This was the perfect spot for spring break! I rented out three of the camp sites for my friends and I, it was such a blast! Right next to the river perfect for swimming, fishing, and relaxing! We had a blast, definitely coming back !!

A cool little spot with river access. The park hosts were prompt in answering questions and hospitable in offering every amenity they had available. It's not far from Garner SP or Lost Maples SP. I would recommend to download a map before heading that way, reception is a bit spotty for phone service. I'd also recommend to take a grate or skewers if planning to cook over the fire rings. All and all, a quiet and peaceful experience. I would definitely stay there again.

We couldn’t have been more satisfied with the whole stay! The host, Curtis was super cool and made us feel very welcomed! Definitely a hidden gem and WE WILL BE BACK!!!!

This place was truly amazing. The water was clear, temperatures were perfect, and the host was the nicest person! For our first camping trip with two littles under 6 and this place couldn’t have been more perfect for them as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice relaxing camping trip.

My fiancé and I absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed at Campsite 1 and we had beautiful views of the river. The river access was really a plus; our two dogs enjoyed the water. Overall the site was clean and peaceful. The hosts were also welcoming. we highly recommended and would definitely come again!

I came here with my daughter and was in awe of the absolute beauty and serenity of the space. Beautiful trees and bamboo and of course the crystal clear Rio Frio. We spent most of our days paddle boarding, floating, and exploring in the river. At night we stargazed. We were very lucky to be the only people there. Only downside is no cell service. Port o potties could have used a sanitizing station outside but I am not a fan of port o potties in general! The owner was very courteous and easy to talk to. Can’t wait to go back!

It is a beautiful location and would stay again. I camped with a tent at campsite 1. Plenty of space between spots even though they are right next to one another. Bathrooms, 110 power and water a plus! No cell service but that was ok with me! If you need service you can pick up a tower about 10-15 away. Just make sure you download maps before hand. The stars, the stars are incredible with no moon! Town of Leakey about 15-20 away and has cold beer, ice and some small local restaurants.

My family of 6 was there for the eclipse. My kids loved playing in the Frio River which was just feet from the camping area, down a rough staircase. Even in April we found it warm and fun.
Hill Country is a beautiful region. The trees are thick and lush, the birds vibrant and active, and fireflies came out after sunset. My only regret is not living closer, because I'd come back every year.
I could see the place being a little cramped if full, but we felt like there was plenty of space with 4 other camping parties on the property. Internet was totally absent, so hopefully you like being unplugged or have starlink. Service in Leakey was good for us on tmo. There was water and power at our rv site, but I didn't know if the water was potable. I need to double check that.
The hosts were friendly and welcoming. My family isn't from the area, we had good conversations about regional differences in culture and language.
Leakey is a tourist town with good spots for food and to resupply. Dora's had interesting and artistic Hispanic yard decor at prices unseen in the Pacific Northwest. The Bent Rim Grill had good diner food at decent prices. Lots of bikers on Harleys had gathered there like it was a popular hangout spot, which I don't mind at all - but we're not accustomed to people smoking cigarettes next to a family with children. Can't say if that's a normal thing, but happened to us.
In short, highly recommended! We'd totally visit again.

We stayed here in March. No one else at the site. Woke up to tons of birds overhead, a babbling creek, and butterflies every where. Prettt idyllic. Also, Curtis and Morgan were great.

Its a nice place but very small. The RV spots are very small and the pics do not truly show how cramped everything is including the camping spaces which are intertwined. If you are camped in campsite #3 everyone on property will be traversing through your camp to get to the only stairs down the steep bank to the river. Absolutely visit first before making a reservation just so you understand the situation. Campsite #5 is a joke. It has the only two porto-cans on one side and the road is on the other.

Morgan has put together a great little campground. We stayed here while hiking in Lost Maples, having access to the Frio river was a great bonus!

Limited tent sites which we loved because it wasn't over crowded, electricity at the site so we were able to keep our phone's charged, fresh water spout with a hose, pitch black at night without moonlight, river front access, listened to the river all night, nestled deep in the valley of frio canyon, beautiful mountainous view all around, only 15 minutes from town, great host, Curtis is exceptional, uniquely genuine dude, truly a slice of paradise. Internet and cellular function drops off once you get in the canyon, so be prepared to be off grid. Highly recommended.

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed up here. As usually the scenery is beautiful and the camp site was perfect. We had everything we needed, and felt very welcomed when we got there. The whole experience was exactly what we were looking for!

Nice spot on the frio, owners great with communication, have tables/fire pits, and the 2 port-o-potties are older, but very clean stocked w/ TP. Unfortunately, site is about a 200’ width with 4 tent spaces and 2 RV areas squeezed in. Too tight. The 2 RV campers arrived with 7 vehicles, and set up about 25’ from us and there was another tent site between us that they were expecting to fill that day. Once they plugged in the RV and we heard the constant high pitch noise from the AC, we decided to pack up and head back the 3 hours we just came. Not for us.

Very nice space, lovely river access. It wasn’t busy when we were there, but the campsites are very close together so if it had been full it would not have been very private.

Very nice and clean place!
I would definitely stay there again, 30 min to garner state park. Just be ready and download the map, there’s no phone service at all.
Only thing that I’ll check next time: about who’s camping there. Unfortunately we had “neighbors” camping by our side with 8 kids and that was very loud until late night.

Such an absolutely wonderful spot! We enjoyed our stay here very much. We stayed in spot #3 and it was IT! Loved the quirky things we spotted around the property and also being so close to river. It was very peaceful being able to hear the water at night and in the mornings. It’s a perfect location if you’re going to Garner and/or Lost Maples. Morgan and Curtis are very kind, helpful, and Morgan is great with communication! Being offered firewood and having the bathrooms were added plus! We look forward to coming back in the summer for swimming as we would most certainly book here again :)

Frio River Campsite
We had an absolute blast. We camped next to the river and was able to view all the beautiful fall scenery happening. Each site is provided a grill and a fire ring. Definitely be ready for no service and have all your maps downloaded for offline use. Town is also only about 15 mins away so you’re able to quickly grab firewood and any essentials you may have forgotten. Also, be aware that there is a road that runs slightly below the river on the way in. Our friend was able to drive through just fine but I am assuming that you may want to drive in with a higher car during the spring or whenever the rainy season is. Lost Maples annd Garner State are only anbout 30ish mins out as well. We’ll definitely be back!

Site was nicely kept and the river access was great. Only gripe is they gave our reserved spot away and we had to camp by the toilets. There is no cell service so addressing the issue was out of anyone hands. I would call and get a verbal confirmation if you want a specific site. Campers said its a first come first serve so although management says different.
