Granbury Wine Walk and Winter Wine Walk in the Historic Granbury Square. Walking through the park and the square is just magical at Christmastime. Easy Like a Sunday Morning is nestled just outside the city limits of Granbury, Texas (approximately 3 miles from Granbury Historic square) @ a private residence just outside the city limits. New laundry facility down the road, dump station @ Thorp Springs RV park (20 dollars), Davids Grocery store and Dollar General, all only .03 miles away. This is not really a vacation destination but more a safe place to stay coming to town to explore all Granbury has to offer or a place to catch your breathe while traveling on the road.
Friends have enjoyed escaping here for years. I decided to share the zen. It's a bit rough around the edges but if the new venture succeeds it will only get better each time you visit. Patio with a view of Lake Granbury and surrounding valley of at least 3 counties.

Come stay on our 100 acre Richard Creek Valley getaway, gently tucked away on the north slope. There are four campsites on the property and they are all at least 150 yards away from each other. Each site is private. When the ground is dry there is access for all vehicles. When the ground is muddy, Brookside, RiverRock, and Richardson Creek campsites require a 4-wheel drive and have alternate routes to get to them. Ancient Oaks is an all-weather site. You can enjoy hiking and swimming in Richardson Creek when water levels permit. Canoeing from Bakers Crossing put-in which is only 3 miles away.

Property is on the farm where I grew up about 9 miles northeast of Glen Rose off of Highway 67. It has various trees on property with cedar, live oak, post oak, etc. Campsites are in front of a wide waterfall which is about 5 feet in height. You can fall asleep with the sound of the waterfalls! We have three ground tent sites and two 14 by 14 deck sites if you want to be up off the ground. Each site has a fire ring and electricity.
There are well-marked trails across the creek which go to a meadow and a big treehouse I built several years ago. Glen Rose has several restaurants known for barbecue and Mexican food. Granbury is 25 minutes away with lots of shopping and restaurants around their historic town square. Glen Rose also has a town square.

Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself.
Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters.
We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River.
In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views.
Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent.
Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river.
Site 2: Firepit seating area overlooking limestone riverbed with 3 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with a shade umbrella, 10' x 10' raised tent / deck platform, stairs down to riverbed and shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
Site 3: Firepit seating area overlooking the riverbed, 2 wooden Adirondack chairs, 2 picnic tables, 1 shade umbrella, 2 sets of rock stairs to the riverbed, shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
Site 4 Farthest site downstream. Nice rock patio overlooking the river with two wooden rocking chairs. Easy access for RVs and trailers. Rock stairs to the river for easy access. Fire pit with rock patio around it with 4 wooden Adirondack chairs. Picnic table with shade umbrella. Kids sand box. Shallow areas for kids to play in the river. Deeper fishing hole about 100 feet down river. Great area to sit in the river with a lawn chair. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
A lot of people buy two sites for more privacy and room for larger groups. For example, many purchase Big Pecan and site 1 together. Or sites 2 and 3.

Tips:
Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children.
Bring the essentials for any camping trip including: sunscreen, bug spray, anti-itch meds, etc. Chairs and sunshades to sit in the river are always popular.
The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream.
Water is available at the entrance.
No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable.
Dogs are allowed on leash. Please do not allow your dog to roam freely if they are aggressive in nature. Clean up after them.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 3 days before your stay for a full refund. Weekends during peak seasons (March - June & September - November) are non-refundable unless canceled and another camper reserves the site. I do offer partial refunds for extreme weather conditions.

Couldn’t have asked for a better camp site to go have an amazing weekend with the boys! Mine are 7 and 4 and had an absolute blast. The site is super clean! There were 2 bundles of wood next to the fire pit (which by the way is amazing) the hammock was up and the plot for the tent was clean and ready for us!

I had a great time at the little off lake house with my dog. There was plenty of room for him to run and explore off leash. The lake and the boat were amazing too. Lots of privacy, but the host checked in on me to make sure I had everything I needed! The house itself did indeed have everything you could want. Thanks Kellie and Lindell for a great weekend and I hope to come back soon!

We had a great time here! The river access was perfect, it was a little cold to go in the water. We enjoyed a nice fire, snacks and this was so close to town too! We did the Mammoth March at the state park nearby and really enjoyed the whole trip. We will be back when its warmer to really enjoy all the amenities :D

Although our stay was cut short due to not being prepared for the night cold, we had an amazing time. Our pups especially loved this location due to the ability to roam and explore without many distractions. We plan to come back once it’s a little bit warmer and taking full advantage of this beautiful site!

Weekend Trip to Pecans on the Paluxy - River Views
Great little camping spot. Worked well for boondocking with my 26’ RV. Has some really nice touches with the fire pits, seating around the fire, stone walkways down to the river. Very beautiful spot to camp.

We had a wonderful stay at Pecans on the Paluxy campsite. It was very easy to find, and the location made getting into Glen Rose quick and convenient.
The campsite is well developed and thoughtfully laid out, with stairs and a clear pathway leading down to the river — which made access simple and safe. Each site had comfortable chairs, a table, and a fire pit, making it easy to relax and enjoy the evenings outdoors.
It felt peaceful, organized, and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again!

