Please note that it is normal for the system to drop out for periods of 30 seconds up to 2 minutes at a time since this is early stage technology. STRONG WINDS The winds in the desert are very strong between February and June which may limit your enjoyment of the outdoor amenities. We do all we can to navigate around the winds but cannot control the impact it may have on your stay. POWER OUTAGES The power is cut off for 8-12 hours at least twice a year by the electrical company in order for maintenance to be done (for instance in preparation for the fire seasons). We inform our guests of outages as soon as we are made aware but cannot control the time or manner in which this may impact your stay. REFUNDS Should any inconveniences such as those listed above or anything else beyond our control affect your stay, we will not provide refunds. Please understand certain things simply come with the windy, rural, desert location. Thank for understanding! The famous Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches 2,663 miles from Canada to Mexico, passes just east of us. This land is a perfect retreat — whether you’re escaping the city or taking a break from a PCT trek. Even on big holiday weekends, you'll be completely isolated from traffic and crowds. In the Summer, Big Bear Valley offers countless hiking trails, boating and fishing in the lake, mountain and road biking, horseback riding, golf, ziplining, the zoo, and many other outdoor activities. In Winter, there's skiing/boarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and more. For kids, there's a "fort," swings, and a huge sandbox in a boat. They're also welcome to help feed our chickens. Also within minutes by car/bus are... > Two ski and snowboard resorts, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, offering 26 lifts and 55 runs. There are excellent schools and family areas, as well as serious terrain parks and an Olympic-size halfpipe. At 7,000 feet, it's an entirely different game. For those seeking a true wilderness adventure, the San Bernardino Mountains offer spectacular terrain. While the Serranos have called these mountains home for many centuries, Europeans didn't venture into this rugged land till 1850. It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). Weekend Trip to The Cabins at Joshua Tree Lake RV

This cabin was everything I needed and more for a quick weekend of hiking and exploring Joshua Tree. Coming from out of state, I was able to roll in with my carry on and still have the camping-esque weekend of campfires and picnic table lounging that I was looking for. The main host is so kind, helpful to work with, and was prompt to reply to questions I had. The place looked just as it does in the photos here and I thought the blankets and bedding far exceeded my expectations for a “dorm” hostel in the desert. The only thing I might add would be hooks. I lucked out and had the place to myself, but had there been others sharing the space, places to hang things would be really helpful in keeping the space organized. I’d definitely recommend this hostel and consider staying again when I’m in the area :)

1 night at Stargazer Cabin

Nice essential oils smell when we entered. Padlocked fence before entering the property, so felt safe. Good amenities. The hot tub was cold when we arrived and wasn't heating up, but that might have been a user error. Very responsive host, so I probably could have reached out and found a solution. The fridge had old food in it (cucumbers, opened drinks) but we didn't really care. The bathroom area was awesome. Loved the shower. The water took 10 minutes to heat up but then was hot after. Water pressure was pretty low. Wifi was strong. Enjoyed using the fire pit. The outdoor furniture on the patio was covered in dog hair, so we weren't able to use it. Overall a great stay!

1 night at Granite Mountain

The lodge itself was so clean and cozy! Despite it being small, you really do have enough space inside to comfortably have two people inside. Bathroom was nice for a compost toilet, and owner is very kind and willing to change it out if need be! Shower got nice and hot after a couple mins and towels were provided! The view is gorgeous, waking up to it is so refreshing. If you’re looking for a simple, quiet place to get away for a night, this is perfect. My only complaint would be there’s no curtains or blinds, but there’s generally no way anyone outside would be able to see in due to the plants around the lodge.

Great location if you want to disconnect and enjoy some time to yourself and whomever you are with! The place was very. Lean, modern. Great time in the hot tub and around the fire. It was our dogs last trip and it was great to see him sniff around, enjoy the fire and just spend quality time. I would def have no problem recommending this property and host and/or re book this very property myself!

We had an amazing stay at the Eagles Nest cabin at Granite Mountain. It’s located at the highest point of the property, and while it requires a short uphill hike to get there, the views are absolutely worth it. The site is incredibly well-designed; the three cabins are spaced out so you never have to walk past another guest's space, offering great privacy and your own dedicated outdoor area. The cabin itself is a glamping dream—equipped with electricity, AC, heat, and water supply. Having an attached bathroom with a wonderful hot shower was the perfect way to end a long day outdoors. Truly a wonderful getaway!

Weekend Trip to Cozy Retreat in Joshua Tree

If you’d like to keep busy doing nothing, then this is the spot for you. Great little Place with great views all the way around.not too many neighbors around this property to obstruct the view of the greatness that it offers. Just about everything that you would need for kitchen is included with the rental and with a little bit of imagination, this property becomes more magical. Only thing I would recommend is for you to bring your own food whether it’s from the restaurant down the street or from home just to avoid driving the dirt roads.

Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain

I stayed at the cabin on Granite Mountain during January. The cabin was cozy even in the cool temps and was spotless. A tiny heater that Ken provided warmed up the space quite well, but I was glad that I had brought slippers to wear in the cabin as the floor was still a bit chilly. I also brought slip on shoes so that I could easily take my shoes on and off when entering and exiting the cabin and I was glad that I did. Although Ken provides the basic kitchen supplies, I wish I had brought a quick dry towel and/or some paper towels to make cleaning dishes a little easier. Another consideration is that the site has uneven & steep ground, so you will need to be very careful of your footing - especially at night. The cabin was beautiful and easy to find and the bed was very comfortable. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed about was the traffic noise. Other than that, I highly recommend.
