Past trip
in Green Acres, MontanaGreat private site about 25 minutes from West side of Glacer National Park. The set up of the camp is very functional and well-thought out. The firewood was dry and the portapottie was clean. I would suggest a vehicle with slightly higher ground clearance. Our group of 7 had enough room to pitch our tents and two vehicles (minivan and midsize suv) fit just fine.
Past trip
in Rockin K Farms Spring Creek, OklahomaStarry skies & crystal clear waters
Clean, cold creek is great for swimming and casting for small fish. Spots for hammocks, tents, or small camper vehicles.
No pottable water so bring your own or filter water from the creek. Portapotty was clean.
Natural falls state park is about 20 minutes away.
Good spot to view/photograph the stars.

Past trip
in Walter's Woods, ArkansasPros: Walter was an easy going host with a property that had some neat paths, rock formations, and ponds to check out. It's within 30 minutes of two state parks with extensive trails, caves, waterfalls, and swimming. Good grocery store 5 minutes away in town.
Cons: Nearby highway bridge is loud at night.
A neighbors house is visible from one of the sites. Even so, that site still has more room and privacy than a lot of the spots at the nearby State parks and the neighbors are nice.
Past trip
in Sandy Ridge Camping, TexasSandy Ridge campsites offer plenty of space and privacy. The walking trails are immersive and the pond is a nice spot to do some reflecting (ha, get it?). I wouldn't recommend Sandy Ridge as a fishing hotspot, so if angling is your primary objective, look elsewhere.
Flush toilet in the outhouse works well and is clean. Cody and Ingrid are very easy-going hosts who were happy to answer any questions.
Past trip
Colonial Cowboy
in Broken Bow Ranch, TexasMaximilian Q.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
(Dispersed site)
Camped by the back stock pond. Nice and private. Fishing was excellent - plenty of sunfish, blue gills and small large mouth bass.
It's a working ranch, so expect a lot of cowpies around and some curious visitors in the morning. Would recommend a truck or SUV (preferably 4x4) to get back to the camping spots, especially if it has rained recently.
Downsides: Toilet in poolhouse didnt seem to be working (Bring a shovel!) You can hear I-30 and see the semis rolling by on the horizon, so this won't be your top choice if you're looking for deep seclusion.
Maximilian hasn't gone on any trips yet.

4R VIP Top-O'-the-Ridge Campsite
in 4R Ranch Winery Campsite, TexasNorth texas gem
We stayed in the second week of November. It was chilly at night, perfect during the day, and there was some fall color. There is no picnic table or sunshade at the site, just a fire ring- I think this is ideal as the spot isn't cluttered, but just know you'll need to bring some surface to work/eat on. We used thebtipnof our camp bin and a small backpacking table. Bike/hike trail is awesome! Sunrise/sunset is awesome! Wine and bathrooms walking distance from the site? Yes. Stars at night? Yes. 10/10 would come back.
The Dusty Nickel
in The Dusty Nickel, TexasOne camp, two parks
The Dusty Nickel Farm is a great spot to enjoy some classic Texas views and is a short drive from two state parks. Cleburne State Park is just around the corner, less than five minutes, and Dinosaur Valley State Park is half an hour away on twisting county roads. Excellent hiking at both parks. I recommend bringing a portable toilet to make packing out your waste easy. All wheel drive or 4x4 recommended if it has rained recently. Daniel was a responsive and helpful host. I definitely would recommend this spot if you want to see a bit of the hill country closer to DFW.
