Croaky Oak Clearing of Good Knights Reserve is located in Ohio and a 25-30 minute drive to Dublin. You'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site offered. Madden Farm has been in the Madden family and its descendants for seven generations. The original farmhouse on Madden Farm dates back to the 1860s. In 1980, a second dwelling was added to the property when a cabin on a nearby farm was moved across the fields and placed near Madden Pond. In recent years, the family has endeavored to be good stewards of the land by planting trees, growing fruits and vegetables while incorporating sustainable practices. Next door to this property is a BP Station and Carryout. The Loves Truckstop has a Wendys, Subway, and dog park. Sheets also has a food court. All within walking distance. Great location as Columbus is 30 min to the east, Dayton is 25 min to the west. 13 min to I 675 and 20 min to Interstate 75 N/S. I 71 N/S Columbus is 35 min away in downtown Columbus... NOTE: Little over a quarter of a mile off of Interstate 70, and on a State Route, If looking for absolute silence and desolation, this is not for you. Back off of the road but all the sounds carry.....

Owners were great- he met us with his golf cart and made setting up our camp site super easy. The site itself was secluded and primative- exactly what we were looking for. Shower/bathroom was clean and very handy. Also, this site is close to the lake which was ideal for fishing. The pond on-site was also great to fish in. Had more success there than at the lake! Would recommend! Only thing to note- we brought our hammock and at this particular site we had to set it up on the entrance path as there wasn't a ton of great trees to use at this particular campsite at Fairhaven.

Sweet Glum Glade is a great, secluded spot in the woods, but also close enough to a bathroom and hand washing sink - which is ideal when your kids get covered in s’mores! We watched the sunset over the field across from our camp and slept outside underneath the stars. Highly recommended!

First time camper here and this was the perfect spot! We were the only people there so it worked out nicely in our favor and was a quiet, relaxing trip. We wanted to choose a spot that wasn’t an actual campground and close to the ren faire to get there quickly on Sunday. We spent most of the afternoon fishing (you will definitely catch something) and the entire property is very thought out and intentional with activities. I was looking forward to a little hiking as walking trails are listed but they're just paths from site to site, so I wouldn’t anticipate that but there’s plenty else to do. The bathroom was very nice and they have a small shop for some items you may have forgotten: snacks, propane, rope, ice, wood. This may be an annual trip for us! 🙂

Croaky Oak Clearing of Good Knights Reserve is located in Ohio and a 25-30 minute drive to Dublin. You'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site offered. Here you can pitch your tent, build a campfire, catch and release a few fish from the pond, or choose to sit on the floating dock with your feet in the water. There are also a few short trails to meander through. Great location as Columbus is 30 min to the east, Dayton is 25 min to the west. 13 min to I 675 and 20 min to Interstate 75 N/S. I 71 N/S Columbus is 35 min away in downtown Columbus... NOTE: Little over a quarter of a mile off of Interstate 70, and on a State Route, If looking for absolute silence and desolation, this is not for you. About

With miles of sandy beaches, bird-filled marshes, and wooded shoreline, there’s enough space for everyone at Indian Lake State Park. Bring your own boat, jet ski, or kayak and set out to explore, go fishing, or cool off with a swim. If you don’t want to get wet, there are several short hiking trails, as well as a paved bikeway, or you can drive over to discover the islands on the south shore. Indian Lake State Campground has electric hookup, full hookup, and tent-only sites, many of which are right by the lakeside, as well as nine boat camping sites. 

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. You can reserve one of the park’s 451 campsites via the Reserve Ohio website. 
  2. Campsite reservations open from 7am, six months in advance for all campsites. 
  3. Campsites can book up fast, so book as early as possible, especially if visiting during peak season or on holiday weekends.

When to go

Day-trippers and campers descend on the lake in the summer months, and the park can get busy, especially on weekends. Expect crowds at the campground and picnic areas. Camping is possible year-round, although some sites close in winter. Bird-watching is best during the spring and winter migrations, while off-season campers can enjoy seasonal activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

Know before you go

  • Indian Lake State Park is northwest of Columbus, about a 1-hour 10-minute drive away. The main entrance to the park and campground is on the north side of the lake, but the park also encompasses the Moundwood area at the south side and the lake islands.
  • There are no entrance fees for Ohio State parks, but camping and reservation fees apply. Ohio fishing licenses are also required.
  • Facilities include restrooms, picnic areas, boat launches, and fishing piers. A number of restaurants, general stores, and bait shops dot the lakeshore. 
  • There is unlimited horsepower at the lake, and you can bring your own watercraft. Swimming is permitted at the two beaches and four designated swim areas.
  • There are ADA-accessible campsites, restrooms, and boat launches.
