in Bonsall Hills, CaliforniaSecluded and peaceful spot. Very easy to get to, great communication from the host. The fire pit and the chairs came in super handy!

BACKCOUNTRY CAMP AREA
in PTC (Closed), CaliforniaWell organized easy hipcamp getaway
Bob is a great host and the site was well kept and fairly secluded from the rest of the property. The signage at the site and the YouTube video with directions and details were very helpful and a step above compared to most of the Hipcamps I've stayed in previously. Highly recommend for an easy getaway in a beautiful setting with sweeping views to the north and the foothills of Palomar Mountain to the south. The area is nicely graded with two tent pads on either end of the site and a large flat area in the middle. Plenty of exploring to do on the fireroad, too!

SD Mountain Escape Shelters
in San Diego Mountain Escape, CaliforniaPast trip
in Magical Harrison Serenity Ranch, CaliforniaFun primitive camping above the clouds! Vicki and her co-hosts were helpful and very communicative with directions. Be aware, the roughly 6 mile dirt road up the mountain is quite bumpy as of May 2020 and probably isn't suitable for cars, but anything like an SUV or Suburu, etc., is fine. The property is on the edge of Palomar mountain with sweeping views of Pala below and forested ridges above. We really enjoyed waking up to see the fog completely covering the valley below and then slowly burning off with the sun.
There are a few permanent structures on the property and it looks like the hosts are sprucing things up to accommodate more consistent camping. There were quite a few other guests during our visit but we were fortunate to snag a secluded, primitive spot at the very bottom of the property with amazing views and out of sight from the other campers. Highly recommend getting this spot! It's essentially car camping because you can drive right up (well, down) to this large pad.
We very much enjoyed this out-of-the-way location with great views and on a property with really special history.

Past trip
in Shangri-La, CaliforniaLovely, out of the way site with super friendly hosts. The meadow was so quiet and beautiful it felt like a different world.
Terrence hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
