Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare. The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable. We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm. We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025. If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls 3. big pond Please note all pictures taken on and of the ranch remain the property of the LAF ranch and are to be used for personal or promotional purposes only. No sales of images allowed. Follow us on Instagram and FB for updates, events and discounts. Discounts to repeat campers. As a young girl, I read "Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. That book opened my eyes to a different way of living. From that moment on, I dreamed of one day living in big woods somewhere. As an adult, some of those dreams are coming true! We have Casita in the hills in Hill Country Texas! We are a small, beginner homestead and we'd love to share this journey with YOU! Donkeys and deer roam most of the property. We also are raising chickens, ducks, rabbits, a few pet goats and bees. We have camping spots, (2) rv electric hook ups and a small cabin to sleep in. Our property is on 14 acres. We have open pastures and forested areas. Whether you are seeking to escape the city hustle and bustle, or want a small taste of the homestead life, this is a great place to be! We are located about 35 minutes from San Antonio, 25 minutes from Boerne and 15 minutes from the Cowboy Capital of the World, Bandera, TX! We do have a visible neighboring property. Therefore there is the occasional barking, lights, and music that can be heard/seen. We hope you choose to stay here and enjoy your stay!

Texas Sage Campsite and Cabin

Texas Sage Campsite and Cabin

This hill has been called "healing hill" because of how peaceful the sunsets are. You literally melt away when you sit out on your lawn chairs and watch the sun go down. Coyotes yap and howl a little out in the distance, and a rabbit is sure to come darting across the yard when the Texas sun begins to set. The cabin sits on 5 acres, but we ask that you stay at your campsite. The site is located with other cabins and houses, so you will not be alone, but everyone is polite and friendly. Hiking is not available on the property, but there is plenty of outdoor activity near by: Hill Country State Park, Bandera City Park, Medina Lake, Medina River. Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Park is a reasonable drive away to make a day trip. The property is available for glamping and the cabin features a walk-in bedroom with spacious bathroom. You are welcome to pitch your tents and have access to the cabin as well. The cabin sleeps two people, but if you pitch tents, you can have more registered guests for an additional fee of $10 a person. Please ask first, so I can adjust the guest limit BEFORE you arrive. This is South Texas, so occasionally burn bans come into effect. Please be aware of this and with each booking I will keep you alerted to whether or not the fire pit is available for use. In the case of a burn ban, you may choose to stay without fire or find another spot (burn ban in one location is burn ban in all the county). Please feel free to ask questions.
