Best river spot camping in austin!

We absolutely loved our stay at the sticks! Letâs get the cons out of the way: 1. There was no fire barrel or picnic table on the island, even though it was advertised and pictures that there would be. HOWEVER, there was a huge storm that flooded the island the weekend before so I think these items were washed away. 2. Thereâs no place for a hammock. Not really the hosts fault, but they could clear some of the brush or put up posts or something. The only reason I list this as a con, is because itâs literally the only other thing that couldâve made this site better.
Now for all the pros! The water access is perfect. We had three dogs with us and they loved having the shallow water to swim and fish and lay in. Renting the whole island meant we never had to worry about if they were bothering anyone else because we were the only ones on the island. The hosts were great! They accommodated us when we needed extra parking, and they let us know when they were making an H-E-B run (a 40+ minute drive round trip) and picked up the little things we forgot! We walked up river as far as we were could before we got tired, and then floated on tubes until we were a shot walk from our camp. We really enjoyed this, but looking back I wish I wouldâve just went ahead and paid for the float trip the hosts offered. Also, we all did breakfast boxes and were SO impressed but what all it included! Hot coffee with creamer even! Tacos, fresh fruit, and beans with salsa! We didnât like the corn tortillas very much, but we didnât ask for flour so I canât blame them for that. Over all, we had such a fun and relaxing trip. Waking up with the sun, and sitting in chairs with the water and dozing off as fishermen and kayakers occasionally came by, it was perfect! Again, if only I couldâve been napping in a hammock, I mightâve never left!! But on top of everything else that already made it so great, we ended up deciding to leave Saturday night instead of Sunday morning. We let the hosts know, only so that they could clean up the breakfast stuff, and they refunded us for Saturday night! Even though we left 8+ hours after what a check out time wouldâve been! They were so incredibly kind! Watch the video before you stay. Other commenters that were negative about the walk or the bridge, must not have watched the video or read the description well. Yes the walk was rough with the cooler, but besides that it was fine. And the bridge didnât bother us in the slightest. We were going to camp on an island so we had in water shoes and were expecting to get our feet wet. I donât know why anyone else would feel differently. But overall, we LOVED it! And will definitely be staying again!

Fantastic camping spot! We booked out both of the river spots so that we had more room and privacy. It was perfect! The walk up to the bath house wasnât bad at all. Facilities were nice and clean and cared for. We didnât use the WiFi. The sink and electric were very conveniently located. There was an issue with the outlets, but the hosts were super quick to respond and got us set up with alternate electricity sites in the meantime. Incredibly accommodating. Being next to the water was perfect! The dogs loved it. Plenty of flat spots for tents and parking. Beautiful site. Iâve camped quite a bit within about a 3 hour radius of Austin, and this has been the best! Loved it

Beautiful place to camp. Very private and secluded. We ended up not staying the whole time because there was a pack of coyotes that got very close to our site. It was upsetting my dogs and didn't feel safe. That is of course not the hosts fault. I loved the drive to the camp spot. It was a short little mudding trip every time we came or went. People in sedans or without 4WD would probably be uncomfortable, especially after rain. The site's compost toilet was clean and well cared for with easy to use instructions. There were also solar lights and a table and chairs and a fire pit with a good stack of wood too. I really loved the space but between the squirrels and armadillos and coyotes that we saw, I wouldn't suggest trying to camp with dogs here, unless they are not excited by animals.

Possibly our new favorite camping spot in the greeter Austin area. Great water access. Great fire pit set up and sail shade with a picnic table. Mostly fenced and very private. Weâll maintained and easy to find. We will definitely be back!
Aredondo Acres Riverside Camping
in Aredondo Acres, TexasLoved this spot. Feels pretty private, especially considering how close you are to other houses. We got coffee every morning, but besides that we didnât really interact with the hosts after checking in, which I liked. The water was a little high, but it was still nice to sit in and let the dogs play. Lots of kayakers going by. Access in and out of the water was a little rough. You basically have to crawl in and out, but it might not be as bad when it hasnât rained so much like it had recently. It was great having a bathroom to use in the camper. Also was very nice that they had piled up a lot of the brush/tree trimmings/logs for firewood for us. There are several chairs and table and stumps around so thereâs lots of seating there and work surface type spaces. It is a fenced off area, but the neighbor dog got into our side a couple times, and our dogs got into both bordering yards so I wouldâve have dogs here off leash if you donât trust them. It was a little annoying having to go through two sets of gates to get on or off the property, since we had people coming out visiting us both days. But itâs nice to feel safe. We would definitely camp here again.

Colorado River Camp

I cannot say enough good things about this site! I like in Austin just about 30 minutes south of the site, and was just looking for a place to decompress after a stressful week. Booked it kind of last minute after another camp site just a couple spots over from this one canceled
My reservation last minute without warning. I booked both sites on this listing just because I wanted as much privacy as possible. But actually the sites have a good amount of distance between them so even if you just get one itâs more private than a lot of places. The drive in can be intimidating but it feels like youâre no where close to a camp site, but I found it very easy to find just using the hosts instructions. Great large fire pit and a lean to type privacy stall for using the bathroom. It was exactly what I was looking for. Lots of room for parking and for several tents if you wanted. Good tree spots for hammocks. Beautiful river views, and easy access for kayaks. I will definitely be com in h back. Canât beat the value.
