Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
We are currently *under construction*. Our forest was damaged by the draught and so there are changes underway. Please excuse our appearance as we shift toward becoming a food forest. Solomon's Garden is a 5 acre homestead located in the Black Warrior River valley. Our site is currently under land work construction, as we are recovering from the pine beetle disaster that has ravaged Alabama. Our beautiful pine trees are no more and we are in the process of rebuilding the campground, planting a food forest and adding an additional shower/toilet facility. We currently have a semi-private camping area in our small orchard that is flat and grassy that we recommend for tent campers on any day. We also have a larger, more remote camp area available on dry days. We expect land work to be complete in June and are eagerly awaiting the grass, wildflowers and native herbs to return following all this spring rain.

Pitch your tent in the pine forest beyond a seasonal spring in the back woods of Alabama. Enjoy access to electrical outlets, (BYO heavy duty 100 ft. extension cords) bamboo shower house, organic garden and lovely views of the rising and setting sun.   Your stay will be complemented by the dogs who roam and protect the property, who can be chained for your comfort as needed. We have 10 camp sites available. 2 of these sites are accessible with campers or RVs.  Potable water access is available within a 2 minute walk from your camp but bring your own containers. These sites offer privacy and peace.  If you are boondocking or dry camping they are perfect.  If you need power and water, you have access to electrical outlets. BYO 10 gauge extension cord  (100ft +).

Homestead Incubation Program Sites

Homestead Incubation Program Sites are reserved for participants of our training programs. Sites accommodate participants with glamping tents, full sized beds, tables, chairs and all the gear needed to rest well for full participation in the training. Training dates are March 19-26 or March 24-31, 2024 AND June 18-25, 2024. Please be sure to book the week that works for you in March and the June week to complete program registration.

The tiny cabin at Solomon's Garden is located in the garden area. We reserve this cabin for use by those coming for 3 days or more and assisting with homestead tasks during their stay. Access to the cabin includes access to a private outdoor kitchen and the bamboo shower house. Hot showers, refrigerator, 2 burner camp stove and food storage are available for those who want to enjoy the land and learn basic homestead tasks during their stay.

Minimum booking: 3 nights. Work-Trade Glamp Sites are designed for excellent rest and relaxation for those who are come to assist with Spring Preparation Tasks. Guests will lodge in 4 and 5 meter glamping bell tents equipped with electricity, a choice of propane heat or wood burning stove, a fan, chairs and small tables. All guests will have access to the communal kitchen, and semi-outdoor showers (hot water) as well as composting toilets. Guests will be asked to assist with 3-4 hours of homestead and forestry tasks each day with days off. (About 12-15 hours total if you stay for a week.)

This rustic, lovely, private space on the hill top in the pine forest at Solomon's Garden allows guests a chance to enjoy glamping in an Alabama forest. Christen's Cove is a large camp site carved into a secluded area in our private forest. The 5 meter bell tent offers plenty of room for guests to enjoy the space as a family or stretch out as a couple or solo camper. Surrounded by large solar string lights and hammocks our guests enjoy the peace of a mostly wild forest with many of the comforts of home. Outfitted with electricity, heat and a seating area with a fire pit, guests can set up a grill or camp stove and enjoy a luxurious almost-off-grid experience. Potable water, showers and compost toilets just a few yards away ensure that you do not need to travel far to handle your needs once you have settled in to the space.

It was my pleasure to be here, thank you for the invite, the experience was awesome. Chieftess Sundance & I was talking about doing this very thing on our land, now you & your family has given me a true vision of this possibility becoming a reality. I loved everything, the women sharing there personal life freely, foraging in real time with an expert guide who gave boundless information & making it fun & easy! Sleeping in a tent is wonderful. The food was expertly demonstrated and the taste was on point. I can't say enough & I would do it again. To say the least the price was just right💯

Nice flat area for tents or vehicles. No picnic tables or fire rings, but I pulled out my camp table and it was fine. Very, very quiet. Unique bamboo building with a nice shower.

The stars and night sky were great. The host was available and responsive. I felt secure camping in their campground. The cost is fair. On the other hand, they have done a lot of hard work clearing trees in that area and the campground is a large open dirt field with a long row of lower trunks/roots that runs in the campground. Two friendly little dogs greeted me in the bathroom/shower. I would camp there again if I was passing through the area.

