Mike and Jen were very welcoming upon check-in. The sites are arranged around a neat grass field, making for excellent stargazing! There's plenty of space between sites, but they are not physically separated by trees or bushes. The campground is located conveniently close to several trailheads.
Past trip
in Seco Ridge Campgrounds, TexasSeco Ridge is one of the coolest campgrounds I've ever been to. The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, and the whole lot was decorated to make it cute and homey. I stayed at site 6, which has a restored horse trailer with hammocks inside! The wifi sometimes reaches site 6 but I had decent cell reception either way. Nice views of the hills too.
I bought firewood from the host through Hipcamp and he gave me probably 8-9 pieces of super dry wood that could easily be made into kindling. This is a great deal if you want a campfire and don't bring your own wood.
Seco Ridge is only a 25 minute drive from Lost Maples, is and very close to downtown Utopia, which is very convenient.
If I'm ever back in the area, I'd 100% stay there again.

Past trip
Vista
in Rancho Ciela Plata, TexasThe campground is exactly as described. I stayed there en route to Enchanted Rock.
I camped at site 2 (Vista) and it was a very large, private space close to a beautiful oak tree. It's easy to miss if you're coming in at night so you have to be attentive. I had decent cell reception there, which was a big positive for me.
You can only see a handful of artificial lights from there (although there's still some light pollution from Austin/San Antonio), so this place would be ideal to watch a meteor shower or something like that.
Additionally, a curious little roadrunner came right up to my car in the morning! Overall, a beautiful place.

Past trip
in Legends camp, New MexicoBeautiful place and reasonably priced! This campground is close to town, but is also in the desert wilderness. There's a huge amount of space for only two campsites, including a large grassy area. We were the only ones there and it felt extremely private and secure.
Water from spigots was potable and tasted okay. There's one fire ring at the campground, and Jose already had lots of firewood, a charcoal grill and utensils, charcoal, and some lighters for our use. Flushing toilet and shower work okay. The driveway is well-lit at night and is safe for smaller cars to drive on.
It's about a 30 minute drive from the campground to the Dripping Springs trailheads in Organ Mountains National Monument. There's also a steep hill nearby and a dirt road behind the property where people drive ATVs, but we didn't get to explore those.
Allan hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
