Past trip
in County Cactus Camp, ArizonaWe loved staying at here during Tucson to Oceanside trek and weâre thrilled learn our hosts were fellow Alaskans! Daymeâs directions were super easy to follow and we had no problems navigating the dirt roads and backing into their front driveway. The hosts greeted us, loved up our pups, made the water and power hookups easy and we enjoyed exchanging stories with these former full time RVers. The roosters and distant mariachi bands were no bother. We slept so well, we overslept! Would highly recommend this quiet spot off the beaten path as a wonderful departure from the uptight RV resorts nearby. Would definitely stay here again!
Past trip
in El Pais Motel & Campgrounds, ArizonaFriendly campers, unfriendly host
Rebecca L.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
It seems our arrival coincided with a bad day for the host Toni. From the moment we met, she was abrupt, frazzled and unwelcoming. It was unclear if this was due to the fact another RV camper arrived at the same time and came in the wrong entrance or something else. But it only got worse.
After setting up our site, we hadnât received the checkin paperwork she mentioned including the park WiFi info, so my partner went to retrieve this from her trying to make things easier. Her response was to be rude telling my partner her âemergency is not my emergencyâ and when a woman who appeared to be working there offered to help she snapped at her and very angrily said she wasnât to check us in. We had a 2 week reservation at El Pais but weâre so aghast at her behavior we attempted (unsuccessfully) to find another place to stay. While chatty with the other guests, she avoided us during our stay. Weâd hoped this was just an unfortunate fluke incident given the other rave reviews here, but a woman camping next to us left early as she felt unwelcome by Toni as well. This is so unfortunate given all of the lovely people we met there during our stay. We also had some scary incidents in the neighborhood with a loose dog that tried to attack our dogs while we were walking them and a crazy man screaming anti-women comments while on a walk in a different adjacent neighborhood.
Thumbs up to the kitschy location and wonderful fellow campers. Thumbs down to the rude host and sketchy area.
Past trip
in Little Ponderosa RV Camp, WyomingGreat location close to major highways but set back enough to be quiet and restorative for a great nightâs sleep. We used this as a base to explore Casper and Douglas. While we didnât get the pleasure of meeting Tanner and Lindsey during our stay, they were very communicative, provided detailed directions for arrival and checkin, and were very responsive to questions during our 3 night stay. The sites were level, hookups were in stellar condition and the water hookups are even winterized for those cold weather travelers. Definitely recommend this gem!
Past trip
in Thermop Stop, WyomingRyan and Elise were very welcoming and eager for feedback on how to improve their new HipCamp spot. All hookups were as described, gravel pad was level and access to the laundry room was appreciated! The views were spectacular and we enjoyed this great base for excursions to the Bighorn Mts and soaking in the bath houses in Thermopolis â highly recommend both! Be sure to take the backroad from this spot into the Hot Springs State Park for a scenic drive along the Bighorn River and check out the bison herd on your way into the park.
Past trip
in Field with Mountain Viewâs, MontanaWe stayed five wonderful nights on Kellyâs property which was a lovely break from âtraditionalâ campsites. Having this as our homebase we were able to explore Hungry Horse Reservoir, Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park. It was so great to be in the quiet countryside with horses, llamas and donkeys nearby. Both of us and our dogs slept so peacefully and even the thunderstorm and heavy rain one night didnât dampen our stay! Kelly was extremely helpful providing guidance for hookups and suggestions for the area and was an excellent communicator before and during our stay. Highly recommend and will definitely plan to stay here again when we are back in the area. Thank you Kelly!

Tucson, AZ Sonoran Desert RV spot
in Kokopelli Gardens, ArizonaRustic camping in the desert
Tim & Victoriaâs HipCamp location is definitely off the beaten path and provides lots of solitude and quiet. We loved the gorgeous sunsets, kind hospitality, long walks with the dogs and the yapping of coyotes at dusk. If youâre looking for a break from concrete RV resorts or super rustic boondocking, Kokopelli Gardens offers a rustic location with creative amenities like the upcycled washing machine tub turned firepit which we LOVED! Access to their location does require slow navigation of some rough dirt roads and narrow access ways for those with larger rigs but Tim was on hand to help guide our 31â fifth wheel into our full-hookup spot. Tim and Victoria were so hospitable including hosting a chili feed for all guests, addressing internet issues, making this laundry facilities available to guests and offering suggestions for the greater Tucson area. Some of the kindest people weâve encountered on the road!
#1 50amp Back-in FULL HOOKUP
in The Park at Swan Valley, IdahoBeautiful spot in swan valley!
Bryce just recently took possession of this campground and was one of the most welcoming and communicative hosts weâve had on our nearly 4 month RV travels. The location was easy to find, access roads were great and positioning into our spot was easy and straightforward. Site was very level, hookups were a breeze and the hose holders were a nice touch! We loved the quiet nights, feeding carrots to the horses in the adjacent pasture, waking up to snow covered peaks, taking in the fall colors of the valley and talking to some of the other guests. Great two night stay and appreciate Bryceâs quick replies and great suggestions. Highly recommend!
