Paisano Azul Ranch is on 30 acres located by Terlingua Creek. The property is just minutes from the Terlingua Ghost Town and a short 3 mile drive to the Big Bend National park. Come pitch your tent or park your camper amid the peaceful desert hillside with views of plateaus that lead to the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. There is a fire pit on site for you to toast marshmallows or cozy up near, and you can enjoy a bite to eat at the picnic table provided at each site. The picnic tables are placed beneath shade sails. There are two nice and new desert tan flushing Porta-Potties on-site, as well as showers for guests to use. These come in handy after a long day hiking. We hope you'll enjoy the beautiful open sky sunsets, sunrises, and stargazing as much as we do. We are located just 3 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park. There are plenty of opportunities to get out and explore - you can hike, bike, canoe camp; kayak, off-road, swim, go horseback riding, visit hot springs, as well as visit restaurants, galleries, and listen to great music in Terlingua. There is something for everyone to feel free to bring the whole family. DIRECTIONS: Once you are on Road Runner Circle, go past the house on the left with the Christmas lights on. Please continue down the road and follow the road around the curve to the left. The campsites will be on the left and side behind the rock walls. The campsite number that is booked is the campsite you will stay in. Additional details to note: - We now have an above ground pool to keep cool in during the summer! Covered with a shade sail the water stays nice and chilly. ($10 fee/person) - You can stay connected if you'd like to, as cell reception and wifi are both available by the showers. Feel free to unplug during your stay though. - Seeing other campers on your trip at the campsite is very standard, as the sites are far enough apart to feel like they are yours, but they are not private. - Potable water is provided on-site. We have an artisan well on property that has been certified as drinkable. The showers and potable water is located approximately 1/4 mile from campsites 1-7. Welcome to El Groupo, the Group Campsite at Paisano Azul Ranch! This secluded spot is perfect for a large group getaway. It is located near Big Bend National/State Park. In fact, the national park entrance is a mere 3 miles from your campsite! The group site is situated in the desert overlooking the incredible Chiso's Mountains. Come pitch your tent or park your camper amid the peaceful desert hillside with views of plateaus that lead to the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. There is an incredible art rock fire pit on site for you toast marshmallows or cozy up near, and you can enjoy a bite to eat at the picnic tables provided at this large and private group tent site. There are two dedicated picnic tables which are placed beneath shade sails. The El Groupo campsite can easily accommodate 8-14 campers, with 8 tent sites available. There is a nice and new desert tan flushing Porta Potty on site, dedicated to the El Groupo as well as showers for our guests to use. They come in handy after a long day hiking! We loved our spot! Jason was very accommodating and responsive to anything we needed. I know phone service is a challenge out there so that may be the reason for negative reviews on returning messages. But we had a great time! The property was clean and the pool was an awesome addition. Our kids loved the goats too! I will be coming back for sure!

Pretty decent campsite in Terlingua. I had thought there was running water; however, the toilets are porta potties (clean FWIT). Showers are by the entrance and a drive away from most of the campsites. For the price I would look for something with better facilities.

Very nice site with clean, flushing porta-pots close by, a table,,and a canopy above the tent site with a wind break. The shower setup was outdoors but had hot water and soap dispensers mounted on the wall so very convenient. The property was clean and not far from stores, restaurants, and gas.

Another party hijacked my site which put me next to a group of people that talked loudly until midnight. Also it was not clear to me that the showers and wifi were 1/4 mile away until after the booking and I was not allowed to cancel the 2nd night.

Amazing place to stay 3 mins away from the entrance to the national park, staff super friendly and knowledgeable. The restrooms were clean and the showers are amazing with a view of mountains. I don’t think i would stay anywhere else when i come to visit the park

I really enjoyed camping here. It is a great location and was very clean. I appreciated the shade structures. It was calm and quiet, especially at night. The only thing I hated was that there was an awful smell one of the nights we stayed here. Maybe it was the porta-potty? The wind blew it into my campsite, and it was really gross. Justin was very friendly and I enjoyed chatting with him when he stopped by our site to say hello. Would definitely stay here again!

