This property is home to a farm/nursery operation and has a large pond on the west side. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay.
Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites.
Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants.
Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too.
Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand.
Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas.

This is one of South St Pete’s oldest neighborhoods- it surrounds an active former PGA golf course and lively country club. It’s a great place for safely biking or walking with green spaces, tennis courts, playgrounds and dog parks nearby.
There are many owls, raptors, green parrots, purple martins and osprey overhead as we’re just a few blocks from the beautiful Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. - not to be missed!
The Pinellas Trail is just a short bike ride away too and can lead you to downtown. It is a cyclists favorite!

Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants.
This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers.
From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting.
We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

The Withlacoochee Trail is a mile east at the end of the road. This is a biking, hiking and equestrian trail. Florida Classic Park is roughly 2 miles north on Lockhart. The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away.

Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas.

Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants.
This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers.
From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting.
We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

The sites are great with ample space. The facilities were clean and nice. The hosts are communicative and provide clear and ample instruction.
My absolute favorite part was the walk to and sitting under the pavilion by the river. I loved the beautiful wood furniture to relax in. I meant to ask, but wondered if the owner had made the set himself.
It’s hard to find campsites with power in this area, so this was great. If you’re tent camping, site 2 has a huge tree which kept my 10 person pop up tent in almost complete shade all day!
The only downside I could find in my weeklong stay was the road traffic when using a tent. If you are a light sleeper, I would recommend sleeping in your vehicle or earplugs. It’s not that this road is very busy, but it is near larger Little Rd.

I loved the quiet yard with interesting plants as well as chickens. The neighborhood is wonderful! It is close to many bike-able spots. We rode through tree lined roads on our way to the bay and the local recreation center. Our host was very accommodating and promptly took care of any issues we had.

I found this place via hip camp, I tried to approach this place is for healing to find the solitude that I need as well as understand myself with others. What I found was residence who are willing to make up rumors and throw non-residents out, I was sleeping in a tent and had no better place to go but the owner would rather take their vacation. Last minute trip to get my Mom out camping again for the first time in years. What a neat property so close to the downtown of NPR along with great preserves and parks! Even with a very windy night it was so nice being tucked in by the trees and even enjoying a magical evening walk & sit at the boardwalk shelter. Big thumbs up to the beautiful clean restrooms/shower that we really appreciated, way better than many hotels/bnb"s offer! Beautiful campsite. Very quiet while we were there. Enjoyed the walk to the river.
Some of the sites do not have a fire pit/ring.
Alderman's Ford Conservation Park is nearby and worth a visit.

Mike was a kind and welcoming host. He gave us a rundown of the entire Campground with details directions, and told us about local attractions that we should check out during our stay.
The campground itself is big and quiet, and very primitive. There are a few tables and chairs and fire rings around the campground but depending on who's staying those tend to move around. We had a table and a fire ring at our site when we came in. Plenty of sunshine for anyone who has solar power

This is really a great camping spot. The property is beautiful, has amenities that we did not get to take advantage of, and is a super convenient location. The bathrooms were spotless and we really enjoyed working with JR. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We only needed a place to park our teardrop for a couple of days while we visited family. We didn't need to hook up to anything. We were greeted upon arrival and felt good about leaving our teardrop there.

This was the best camping I’ve done in a while. Beautiful place, nice staff and clean bathrooms. The owner took us on the UTV tour, he’s very nice and funny. The animals were so much fun to feed and see them freely grazing and walking around. We’ll definitely be back.

We needed a place to park our teardrop for 2 nights while we visited family in a condo setting(no extra room to park our teardrop). Jennifer responded promptly to us and her husband met us when we arrived. Directions were clear.

We had a wonderful experience! Nothing like seating down for a meal and having a longhorn right next to you! Beautiful place, very peaceful, just what we were looking for on our very first camping trip! Goats were a hit with our children, specially the baby goats!!!
If we could change one thing is how close to the main road the place is, we could still hear and see some traffic.. other than that great place to have a camping experience with little ones

i have camp at medard many times, had a motor home then, and i loved it, all the people that worked there are as nice as they can be, i sold the motor home as we are done with seeing the states, i am now going to try a tent, and medard will be where i try it out, so nice and peaceful, good fishing, good place to take your bike, or just good for a nice walk.
