SPECIAL NOTE FOR 2026: This Summer we are adding onto our host cabin. There may be construction noise (think compressed air nail gun, occasional equipment noise) during your stay, especially at the tent and RV campsites. 8AM-6PM, except Sunday. It will be less audible at The River Cabin. Our physical location is approximately 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry and 1 mile South of Eastport, ID. We are a mile South of the Canadian Border just off US 95. Our tent campsite and RV campsite have separate booking sites but share the same shelter and toilet. If you book either site the "other" booking site is blocked during your stay. Our Forest is surrounded by Kaniksu National Forest which is managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) as part of the Idaho Panhandle. National Forest.. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 92 miles long. The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites. There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services. There is a fire pit (firewood provided), covered shelter, a USFS-style charcoal grill, (bring charcoal and starter), picnic table, benches, bear-proof food storage box and TEMPORARY trash bin. Please plan to "pack-out" all of your trash and recyclables. There are a lot of deer roaming the property, along with many birds and other wildlife . OUR NIGHTLY CHARGE Includes all the firewood you need and a 15% Hipcamp Host Service Fee. It does not include 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Convention and Travel Tax. Be Bear Aware : From April 1 - November 1 all food, beverages and trash must never be left unattended and, all of the same, be stored properly. Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site. Most private: Sites A, B, 1, 2 and 3, or Sites C/D or E/F, when booked in pairs. This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is no longer off grid, but if the power does go out, it's a great place to be.. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Along the driveway where the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness can best be seen across our grassy pond, the view has always captivated us, so we dropped a tiny cabin here. It’s a magical rustic blend of off-grid simplicity and curated luxury. We built the Cabin with the intention of doing things differently and because we believe we’ve succeeded in this concept, finding the words to define it has been a challenge. It’s somewhere between guest lodge and summer camp. When you come here, you have to expect that you’ll also be doing things differently. Like preparing your food over the outdoor fire or the outdoor cook stove, and heating water to wash the enamel plates in a basin after your meal. And in learning how to use the composting toilet (don’t worry, it’s in a room of its own off the front porch!). Instead of a shower, you’ll have a forest sauna and a dip in the creek. Bring your ice chest and your favorite camp cooking meals. You can find details on exactly what is provided below. The single room has handcrafted custom everything from the queen sized bed to the built in counter. Outfitted with a blend of vintage treasures and thoughtfully sourced high quality pieces like the tiny wood stove with a glowing glass front and the organic linens inviting you in. This is a space for you to soak in nature and connect over the campfire, or across the board game by the light of candles. Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

This place is magical! The cabin is adorable and very cozy. There’s little lanterns in the trees which are a great touch at night. The water is super close and the fishing dock is wonderful to sit on while watching sunset. It was so quiet and peaceful. The restroom was super clean and near by. It’s a very well kept and beautiful location.

Beautiful site! I stayed at site A, and it's a cozy, tiny cabin, but the site itself felt like a ton of space. Clean, private, and on the lake! I saw a ton of wildlife too. And it's cheaper than most places would be for what you get. Will be going back sooner than later! Nathaniel was a great host too. My only feedback would be to include signs to the garbage disposal. I tried to find it after dark and got lost even with the map (this may be user error so take it with a grain of salt).

Weekend Trip to Cozy Mountain Bungalow

The cabin was great - it was a small shed converted into a cabin that had a single (full-sized? queen?) bed with a rocking chair, an armoir, and a small closet. The bathroom was an attached outhouse with sawdust to soak up waste and neutralize any smells. They provided a camping sink with 5 gallons of water, a camping gas stove, a citranella candle, and plates, bowls, and utensils. The cabin sits towards the middle of the driveway to the hosts' house and they have the friendliest dog. My son and I had a great time. Zero light pollution, no noise pollution, just fresh north Idaho air.

lots to explore in the upper pack river valley. Our experience with Mike as a host was fantastic, very accommodating. The cottage is very cozy and has many little extras stocked insids, flashlights right where you need them if your going out in the night, board games and cards, reading material, a book on the hiking trails in the area, cutlery and the shower works great. We highly recommend this getaway. This cottage would also be a great location to have close access to hunting in the area during the season as well.

The Hosts are so solid. People you want in your life. Kind, genuine. For me this is important and makes all the difference in this life and especially when sharing community. However, It wouldn’t really matter if you didn’t like them anyway, because in the whispering woods of their remote property, the cabin is on its own level. You’re all alone in the Magic of the hill top. Great place to reset, write, read. Or, Do absolutely nothing with your dog. Also a good jump off point to many trails and everything Panhandle. 20 minutes from Sandpoint. We came from Priest Lake and were headed to Glacier via the Swinging Bridge route on 2. Good pillows, comfortable bed, cast iron, games, telescope, wall of windows, yet so private. Only the soaring Eagles will see you. Doug brought me maps and books and Jessica brought me solutions for anything that came up along my way. Great communication. Reliable. Fair. Not for the Bougie. Unless you’re trying to come back to earth.

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

We had a wonderful visit. This is our 2nd visit. The lake has alot of Lilly pads but we went out and went swimming at Lake Pend Orielle and had a great time. The lil cabin is nice to put all of our stuff in so that it doesn't clutter the tent. The burn ban was in effect but we still sat around the fire pit and listened to all the sounds. The frogs were making music. So many turkeys and deer. Such a gorgeous view. Will be back again!

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

This was the first Hipcamp experience for us and it was a good one. The lake was peaceful and the little cabin so cute. I loved how easy it was to book and the communication and detail on locating the place was great. We lucked out with this tiny gem. When we arrived it was beautiful and sunny but within 20 minutes or so a storm complete with big hail came rolling in. Having the cabin for shelter was nice during the storm even though it was short lived. It was a cozy spot. The touch of having solar lanterns gave it a special touch for the evening. The extras like a cot and sleeping pads was a help. I would recommend this place. Next hopefully we can stay longer to explore more.

2 nights at 7B Cabin

We had a fantastic stay at the cabin. It is a cute and cozy space, not too far from coeur d’alene but outside the city enough to avoid the noise and city lights. The dogs felt really comfortable and were able to run around and explore. We had all the comforts of home away from home and Aran was a really welcoming and responsive host. Would love to go again in the colder months to stoke a fire and enjoy the beautiful scenery in winter

3 nights at ALMOST TO CANADA - FAR NORTH IDAHO

We had a really fun time staying in the cabin! It was very cute and had everything we needed. The fire pit / covered picnic table / bench swing area provided a beautiful view of the river and surrounding mountains. My husband was very happy with the trout he caught and the kiddos had a lot of fun playing in the river. Definitely recommend!
