Sleep in a grassy open meadow in your Big Sur campsite at Andrew Molera Trail Camp, waking early to meander along a trail beside the Big Sur River to Molera Beach—a pristine cove that offers excellent surfing, beachcombing, and access to miles of trails along picturesque meadows, beaches, and striking stretches of coastline. Choose among 24 walk-in campsites, none of which offer much privacy due to the meadow features of the campground. Each campsite is about a .3 mile walk from the parking lot, so come prepared to trek supplies into your site. Sites come equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and access to a food storage locker to keep animals at bay. To truly experience all in nature that Big Sur has to offer, Andrew Molera State Park camping is not to be missed.

The only access is through Cambria from the south or over the mountain from King City off of Hwy 101 There are two small communal guest kitchens, fresh water, a shower/bath and composting barrel poopers. A massive flood in Jan 2021 brought 100's of gigantic full sized redwood trees and boulders smashing down thru most of the land and previous structures. It is and will be in the process of rebuilding for many years to come. Children are welcome. Dogs are welcome off-leash. Alcohol is discouraged. No electronic music devices. Fires in designated pits only. Pack out trash. Accessible from Carmel. READ FULL DETAILS OF LISTING BEFORE BOOKING Centrally located between Carmel and the Heart of Big Sur. On a paved road with quick and easy access to Hwy 1. Adorable little cabin in the redwoods, with upstairs lofted sleeping area (double bed), sleeps 2 people. Kitchen, stove, mini fridge and private bath. Stairs are very steep to loft, with open railing upstairs. Please review pic's before booking. Adults only. The larger main cabin on property, is rented separately. Our cabin is in the Santa Lucia mountains and immersed in nature. Please be aware that wildlife is apart of the rugged Big Sur Coast and mountains. Wildlife encounters are something that is not out of the ordinary. From raccoons, skunks, deer, mountain lions, bats, mice, spiders snakes and all types of birds. We have exceeded measures of to keep occurrances to a minimum and have monthly pest control services. BUT can't guarantee you will not be met with wildlife. ANY ENCOUNTERS DURING YOUR STAY, WILL NOT BE ISSUED A REFUND. If you do not feel comfortable with the paragraph, then please do not book our cabins. Recommendations in Big Sur is Ventana Inn, Post Ranch or something in Carmel or Monterey. 1 Dog allowed, pre-approved by owner and $70fee. No aggressive breeds. Under 50 lbs. Must be leashed, picked up after, not allowed on furniture or left alone. Not allowed in the lofted sleeping area, due to step stairs, open railings. Not safe for animals! If you have a hairy dog, please keep the hair swept and under control. It is not fair for our cleaners to do de-fur the cabin. We allow dogs as a wonderful courtesy and don't want it abused. There is NO cell reception in our area, due to the mountain range. You loose reception once you leave Carmel and head south, or leave Big Sur and travel north to the property. WIFI is available but can be intermittent due to rural location. Text and wifi available, no cell reception, once logged into our internet. INTERNET IS NOT GUARANTEED DURING YOUR STAY. At the beginning of our road, it has a "road closed sign". You CAN get to our cabin. Our road is residential and a dead end. So there is not need to go past our cabin. All hiking and site seeing is along Hwy 1.

Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. To find us, an unmarked road, listed on maps as "Country Lane" (we call it Vega Vortex Rd). Parking is close to our Vega Vortex sign and a short walk to your tent. Filtered potable water, electricity, shower/toilet with an "on demand" hot/cold water are available. Instructions for use are available and should you need assistance - we are here for you! Experience 2 campsites, BYOT (bring your own tent or rent one from us) or an onsite Bell tent. The Bell tent contains carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 cots with bedding, plus a memory foam camping mattress! The BYOT site's measurement is 10' x 10' . Both sites have shaded areas, and picnic tables. A shower and a compost toilet are available. Enjoy a designated smoking/vaping spot, multiple benches, and swings, a "grounding" spot, birding, water fountains and art. A no noise policy by the county occurs at 9 pm. Due to a high risk fire zone, no open fires. Due to the proximity of the tents right next to Vega Rd, sounds from vehicles can be heard. We are situated in a rural neighborhood setting, with sounds of sheep, goats, chickens, wild turkeys, dogs and many birds nestled between both counties. For enhanced protection we ask that a waiver be signed. Security cameras are on site. While respecting your privacy, we can be seen improving the property. The terrain is hilly and staying on paths limits poison oak exposure. Vega Vortex has been called a Park and Machu Picchu due to the amphitheater landscaping of terracing. Practicing permaculture, a diversity of pollinating plants/ flowers, organic garden and art features exist. Eight minute walk to the beach! Pet friendly! Welcome to southern Santa Cruz County, home of some of the longest and most beautiful beaches in central California. Enjoy the peaceful view of 300 acres of strawberry fields across the valley. We are located in La Selva Beach, an eight-minute walk to Manresa State Beach. We are a small, working farm with vegetable and flower gardens, chickens and bees. There are many excellent places nearby to hike, walk, surf, swim, tide pool, kayak or just sit and enjoy the view. Our two campsites include water and electric hookups, and are only appropriate for self-contained recreational vehicles and trailers (no tent camping). You will not have another camper next to you! There are no size constraint on RVs or trailers. We have plenty of room for a second vehicle. We do offer a port-a potty. Cell service is very good. The Valley View site can be expanded to two sites, both with water and power hookups. The second site (Valley View 2) can only be booked together with Valley View - please inquire if interested. This is helpful for guests who have separate rigs but want to be close to each other. Our property is a great base camp for your Santa Cruz and Monterey County adventures! We are 15 minutes from Capitola Village, 30 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz and 45 minutes to Monterey. We love to host guests and will provide information about things to do and see in our area. We often loan our State Parks pass so that you can venture out to Point Lobos, Wilder Ranch, Sunset Beach, Natural Bridges and more. Grey Oaks' Rustic Campsites, are a boutique camping experience with real old-timey style. We have 2 RV/tent campsites and currently 2 tent-only sites for hipcamp use. Grey Oaks is located on 20 acres of land, with multiple interesting and cool landscape features, hot water shower, and animals up by the house (1/4 mile from the campsites) that you can interact with during your stay here. We provide one hot water shower and there are 3 outhouse style toilets on the grounds. There is NO running water at the sites so we suggest you bring your own drinking water. There will be limited water provided for hand/dish washing. We are a pack it in/pack it out campground so please, be mindful of waste as we ask that you take it out with you. Eucalyptus, oak, and/or pine firewood is provided free for you during your stay with us. It really is a beautiful and wonderful property. There is wildlife, and it is private and peaceful. It is very dark at night and the view of the stars, moon, and planets is amazing. There is poison oak on the property so please be aware. We will show you what it looks like, so you can easily avoid it.

Tried finding this campground this weekend and it was not easy. The trail to the campground is CLOSED but we gave it a go anyway figuring we were skilled hikers and being that it was a short distance from the parking lot that it wouldn't be a problem. Wrong. The trail is overgrown with poison oak EVERYWHERE. We made it about half way through only to find a short tunnel of more poison oak to trudge through. No thanks. Turned around and camped on the beach instead. Explored a bit more the next day only to find a gate about 100m north of the park entrance where you can walk to the CLOSED campground. Place was deserted aside from a couple cars who must have had a key to the locked gate. Place was overgrown and looked spooky TBH. Don't do it!

A beautiful campground in a meadow, pretty open so not much privacy. You'll be carrying your stuff in from the parking lot maybe 1/4 mile and then it's another 10 minutes or so to the beach. All first come first serve! Last time I was there someone got a ticket for having their dog...

Hike in, nice spread out camp spots. Hike another mile to get to the purple sand beach, popular for surfers.

My friends and I loved this site! It is a huge open field so be prepared for the beaming sun unless you get lucky to snag one of the couple spots with a tree. The hike to the site and the beach is very easy ehich made this ideal for our weekend in big sur. There is TONS of wildlife at this site so use the lockers and a dry bag for any food or scents. We encountered bears, raccoons, squirrels, and deer during our stay in October. After our first night there we were not bothered so it seems the animals were just curious.

This is a beautiful, open place to camp. My partner and I camped on a weekday in December and there were only three other campers. If you are lucky, as we were, the sites around two incredible Sycamore trees will be open and you can camp underneath their massive canopies. A couple of warnings about the area: Poison oak is everywhere; up, down, all around. Stay in the center of the trails if you are allergic. Also, the trail to the beach from the campsite floods out when there has been rain. However, it's not much of a hassle to head back to the main parking lot and take that trail down; and it is a very enjoyable walk no matter which way you take.

Make sure to get there VERY early (around 7am) and walk into the campsite, and ask people who are awake if they plan on leaving or not. If so, tell them that you'll be taking their place, then go fill out a self-reservation form at the ranger's station

These sites are in a big open field, and while it makes for nice, flat camping, there is ZERO privacy. The only exceptions are sites 4, 20, and 22, which are nestled back into a large bushy tree. Max 4 ppl/site.

It was a lot of fun to camp here! We got a great spot with some nice shade. Squirrels were running around looking for food so be careful not to leave anything out! The hike to the beach was great and we saw a huge pod of whales!
