NEED GEAR OR SUPPLIES? We rent tents, propane stoves, water containers, cast-iron grill baskets and griddles, an Anker Portable Power Station, kerosene heaters, and more. We sell charcoal, propane, and Mimikai Tick Repellent Spray, which is scientifically proven to be as effective as DEET while remaining nontoxic and DEET-free. The Big Sky Tent Deck is our most popular site! It is no wonder: You get to experience all the benefits of backcountry camping without the long hike in. Sweeping pastoral views of the Vermont countryside await you less than six-tenths of a mile from your car. IMPORTANT: This is a hike-in site up a steep, difficult hill. We think it is worth the extra effort! The site includes: • An 8-foot x 10-foot floating tent deck • A commercial park grill • Adirondack chairs for kicking back and enjoying the view • A fire ring • A picnic table And yes, volunteers carried everything up there on their backs. Don't have a tent? Are you trying to squeeze three people into a two-person tent? Do you just want some additional space? We have four-person tents available to rent. This is a great place to commune with nature, deepen your relationship, and embrace solitude. Swim in our ponds, relax around a campfire, gaze at the stars, visit a local drive-in theater, and more. IMPORTANT: We timed the walk from the tent deck to the parking area, which is slightly downhill. You may be slower walking uphill to the site and even slower while carrying your gear. A Thurber Carnival

Thurber Carnival is our $5-per-night, per-person budget campsite. It is private, secluded, rugged, and bare-bones. This is not one of our standard sites with a finished tent deck. It has an 8-foot x 8-foot platform made from four unfinished wooden pallets. The gaps between the slats have not been filled. The platform is rustic and functional, not smooth or finished. You can pitch a small tent on the platform, especially if you have a good sleeping pad, or camp on the ground. Some mostly level ground is available nearby, depending on your tent size and how particular you are about “level.” Please arrive with reasonable expectations. This is our economy option. Please do not leave a negative review because the site lacks amenities or finishes clearly disclosed here. If you want greater comfort, choose one of our other sites and sleep flat and off the ground. This site includes: • An 8-foot x 8-foot pallet platform • A picnic table • A fire ring • Nearby ground where you may be able to pitch a tent This site does not include the commercial-grade park grill found at our other sites. Because the pallet platform is unfinished, tents and tarps are not available to rent for this site. By booking, you acknowledge that you are choosing a no-frills campsite with a rough pallet platform and a simple setup. Connect with nature all around you when you sleep in our 8-foot x 14-foot greenhouse. This functional greenhouse serves as a special accommodation during the summer and fall. IMPORTANT: COTS ARE NOT PROVIDED. Some photographs show cots inside the Greenhouse, but those cots are not included with your reservation. You are responsible for bringing your own sleeping setup. Made from recycled windows, this magical space is situated away from other campers. You will feel like you are camping alone, and you can relax inside the glass-enclosed space without worrying about prying eyes. This is a great option for anyone who wants to rough it and be outdoors without roughing it completely or being fully outdoors. Warm temperatures can build up during the day, so the top of the greenhouse has open spaces for ventilation. Scott & his furry family were a pleasure to visit. I stayed in the Greenhouse, the view of the moon & rain on the roof in the morning was a much needed peaceful retreat. You must love animals of all kind to appreciate the vibe here, I love what Scitt is doing to make a difference in all the lives of theses precious animals ❤️

Beautiful camping spot! Gorgeous view of the greenery and sunset/sunrise/stars. Super sweet place and Scott is so generous and helpful! Just must say it is a steep hike up, probably about 15 min or so with your equipment/materials, but frankly so worth it! Would love to come again.

Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue was even more delightfully weird and wonderful than I'd hoped it would be. I fell asleep under an almost-full moon in the greenhouse, and woke up to a full barnyard chorus. In the morning, Scott taught me Tai Chi near the pond, and Samantha the donkey joined us! I spent the afternoon reading to a soundtrack of bullfrogs and birdsong. I got to assist with farm chores - which included helping distract Hamilton the pig with veggies during his tusk trim (world's most excited but least qualified vet tech). Scott introduced me to some neighboring campers so we could watch a stunning sunset together. Such a relaxing and also interesting weekend!

Great stop on a road trip with a buddy: got to visit with the animals, watched the sunset from the sky deck, and slept under the stars! Had a nice visit with another camper and the host. The host was even in for a game of cribbage in the AM, which of course we let him win! Will be back to take in the beautiful Vermont location!

Farm Animal Rescue Group Site
Scott was amazing, super helpful and informative. Property is also awesome, with tons of character and built in activities. I was camping with my 14 yo son, so he’s a bit too cool to be bothered with things like the scavenger hunt, but I’m sure less jaded/younger kids would have a blast. Finding the sunrise tent in the dark was really awesome and I stumbled across the light up buddhas on the way. I would suggest it.

