Past trip
in Ranch Retreat Camping, MinnesotaThis is my 5th time staying at Ranch Retreat. Itâs my happy place. Jolene is a great host, property is always clean, as is the porta-potty. Trout Creek is lovely, the sound is so soothing. Melts your stresses away. You can be lazy and just hang out, you can visit Great River Bluffs SP and hike or ride your bike on the Root River trail which is a 15 minute drive.

(Dispersed site)
This was our first time camping at the Quarry. The Quarry is just off the interstate, so it was easy to find. The last mile was a little tough due to a steep gravel road and we were towing a trailer. Car campers will have no problem getting there. The Quarry is not clearly marked, so make sure to note the distance given so you don't pass it. We missed the entrance and it was hard to turn around while towing a trailer. Erica met us on site, showed us to our very quiet and secluded spot. They have a port-a-potty on site, wood with a cashbox, fire starters and jugs of water. Even though we were less than a mile from I-90, we barely heard it. The Apple Blossom scenic byway is just a few blocks away, we did hear car/cycle traffic from that road but it was minimal. We barely saw or heard the other campers, so you really get some solitude. The pond frogs and tree frogs sung for hours and lots of birds, even a Mockingbird trying out its frog imitation! Mosquitoes were sparse but knats and no-see-ums were out and biting, so bring some bug spray. Quarry is close to the Mississippi, two Mn state parks, Lanesboro area/ Root River, scenic county roads or a drive to the Wisconsin side of the river. We had a great time and we will go back for sure. Erica and Aaron are great hosts, thank you!

Peace & Quiet RV electric
in Peace & Quiet on my land., MinnesotaQuiet convenient location
My hubby and I really enjoyed our stay with our hosts John and Terry. John met us at the road and directed us to our space and helped us back in our trailer. They are located right outside town and a little off a cty road, it was easy to find and close to amenities. John had firewood stacked set to be lit in the firepit and Terry made us a small gift (we were celebrating an anniversary). We were the only guests this weekend and it was so quiet! John and Terry were friendly, thoughtful and welcoming. They take great pride in their property and it shows. Bird watching on sight was incredible and Jay Cooke is about 10 minutes away. I would not hesitate to camp at Peace and Quiet again, we really enjoyed our stay.

Past trip
in Ranch Retreat Camping, MinnesotaThis was my second visit to Jolenes place and we had a blissfully quiet and relaxing time. The creek was lovely and the weather was perfect. Great location for sightseeing or just relaxing at camp. We spent a day hiking at Great River Bluffs SP, which was 10 minutes away and the second day we bummed around Bluff Country and Lanesboro. Thanks so much Jolene for sharing your little slice of heaven. I can't wait to go back.

Big Trout Creek is beautiful. We were very pleased with our campsite, the creek is beautiful, lots of birds flitting about. We never met Jolene, she was gone for the weekend. Our first night was splendid until 4am when a freak storm came in. By 11am it was flash flooding, our tents blew down and were floating in 6" of water. Then the water came down the bluff in a torrent of unbelievable force. We were then floating in foam and mud. We were frantic to get out trying to pack our stuff covered in mud, while lighting, thunder and torrential rains came down. The creek turned into a raging river. I was terrified. We hung out for hours, scared to leave, not knowing if it was safe to drive due to water rushing over the road. We did not stay a second night. I would book here again, but not this sight, it was the only one out of the 3 sites that was under water. The fact that the host was not on sight to help us was concerning and I will check to make sure someone is on sight if I book again.
Past trip
in 16 Squared Cabin, MinnesotaMy mom and I had a peaceful relaxing stay at 16 Squared. We love to tent camp but we are finding it harder to do so due to our severe arthritis. 16 Squared was the perfect option. Basic rustic cabin in a beautiful QUIET setting without all the work of setting up camp. We were treated to double rainbows, fireflies, two Sandhill cranes and some deer. Our host Amanda was friendly, informative and thoughtful. Cabin is basic but Amanda left the essentials, water, wood, wipes, bugspray, TP, some first aid supplies and S'mores! Nice picnic table and huge firepit, which we did not use, due to the ticks. The outhouse was clean and solar lights provide a lighted path at night. Dogs are welcome, which was so nice. My moms dog Lucy is very aggressive towards other dogs, which makes for some stressful camping at campgrounds. Lucy could not believe her luck! Offleash! For the first time ever! She gives the cabin 4 stars also.
Thanks so much Amanda.

Campsite 2
in SOL VIND - Lakeside Camping Retreat, MinnesotaGorgeous spot on the lake
We stayed with Sarah and Scott for 2 nights in a 15ft travel trailer. Directions were good. You do have to back in from the road but we had no issues and got right in. I suggest walking the road before backing in. The weather was super hot, this is the perfect spot for escaping the heat and enjoying the lake. Our hosts were so friendly and incredibly kind to share their beautiful place. The campsites are close to each other ( we lucked out and had the place to ourselves) but you wonât spend much time at your spot. There is a beautiful clean beach, lots of seating, manicured lawn with plenty of shade. We saw lots of birds there and turtles too. Father Hennepin state park is a short drive away with easy hiking trails. The town of Isle also has 2 convenience stores. There is an outhouse only but Sarah has everything you need in there and it was nice and clean. We did go through a frightening storm, with incredible winds coming off the lake. So if you know itâs going to rain, SECURE everything just in case. We did not and regret that. We had a relaxing and fun weekend and will definitely be back.
