Past trip
in The Still Point Farm, MichiganIt's exactly as advertised: a rustic site on the edge of a horse farm. The hosts are lovely. But the horses are rescue, so don't expect to ride or interact with them and there are no other typical farm animals. They let us charge devices in the barn and there is wifi near the house. Composting toilet is clean and was bug-free, which was much appreciated. But it's definitely more of just a rustic campsite than a farm stay. About 15 minutes into the nearest town (Interlochen) and about 30 into Traverse City or Frankfort.

2nd time staying here and looking forward to next time! Julie is always so welcoming and helpful. The property is lovely. And the animals really add to it - my kids didn't want to leave the property, they just wanted to stay and play with the animals. They decided this needs to be an annual tradition.
Past trip

Lovely people. Welcoming and friendly. Great location just outside Madison - feels rural but only minutes to the trappings of town. However, we did have a few issues that took away from the experience: We asked multiple times in advance for a site with a fire pit but those requests were apparently missed until we asked in person (and they did it the next day). Shower is not private - it's literally a showerhead connected to the week water in the open air - useful for rinsing off in your swimsuit on a hot day but not for taking an actual shower. Outhouse was swarming with mosquitoes. And on our last morning, we were awoken by one of the dogs barking at us right outside our tent door.

Julie was so lovely and helpful. The animals were fun but equally contained - we could visit them when we wanted but they weren't just wandering our campsite and we never heard them at night. The campsites are divided between two areas and while we could see other campers and interact if we wanted, we also had our space. So much better than a big commercial campsite. And breakfast was delicious!

Past trip
in Emerald Acres Farm, IllinoisGreat camping ne of st. louis
We stayed at the Prairegrass site, which is the most remote site. Would absolutely stay again. The site is beautiful and secluded - plenty of flat space for whatever size tent you have. The site is maybe about a 3-5 minute walk from the parking. Monica was so friendly and helpful - she offered to meet us with her ATV to drive our gear to the site (and back at the end) so we wouldn't need to carry it. There was power and a bathroom with flushing toilet and hot shower at the barn. The goats and llamas were very cool. And the best part might have been Stella to dog - she led us to the site on arrival and kept us company at our campfire each night (super friendly and loved snuggles but also easily kept her distance if you made it clear you didn't have any snuggles and then as soon as we went into our tent she would head back to the barn for the night). About 20 minutes to Edwardsville (cute town with plenty of restaurants) and about 45 minutes to St. Louis.

Impromptu Yoga Retreats
in Rolling prairie in oak forest, WisconsinLiza was so lovely and so is her property! We were at the Utopia site in the back and it was the perfect combination of secluded but still super convenient. The parking was maybe 50 yards down a path (maybe less) and the bathroom and running water were similar. But at the site you feel entirely secluded and in nature. Liza came out to welcome us and went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and had a great weekend. Next time we're looking to camp in the area, this will be our first choice!
Past trip
School Bus Livin' by Lake Superior!
in Dragonfly Dunes, MichiganThe bus is AMAZING! Clean and comfortable, definitely glamping not camping. It's amazing how roomy and comfortable a standard school bus can become. And the location is great - not far from Marquette for restaurants and events and groceries. And an easy walk across the street to Lake Superior for some truly spectacular sunsets and stargazing. They were just digging the field for the septic tank for a new bathhouse when we left which will make it even better - for both those glamping in the bus and any others camping on the property. We would happily stay there again (and likely will).

Cozy Tent East
in Goat House Farm, FloridaIt was exactly what we hoped. An eclectic mix of people and animals. The people were all lovely and quiet. The animals friendly and not quite as quiet! The common lounge with coffee and games even had an old-school Nintendo which made for a fun night in.
Past trip
in Camp Whispering Pines, IllinoisMultiple campsites on the property, but well spaced out. The host, Russ (a retired sheriff's deputy), was super friendly and helpful. He brought firewood out to our site and also ran a long extension cord and brought a flood light for us to use since we were setting up after dark (and then he made a point of staying out of our way for the rest of the trip, but we knew we could get a hold of him any time we needed). We picked a site in the front by the road which was large and convenient, but we did have occasional road & train noise - it didn't wake us, but if you are a light sleeper you might prefer a site in the back. It was a great location to be close to Starved Rock but also a quick trip back to Chicago in the morning. The property has some trails and ravines but we didn't get to explore - maybe next time!
Past trip
in John Z.âs Land, WisconsinMet or beat every expectation!
Glacier Ridge farm was fantastic. It was peaceful and well-kept and lived up to or surpassed all expectations from the posting. There were a couple of different camp sites to choose from. John is a friendly and helpful host - he even brought our kids into the chicken yard to meet the chickens and took us all on a tour of the old barn and bunkhouse. Each campsite has both a fire ring and a charcoal grill and sites are large and level. The port-a-potty was clean. And the outdoor shower is fantastic - a large stall behind the barn where you have both privacy and a great view out over the fields (plus hot water!). We'd happily stay there again!
Lewis hasn't gone on any trips yet.

Trouvaille Gardens
in Wildflower Wanderlust, WisconsinAMAZING! Even better than we hoped for. The property is lovely and so is Lisa. We were there at the same time as 1 other group and Lisa also had friends staying in her camper but there was still plenty of space and privacy. Easy access to water, electricity, and indoor bathroom. We were able to set the tent up out in the field, leaving plenty of distance from the fire so the kids could sleep and the adults could enjoy the stars by the fire. The animals were all charming and well-behaved - my kids were sad to say goodbye! And you couldn't find a better host than Lisa. She was responsive and available but gave us our space and she went over and above to make our stay comfortable. We'll definitely be back!