The amenities and location were convenient, but the sites were really close together. They were also a bit too close for comfort to the porta-potties that smelled like they hadn’t been serviced in a while. We went on a windy week and the smell was so uncomfortable we had to leave; we reached out to the host to see if there was availability at a site further away from the porta-potties but didn’t get a response for over a day so we ended up having to book with another host to get away from the smell. Nice place but all in all the pictures were a bit misleading and it wasn’t a good fit for us.

Pretty bad spot!

Showers have ZERO privacy from the nipples up. Porta potties smelled like absolute death, and I could smell them from my picnic table and tent area. I booked three nights and did not come back after the first night. Also there are dogs in the area that bark like crazy every 20 minutes all night.

Great spot for camping. Water and showers make it easier. Make sure you ancor your tent well, it can get windy

Site 10- Close to Office

We had a great time camping at Paisano Azul. The welcome committee animals, the pool after long hot hikes, the showers all very nice. Highly recommend, especially for families that like camping. Just have a propane stove in case of burn ban. Easy to get to Big Bend and Terlingua.

Offered everything we needed!

Site 6 - Good Views

The campsite had everything we needed: picnic table, flat area for our tent, potable water, showers, and clean porta potties. Easy to find the campsite and only a 5 minute drive to the nearby grocery store. The site does have two neighboring campsites, but there is about 100 feet between campsites. We had friendly neighbors.

Site 8- Off by it self

My son and I had a great time at #8. It was perfect for what we needed. A simple shade and a picnic table; a grill and a fire pit. Also the wall was an excellent windbreaker as the site is exposed to the elements otherwise. If your looking for amenities or glamping, Site 8 is not for you, but if you are self-sufficient and like to rough it, this is your spot. Very quiet at night.

RV Site A Go-Go

I was in an EV, tent camping on an RV site, so my situation was unique. That said, the arrival and orientation process was non-existent. I ended up sleeping in my car one night because the owner told me I might have to move to accommodate someone else, but then never came back to let me know.

"El Groupo"

Oh my gosh. This was easily my favorite campsite I've ever stayed at. El Groupo was perfect, and Jason and his animals were so pleasant and hospitable. I can't recommend this place enough. Thanks for everything, Jason!! WE WILL BE BACK!

Site 4 - Creek Views

If you’re out of luck trying to camp in Big Bend, Jason’s place is an excellent alternative. It’s abundantly clear how much care is put into cleaning the site, from the Porta-Potties (excellent experience) to the showers. Still a long drive to some of the major attractions like the springs, but you’re also closer to the town!

Site 10- Close to Office

The pictures and description were a bit over zealous compared to the actual experience. The site was a little junky. I do understand that the wind was horrid and maybe not typical, but for someone not from west Texas this campground left a lot to be desired and certainly doesn't inspire a return visit. The responses from the owner were not prompt (if one was received at all). I would not visit again.

An Ideal Location for Big Bend

Site 6 - Good Views

The location was great for visiting Big Bend National Park. Make sure to follow the directions provided for the location. The site (#6) was basic but had a picnic table with a wind sail type cover. There were several porta-johns, including one right next to the site, which I didn’t mind. It’s a bit dusty and the sites are close, but I’d stay here again based on its proximity.

Best camping in Terlingua

Site 8- Off by it self

Jason and team have created the best and most convenient camping outside of the park. Convenient to Terlingua, Lajitas and most of all Big Bend. The camp sites have been updated with windbreaks and grills, the showers always have hot water. The sunsets and the stars are the best in the area.

Site 5 - Creek Views

We were very excited to stay at this place, but after much consideration we left for another hipcamp site. The photos were misleading and the sites are so close together. We thought we were gunna have a relatively private area after seeing photos, but we were super close to other campers. Sites 1-7 are right next to each other. Not to mention, we were in between 2 porta potties. One on each side.. whichever way the wind blew we could smell it and that was our last straw to reach out to the host or get another place. We did reach out to the host and did not get a response about our site for 2 days (we had already left) . Overall, not the best choice out there. The picnic tables, shade and shower/ toilets are nice, but lots of other things to consider.

"El Groupo"

We had a great week tent camping on Jason’s land. Our site, “El Grupo” provided a quiet, private and peaceful base camp for us to explore from. Jason was incredibly communicative and addressed our every request and need promptly. We’d definitely stay again.
