Convenient stop for the night or a base camp for a few days to see the area for RV’s or Tent campers - a good place to get a hot shower - only a easy mile a half from I-20 exit 173 ( Eastaboga - Talladega Superspeedway Exit ) also a good base camp to see Cheaha State Park - bike at Coldwater Mountain- see the Talladega Superspeedway , Combat Park Flea Market , Citizens Marksmanship Park, Oxford ballgames or other area Activities - I reserve two RV sites and two tent sites thru hipcamp and rent the other 14 RV sites usually on a monthly basis - these hipcamp tent sites are wooded, shady with woods between the other sites to give some privacy while still not far from the unique showers made from the old chicken house feed bins. The RV sites are in a more open area near the highway.

We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65.
I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served.
WIFI is available! (please ask for password).
We have a portable toilet (portable-potty) for your use.
This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails.
This is also a hobby farm with livestock (two Donkeys, two Goats and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you!
My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from barking during the night.
We also host three AirBnBs, so other guests may be here as well.
Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back.
We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water.
Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

Solomon's Garden is a humble 5 acre working homestead located in the Black Warrior River valley. This working farm and community space provides glamping and camping options. Included is a 3 stall shower house with flushing toilets and hot water showers with enough room to change comfortably. Guests are welcome to drive right up to their tents (in dry weather) and within 50 feet in rainy weather.
We currently have a semi-private camping area in our small orchard that is flat and grassy that we recommend for tent campers on any day. We also have a larger, more remote camp area available for those looking for a more complete glamping experience. Our canvas tents are equipped with electricity, lighting, pillow-top mattresses, linen and plenty of space for relaxation and luggage.
Guests can request the number of beds needed for their stay. If you're traveling with children, twin beds are available. If you're traveling alone or as a couple you can choose a full bed. We want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Enjoy evenings by the fire at our communal fire pit, situated between the logs.
Add-ons include: Propane camp stoves, refrigerator space, use of the community kitchen, wood stove heaters, farm fresh eggs and more. Guests are also welcome to walk our nature trail, lined with the stumps from our beloved forest which are now covered in herbs and berries.

Private, quiet, off-grid, trails, wildlife, a creek, camping, authentic. The cabin sits in the middle of a ten-acre property adjacent to the Talladega National Forest. It is located eight miles north of the small town of Heflin, Alabama, which is about an hour and a half from the metro areas of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. For example, an easy, straightforward drive down I-20 West makes Turkey Track Retreat a perfect quick weekend getaway for Atlanta residents looking to escape the city noise.
The cabin is surrounded by hundreds of square miles of forest. To the west, directly behind the cabin, there are over nine miles of continuous forest before reaching a hard-top road, and beyond that, over six miles to the next road. To the north, there are over sixty miles of continuous forest to the next road. Pinhoti Trailheads are nearby.
The ten acres is mostly forested, and all surrounding properties are similarly wooded. The back side of the property is bordered by a year-round creek. There are two open meadows, one of which is a pawpaw orchard.
Trails and a covered pavilion are located down by the creek. In season, you can enjoy blueberries, blackberries, and muscadines. Because the property is so remote—and because the surrounding areas adhere to International Dark Sky standards—you can enjoy spectacular stargazing on clear nights.
If you are looking for an off-grid experience in a forest and a quiet place to get away, this is the place for you.

Occasional blue herons and white egrets frequent the water and wild geese have been sighted on the pond. The camping area is very quiet and accessible by single controlled-access road. Long-horned cattle are in nearby pasture and 3 horses and a donkey are nearby in another pasture.

Our fist time we tent camped at Bates farms. It was the perfect place and beautiful scenery all around. The second stay was a 10 day Rv camping. My spot i needed electricity hook up. I was close to restrooms, shower house, washer and dryer also ice was available there was an ice machine. My stay was very convenient close to where I needed to be. If you love to walk and explore like I do you want be disappointed. Beautiful place and nature all around.
The host are wonderful helping with my stay.

We had a great stay at Field of Dreams at Happy Hooves. Brian was an excellent host and communicated with us throughout the entire process, from booking through our stay. Everything was exactly as expected, and we had absolutely no issues with either the property or the host.
The location was also very convenient to Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama, which made it a great home base for our visit.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend Brian and Field of Dreams at Happy Hooves!

Overnight stay but hosts were very accommodating and pleasant to talk to. Had the 30amp service/water needed and a nice view while staying. Shower/restroom facilities were clean and they offer some snacks and drinks in their secure bldg. If your into archery they have a nice extensive range w/numerous 3d targets throughout.
I would stop by again if my travels took me though that area again.

Wonderful rest stop. Very peaceful with minimal bugs. The site was nicely laid out, complete with fire wood, string lights and a table. I didn't actually meet the host but he was very quick to respond via phone to a minor problem( I got lost) The gps coordinates will take you right there. Would definitely recommend and stay again when I'm out that way!

Central Alabama
Urban campers can find plenty of distractions in Birmingham, but Alabama’s largest city is also within easy reach of some of the state’s most memorable natural landscapes. Great hiking, biking, and camping can be found in Talladega National Forest, after which you can scale Alabama’s highest peak at Cheaha State Park and explore ancient caves at Rickwood Caverns State Park. Other popular campgrounds are found at Lake Lurleen and Wind Creek state parks.
South Alabama
Montgomery is the gateway to south Alabama and neighbouring Selma is a key stop on the Civil Rights trail, but outside of the cities, south Alabama is all about lakeside camping. To the east, Lake Eufaula is known as the “Big Bass Capital of the World” and has a wide choice of campgrounds, while nearby Blue Springs State Park offers plenty of lake camping. To the west, the Tombigbee River Valley is also prime for getting on the water.
Gulf Coast
Alabama’s 60-mile stretch of Gulf Coast shoreline is the place to cool off from the summer sun, spot shorebirds along the wetlands, or tee off at one of many coastal golf courses. RV parks are easy to find around the resort towns of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, while Dauphin Island remains a perennial favorite for beach camping. Alternatively, snag an RV site with full hookups at Gulf State Park, or book a cabin on the shores of Lake Shelby at Meaher State Park.
