Past trip
in Baby Banana Slug Farm, CaliforniaSo peaceful and beautiful! Ample supply of firewood and composting toilet does the job. Loved having a sink at the site and it was nice and flat for tent pitching. 30min to Mendocino/Fort Bragg area. If you don't mind the lack of a shower then this hits all the marks. 10/10 for us, we can't wait to come back again!
Past trip
in Lucky Penny Laytonville, CaliforniaAmazing Hipcamp! Loved how quiet our spot was and the wild animals that we spotted (a deer and a coyote or fox). Composting toilets were non smelly, showers were warm. Their kitchen area was well equipped but we had our own set up and didnāt use it much besides filling up on water. Hillary was very welcoming and we bought some of her chicken eggs (amazingggg). Thereās lots of fun spots to explore onsite too. Itās about an hour to Fort Bragg if you wanted to visit the coast, doable scenic drive through some winding roads. Also thereās a well stocked general store nearby. 10/10 would recommend.
Past trip
Quail Nest at Star Route
in Star Route, CaliforniaJeff was a great host, helped give a quick tour of the site when we arrived and refilled the propane tank for the tent heater a few days in (super helpful when lows were in the 30ās). Private bathroom was excellent, flushing toilet and hot showers, shampoo/conditioner, body wash etc. Outdoor sink was super handy and the propane grill allowed for some delicious steaks our first night. Picnic table was close to the tent and thereās a open air barn with a fridge and some sitting areas. There were some string lights which helped with night time visibility. Canvas tent was spacious and thereās an air bed available but we bring our own sleeping mat everywhere since we prefer a more stable sleeping surface. Had some rain our last night but inside of the tent was nice and dry. They have a super sweet dog named Ruby that we loved playing with. You are outdoors so if youāre a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs for the roosters etc. All in all a really nice camp site with lots of amenities. It is about a 45min drive to more popular Carmel/Monterey sites but we just treated it like a day trip. Would definitely recommend this to others!

Linda K.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
Awesome site, had everything you need for a comfortable camping trip (shower, flush toilet, potable water, camping tables). Great if you want to bring along camping newbies. My husband and I are foodies and the cafe in the front has delicious food! We were totally surprised given the remote location (got the fries, vanilla milkshake, and nachos all 10/10). Cafe also has friendly staff and a nicely curated supply area (even gluten free options, diapers, local honey, the whole gamut). Bring some bug spray for dusk and floaties for the creek. We spent hours there to stay cool on hot days. Iām sure we will be back one day. This is a kid friendly site too. Camping spots are decently far enough that the any noise from neighbors wasnāt enough to interfere with sleep. Lots of nice trees for shade and hammocks. Thereās cabins you can reserve too if you would like more shelter and amenities.
Past trip
in Sun Farm Hawaii @ Koko Head, HawaiiVery chill vibes and met lots of interesting people from around the world. The Hipcamp is surrounded by nature and we loved visits from their dogs/cat. Their farm is a work in progress and it was fun to see what was growing. Bed is comfy and Yurt keeps the elements out effectively (it can get windy). Outdoor shower was warm and a fun experience. Kitchen area had all the essentials and the fridge kept all our beverages nice and cold. Koko head is right around the corner. If youāre looking for an affordable place to stay thatās not a boring run of the mill overpriced hotel, this will fit the bill and more.