At this point I wouldn't recommend staying there. Everything is under construction and there's no toilet or shower even though this place still pops up in filtered search. We also had to collect firewood on our own and the owner remembered to tell us about water tank late at night when we didn't had any use for it.

Another beautiful night at Solomon's Garden. Ali is my favorite HipCamp host. The campsite had a great view of the stars with minimum light pollution. This is a great place to spend the night or stay and enjoy for as long as you can.

Camping at Tannur’s land was amazing. The tall pine trees standing guard over you while you enjoy the peace and the sites of Red Robin’s - it was a peace of heaven. The stars at night were so clear and the variety of plants was intriguing I feel one stay was not enough to explore all that was offered. I will definitely be back.

Tannur kindly accepted our last-minute booking & my dog & I thoroughly enjoyed our overnight at her magical homestead. My dog enjoyed romping with Tannur’s friendly dogs & seeing a horse for the first time. The land is beautiful & there’s a shower, outdoor kitchen, & composting toilet available to guests. Highly recommend.

First time on this type camping grounds. The scenery is magical. The freshness in the air. The quiet yet not so quiet ( birds, crickets etc. making their music). Can't wait for the next stay over @ Tannur's venue. Amazing experience I'll do it again.

Nice mix of Homestead living off the grid and modern in-home eminities (full kitchen w stove, hot pot, fridge; friendly guard dogs that keep land spaces secure; nice mix of daily "must do" prep chores/projects; great relaxation and conversation round bon fire at dark; great teacher I'm Tannur and her assistant Love; close to grocery stores yet off-the-grid privacy; great portable heater and lights; wonderful placement of outdoor lights and solar lights to illumination walkways, yet great privacy for those possibly near lights; loved washer & dryer if needed; loved there was a doggie village so we didn't need to get a house sitter or pay a kennel or dog daycare

Site 1 Forest Belle Glamp Sites
We LOVED our stay at Solomon’s Garden! We were greeted by Tannur at arrival and she gave us a tour of the land. We spent the weekend in Alabama for a football game. After the game, we shopped and grabbed drinks in Tuscaloosa. Returning back to Tannur’s land was amazing after being in crowds all day long. It was so nice to come back and relax in the peace and quiet, surrounded nature and the most adorable dogs and cats. The community kitchen and restroom was also extremely nice to have right next to our site. We have already recommended this camp to all of our friends and family and are planning our next trip. This is such a cool place to unwind. You will not regret booking a stay with Tannur!

Host was sweet and was great about my 9 pm arrival. She gave a nice tour of the facilities next morning and has worked hard on upgrades. Highly recommend for groups that want to do agri tours/camping. Dogs and cats were fun to play with. Orchard was relaxing and good for level camping. I would recommend for a place to stay over after Alabama home games for camp sites.

Tannur is an amazing and knowledgeable host who has clearly put vast amounts of love into her land and it was an absolute pleasure to invite her to hang out with us at our fire during a couple nights of our stay. The yurts are in great condition and insulate well as we were fortunate to find out during our abnormally (for the area) cold nights. All the facilities Tannur has built to host the various needs of campers are so thoughtfully designed and the aesthetic feels like you're at an island retreat. The doggos are a pleasure and all of them are super sweet pups. If you don't have 4wheel drive you should be prepared that you may need to wheelbarrow your supplies some distance but it's really not bad. If there's any advice to give it's to find a moment to stop and learn something from Tannur, as we were unable to find any topics that she wasn't just as or more knowledgable than ourselves on.

First and foremost, I brought my 8-year-old daughter and she did not touch her tablet until it was time for her to lay down and go to bed. I enjoyed having access to heat inside of the tent, the electrical outlets are plentiful, even though if there was no access to electricity near the tent would be totally fine, plenty of ways to cook food that you bring, the portable potties are a great add, or you can go in the woods, I liked the outdoor shower and it's easy to use. A very relaxing stay and I always enjoy Tannur's company. My baby girl had a great time was skeptical about using the bathroom and the shower, but she did after I did and her response, "it's not so bad mommy!"
