Great location between Murphys and Arnold! We loved the private feel and thoughtful touches like the little dish washing stations. The sculptures were very neat as well! This area could accommodate a large group.

in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, CaliforniaWe were so stoked when our friend told us she got permits for this spot! DO NOT try to descend to the falls... it will result in a $500+ fine. Only observe from above :)
Past trip
in Castle Rock State Park, CaliforniaMy friend and I hiked the Skyline to the Sea trail starting at Castle Rock State Park and ending at Waddell Beach. This took us 32 miles over 3 days and 2 nights. We camped at Waterman Gap Trail Camp on our first night there. It was peaceful and quiet. We actually went in January so the forest was wet and happy. On the third day of the hike we passed the waterfalls known as Berry Creek Falls. I would do again in a heartbeat :)
Past trip
in Inyo National Forest, CaliforniaNice little campground that was perfect weather and not too busy in late September. The sites are tiered so most of them are overlooking the lake. There is a hiking trail that loops around the lake that we didn't get to try, but definitely will be back. It's perfect because it's right outside of the east entrance to Yosemite.
Past trip
in Yosemite National Park, CaliforniaThis flat campground can accommodate a ton of people and was full when I was there in September. There are all kinds of people, some of who are waking up for early adventures so it's best not to bring a rowdy late-night crowd to this campground.
Past trip
in MontaƱa de Oro State Park, CaliforniaTucked away, modest campground. Main attractions are tide pools, beach and small cliffs. Caves make for good photo ops at sunset. Not too far of a drive to towns like morro bay and San Luis Obispo.
Past trip
in Los Padres National Forest, CaliforniaArroyo seco is an awesome hidden gem off of highway 101. It can have a good amount of water after a wet winter. Along the same lines, it can also have very little and stagnant water after a dry winter. Flies can be bad and temps can reach 90+ so I would recommend fall to spring as the best time to check it out.
renee hasn't gone on any trips yet.

in Cosumnes River Somerset Camp, CaliforniaBeautiful river camp
Beautiful camping along a calm river in mid June. There are multiple river access areas with sandy beaches and rocks to find seclusion and enjoy the water. We spent all weekend hanging on the property swimming, relaxing, and exploring! We also loved the wildlife and wildflowers. The flush toilets are an excellent bonus. We would definitely return :)

I would rate this stay eleven out of ten! Such a beautiful hidden gem with lots of grass and space to explore under a canopy of trees. This property has River access, clean functional bathrooms, unique art, and friendly hosts. Not to mention the secret spaces hidden throughout the property, waiting to be discoveredā¦
an overall wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!
Madrone Tree Hill
in Madrone Tree Hill, CaliforniaLovely & peaceful camp vibes
Staying at madrone tree hill was fantastic. We were stoked to enjoy the campground all to ourselves. We load in the meadows one night and watched the falling stars. The host was very receptive to questions via text, and he stopped by one of the days to check in. I had cell service which was helpful for me since I went during the middle of a work week. I would definitely go back :)

Hike in, nice spread out camp spots. Hike another mile to get to the purple sand beach, popular for surfers.
