DeerCreek Campground

It was easy to find the location & your own numbered campsite. Each area has a clear flat space for your tent, a fire ring, and constant 12v power socket + two 2.1amp USB ports, and temporary 110ac if you enable it. There is a shared washroom with 2 stalls. One has a urinal, toilet, and shower. The has just a toilet. Outside the stalls is a sink. All the campsites are close to each other, so I imagine it would be great for large groups with their own tents. It was a quiet weekday, so I pretty much had the entire area to myself, but mostly kept to my own area. The area is a covered forest (mostly cedar, some oak) and is beautiful. You can hear the close waterfall and the distant highway. When it gets dark, there are no lights around, so plan to bring some if you want to see after sunset. You can see the stars very well if you walk towards the water. There is a hiking trail across the water. There are maps in the washroom building. There was a yellow rope to mark the trailhead. Watch your step. The meadow, trail, and treehouse are all quite lovely.

An Absolute Texas Treasure!

Wow! This place is spectacular! The waterfall is the eye catcher…but the entire set up is a whole new level of camping! Every site had power, trash cans, and the facilities were very well built! The wagon to bring your stuff from parking lot to site was a very nice touch! It was my son’s first camping trip, and this has set a very high bar! We will be back to explore the creek and enjoy the waterfall’s magic sounds!

Incredible lil camping spot. The nearby water was beautiful and the treehouse at the end of the trail was something else! Definitely would love to use this campground again for future trips. Be aware that the campsites are situated near to each other - we got lucky and were the only ones there the night of our experience.

I loved camping at Deer Creek! The waterfall was really neat & the camping sites are remote. Communication was excellent as well! We checked in after 9 & John was still available to answer questions. We look forward to visiting again in the spring.

Overall the site was clean and quiet, but if there would've been others camping there it would've been crowded with the tent sites so close to each other. Also, there's no phone signal in that area, so better load your map before going.

This was a wonderful experience. So peaceful and relaxing. The campsite was well kept, fish were biting, and we had everything we needed ! John was an awesome host and kept us well informed of everything we needed to do and know. My husband and I would come back for sure !

Late August Solo Camp at Deercreek

The campground was excellent - with trees abound and the waterfall so near, the natural ambience goes a long way to make you feel isolated from the hustle of the outside world. All the campsites look appropriate for campers of all experience levels, but I was really happy to have gone with site six. The stone's throw bathroom was a welcome surprise, and the amenities were just fancy enough to help you feel fresh without detracting from the overall outdoor experience. Lastly, the trails were lovely. A decent amount to explore with some lovely views. Host was friendly and accommodating, can't wait to come back when the opportunity presents itself.

This is my second visit to John's campsite. I simply love the peacefulness of this site - lots of shade and a beautiful, calming waterfall. I love sleeping with that sound! The bathhouse is well-maintained! Clean, functional, and nature-friendly. I would camp here again and again!

I initially booked deck #1 but upon arrival I found deck #5 to have the best view of all sites so I reached out to John and asked if we could switch. Since we were the only party to book that day, he let us switch to deck #5. This campsite is truly stunning! The deck was solid and well built. The waterfall was an amazing feature, my kids (19 mos & 5 yrs) loved to play in it. The view from deck #5 is absolutely amazing! Seriously I wondered why this place isn’t fully booked already. Loved the trail that leads to a treehouse. It was easy and short (about 20 mins one way), perfect for family with kids. John was responsive during our entire stay. However, there are a few cons. The sites are quite close together, properly about 15-20ft apart. I imagine if it was fully booked, it’d be a little crowded. Electricity is very limited, it runs off of batteries so runs out quick. Water also doesn’t seem very clean, it has a dark color to it, it’s properly rain water. We used a lot of wet wipes to clean ourselves instead of using the water. Overall, extremely beautiful and clean campsites. It rivals some of the best state park campsites we have been to that’s always fully booked months ahead. We would love to be back with friends! Easy 9 out of 10.

We loved our weekend stay at this site! The elevated platform was nice for our tent to keep off of the dirt. Waterfall was the best white noise for sleeping. Bathroom did the job and didn’t smell bad. Electricity worked well. Treehouse was amazing! Another camper found an arrowhead, likely from the Squaw. Only drawback was the road to get to the site because it had rained and was muddy but my 2 wheel pickup had no issue. If a car can’t use the road, you will just have to hoof it. Overall great campsite.

Great place to relax, the views are incredible. It’s a huge plus to have access to a shower and electricity. We went hiking and explored the property. We even got to go fishing. 100% recommended!