Great quick getaway! All the animals were so cute, Ms Amy was very welcoming. She helped us navigate to the proper entrance and led us to our campsite. We added on wood for our stay and she brought it over to us quickly. The bathrooms were a short walk from our site. We would definitely visit again.

The campsite was a beautiful campsite, and awesome location. I would say if you were bringing a Fifth Wheel the trees could be trimmed back along with a few of the smaller trees turning into site 3 could be cut cut back & down. Other than the tree limbs hanging over & in the way location was great and would most definitely return. Amenities were fantastic and plenty of space once you were in the site.

The place is great, camp site is clean and huge. View of the river is good, you can watch your kids swim and kayak from the fire pit. Place is just 6 minutes from the grocery store. Tent camping is not advisable coz there is no toilet and no shower. Water is available at the main entrance of the property. It would have been nice if water is on every camp site so we don't have to drive back and forth to get water.

We had a wonderful stay at Friends in RV Spaces, definitelyexcellent value for money. Even though we were travelling in a campervan without hookups, the site had everything we needed. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the WiFi near the little red building was fast and reliable. After spending time in the big cities of Texas, it was such a refreshing change to relax in a peaceful, green space with dark night skies and true country quiet.
Sam greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming. He showed us around the farm and was interesting to chat with. If you’re looking for a safe, quiet, and friendly place to stay near Fort Worth, we’d highly recommend it.

This camp spot is perfect! Well taken care of and everything where I needed it. It is a little difficult to find and there is limited service while driving so make sure you map it out first. The site was well kept and like other reviewed stated the road is right there but it's not horribly bad. The place is very beautiful and although we did not go the river. It looks awesome! The host was very responsive. I would recommend the site and would return!

It was easy to find the location & your own numbered campsite. Each area has a clear flat space for your tent, a fire ring, and constant 12v power socket + two 2.1amp USB ports, and temporary 110ac if you enable it.
There is a shared washroom with 2 stalls. One has a urinal, toilet, and shower. The has just a toilet. Outside the stalls is a sink.
All the campsites are close to each other, so I imagine it would be great for large groups with their own tents. It was a quiet weekday, so I pretty much had the entire area to myself, but mostly kept to my own area.
The area is a covered forest (mostly cedar, some oak) and is beautiful. You can hear the close waterfall and the distant highway. When it gets dark, there are no lights around, so plan to bring some if you want to see after sunset. You can see the stars very well if you walk towards the water.
There is a hiking trail across the water. There are maps in the washroom building. There was a yellow rope to mark the trailhead. Watch your step. The meadow, trail, and treehouse are all quite lovely.

About
Hidden in the heart of Texan cattle country, Lake Mineral Wells State Park is a natural playground for outdoor activities, both on land and water. Cut your teeth at the natural rock climbing area, where the top-rope climbs and rappels are suitable for all levels. Next, discover the 20-mile trailway that leads through the hills to Weatherford—you can hike, bike, or even horseback ride, stopping to picnic along the way. Still have energy to spare? Head to the lake to swim, paddle, or fish, and look out for white-tailed deer or waterfowl along the nature trails.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for horseback Hipcampers: Cross Timbers Camping Area has 20 tent sites suitable for hikers and equestrians, plus direct access to the Cross Timbers Back Country Trail.
- Best for backcountry camping: The primitive camping area has undefined, hike-in campsites with no facilities, so bring everything you need.
- Best for RVs: Live Oak Camping Area has 50-amp hookups and plenty of amenities, as well as some wheelchair-accessible campsites.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve campsites and screened shelters at the park’s four campgrounds via the Texas State Parks website.
- Campsite reservations open five months in advance.
- Primitive campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must arrive two hours before dusk to be accepted.
- Campsites can book up fast, especially for summer and holiday weekends—book as early as possible, especially if you have a large RV or a particular site in mind.
When to go
Lake Mineral Wells State Park is open year-round, but the trails and rock climbing areas may be closed in periods of wet weather. Peak season runs from mid-March through mid-November, and weekends can be busy during this period. While summer is the best season for swimming and water sports, springtime is the most colorful time to hike, when the trails bloom with wildflowers like coreopsis and bluebonnet.
Know before you go
- Lake Mineral Wells State Park is located 48 miles west of Fort Worth, or about a 50-minute drive away.
- Park entrance fees are required in addition to camping fees, and general entrance reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
- Facilities in the park include restrooms, picnic areas and pavilions, fishing piers, a dump station, playgrounds, a boat ramp, a bird blind, and a designated swimming area. You can purchase groceries and camping supplies in Mineral Wells, a 10-minute driveaway.
- You can bring your own boat to the lake, or rent a flat-bottom boat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or rowboat. Water-skiing, tubing, and jet skis are not permitted on the lake.
- There are wheelchair-accessible restrooms, campsites, and fishing piers in the park. Parts of the trailway are also accessible.

It's 2-2 1/2 miles either route to get to the primitive campsites, but the remoteness makes it worth it

The campsites here are larger since this in a equestrian site and great for larger families. The trail head for the primitive sites is also located here. So if you want to do day hikes or lounge in camp, this is a great place to stay. The cons to this site are, sometime the horses can be a little noise at night, and you will have to dive to the south end of the lake to fish or enjoy the water. Overall this is the area I prefer to camp when I come to this park.