A Thurber Carnival
We had a wonderful time visiting the animals and looking at the stars from Willoughby rescue. There was lots of fun to be had nearby and on site. We left a night early because we wanted to avoid the rain, but loved the eclectic and adventurous stay at the Thoreau Stream campsite (not recommended for the faint of heart/folks with less camping experience). It is a short but rugged trek from the parking spot, but the solitude is lovely. Definitely recommend sharing an apple slice with the donkeys, they are very soft if you are gentle.

Such a cool spot! The area is absolutely beautiful, plenty of spots nearby to explore. We loved falling asleep under the stars and waking up to animals grazing nearby. Also, it rained and the greenhouse kept us and all our gear DRY. We would definitely stay here again when in Vermont. Don’t forget to bring carrots and apples for the rescues!

I stayed in the glass greenhouse for my 2 night stay and it was beautiful! I love that the animals are roaming around, genuinely friendly, and very ready for attention, but also seemed to know boundaries. I still can’t get over how beautiful Scott’s refuge is and I didn’t even explore all of it. Scott was helpful and friendly when I met him. It felt very private and safe. I am actually still not over how amazing my experience was during my stay. 100% planning on staying again.

Scott was super accommodating, despite recovering from an injury. He made sure I had everything I needed to stay. The packet that Scott provides was very informative as well as had additional fun things like a scavenger hunts in it. The animals were wonderful and it was fun to be able to spend the night in their company.

Buddha North Tent Deck
Post was super nice, animals were such fun to feed and pet. We stayed at North Buddah which was nice and secluded. The campers before us left some trash at the site which we packed out. The site feels very remote and is up a little bit of an incline to get to. Felt like we were deep in the woods when in reality the farm was right around the corner. It was nice to have the peacefulness. My husband and I stayed overnight so we could be close to the girl Scout camp to pick up my daughter. We came back to the farm with her and she was in hog heaven. If I find myself in the neck of the woods again, I would definitely stay here.

We had such a nice time staying at Scott’s farm. The animals were an absolute highlight so sweet. It is a bit of a steep walk up to the campsite so make sure to pack light and don’t bring any fancy shoes because there is animal manure on the ground near the main area. Apart from that the campsite was clean and Scott was very friendly and inviting. Totally recommend. Ps bring tick spray there are some in the woods!

The farm is a wonderful rugged experience. The animals are adorable and very friendly. We bought carrots and apples at the local store and fed them. It feels good to support a rescue operation...all the animals look happy and cared for.

But still tons of fun - the farm animals were so precious, getting to the site is an adventure (if you’re into that), the hidden things around the land are like little easter eggs when you’re exploring, and Scott was very welcoming to our big entourage

What a wonderful property, and excellent host. You will be treated with a warm smile and a welcoming demeanor. Not only by Scott but also the animals at the rescue. A short hike to your campsite into the forest gives you the perfect amount of privacy and quiet. Beautiful setting, perfectly marked trails, fun little stuff along the way. 10/10 recommend staying here.

Perfect first camping trip for a toddler! Our child loved coming down to the farm from the camp site each morning to say hello to the donkeys. The Buddha north site was quiet and beautiful! We loved the evening firefly show, and evening heard owls in the night. Highly recommend!

It’s not clearly advertised that the site is not just a walk-up, but a hike-to. The trail leading to it is also not well maintained, overgrown and flooded. There are food lockboxes at the site, but you’re not allowed to use them, because that’s where the host keeps his liquor. One could stay at an AMC campsite with more amenities for a third of a cost.

RV camping was perfect. Scott is exceedingly accommodating and kind when unforeseen issues pop up during your trip, of which we had a few to no fault of the farm’s. Our RV ran great off of his 30 amp extension cord provided to us and he made sure to ask multiple times if we needed anything from him. The animals are so well loved and content, as all the other reviews boast. We were greeted by a very sweet mother daughter donkey duo and there were friendly pigs, one who loved belly rubs. If you are here to hike, this is your property. On the last day of our trip I did a trail run while waiting for an issue to be resolved with our camper up to the main overlook. It is such a treat, but bring your tick spray for the summer months. The forest holds all sorts of cool things to scout for (statues, signs, and lots of rest areas to take breaks) as you enjoy the dense wilderness. I would absolutely book again, simply magical!

We loved staying in the Greenhouse! It was a rainy weekend (12th rainy Saturday in a row?) and it kept us perfectly dry. Beautiful location with the sweetest donkeys and pigs! We had a blast.

We had a wonderful experience at the Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue! The view at our campsite was amazing. Scott was very helpful and the campsite had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. Just be warned that it is a bit of a walk to get to the tent site so we found it helpful to have everything packed up in our backpacks.
