your portable pen , ground tie or when available, use one of our 1/3 acre lots with covered barns for up to 2 horses at no extra charge. If you prefer your horses in a stall, we can make arrangements for an additional fee. Ask about discounted rates for long-term

We are just 5 miles to a small town. 12 miles to Troy, Al and about 40 miles to Dothan. There is rarely traffic on the road, I walk it and ride my horse / mule, quite frequently I take Romeo, the Zebu steer for walks down the road also. If you have a wide tire bicycle you might enjoy riding it around our block (5.5 miles). This campsite is closer to the Red Barn loft. If you are traveling with horses, you are welcome to set up a portable pen, ground tie or I have a small lot that will work for 2 at no charge.. if you'd prefer a stall I do have them for an additional charge, please shoot me a message if you'd like a stall message me to be sure there is availability.. Ask about discounted pricing for long-term

Sweet farm, peaceful stay!!!!

What a pleasant, peaceful night at this farm! Cindy greeted us at sunset and so did her sweet kitty - who came up and started doing lawn biscuits the second we parked!! Thank you for such a safe space to land for the night. Highly recommend and off we are in the area again we will be back!

Poor but Proud Stables

I came back to Poor but Proud stables since my first stay there was so great. Again, everything was perfect. I love the animals. The cat who greeted me was the best part of my day. After driving ten hours, I am so thankful for such a reliable place to settle in and get some shut eye. So peaceful and quiet.

What a beautiful location. So peaceful and quiet. I slept like a baby in my mini camper at the RV site. Cindy is such a wonderful host. Greeted me and showed me all the amenities. I love all the animals on the farm and wish I had more time to visit and get to know Cindy better as well as the animals but I was off before the sun came up on my way south. I not only recommend this himcamp to others but also hope to stay there again on my way north

I took a girl on a first date here and it was amazing! Cindy was super helpful with directions and let us follow her to her property from the main road. The view of the stars was incredible and we’ll definitely be back.

Quiet peaceful field!

My overnight stay was perfect! The directions were easy to follow. I arrived after dark and to prevent it being tricky for me, Cindy met me to show my the entrance. My spot was level and the grounds were very well kept. I saw the donkeys when I arrived and was sad when they were not in the field in the morning so I could have a quick visit with them. The place is safe, quiet, and just beautiful. It was a very short distance from the interstate. I hope to come back and spend two nights so I can enjoy hiking and biking in the area. The stars at night were gorgeous!
