The Cottage sits on 10 acres+, unlike 1-2 acre or less, packed areas like Kachina Village, Mountain Aire, Baderville, Doney Park, or Sherwood Forest, which are tightly packed neighborhoods. These “city neighborhood styled areas” are NOT desirable; mixed communities with nice houses and junk properties intermingled and virtually no land or easy forest/wildland access. At The Cottage, you will not be in a suburban or semi-rural neighborhood. You’ll be staying far from local cities. This is a free-standing, remote, deep-in-the forest place with a gorgeous view of the famous Spring Valley and mountain views of Mt. Sitgreaves. Many lakes are nearby in Williams including Cataract, Kaibab, Dogtown and White Horse lakes. Grand Canyon a little over an hour due North. Bearizona drive-thru wildlife park about 13 miles West. Sedona and its Red Rock majesty about an hour SE. Meteor Crater and Painted Desert about 45 mins East. Out of Africa wildlife park and indoor shooting range about 1:15 SE. Verde Valley Railroad in Clarkdale, next to Cottonwood. SnowBowl winter ski resort and its Summer Fun activities nearby in Flagstaff. Folks often ask how close walking trails are. Start at The Cottage’s door and virtually head out! Take a 2 mile RT flat walk to Spring Valley Tank, a very popular watering hole for all thirsty wildlife around here on the Spring Valley X-Country Ski Trail. Take a hike or dirt bicycle ride to Shulz Pass and see it's gorgeous high mountain meadows about 1 mile past Spring Valley Tank. Or for near 360 degree views of most of Northern Arizona’s highest peaks plus a glimpse of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, take a 4 mile RT horseback ride or hike due East to Lone Tree Lookout, about 1/2 mile past Spring Valley Knoll. And if you dare and you’re in high altitude climbing condition, try mountain hiking to the peak of Mt. Sitgreaves due West of here. No fire roads. No trails unless you stumble upon an elk trail. We are told that only 5 people per year find the summit and make it to the top. Please advise us if you intend to try it. If you tackle this challenge, please advise us when you depart and when we should expect your return. Please have a cell phone AND GPS emergency locator with you if you try. Max stays: 9 nights. 650-700 sq ft is an estimated cottage size; what we were told when we purchased the property. "Emergency" hosted laundry services for spills on bedding at $25 per load (wash and dry). No self-serve laundry available. If you have a different type of laundry emergency, please ask if we can help. This is a NO SMOKING COTTAGE indoors. OUTDOOR SMOKING AREA: Concrete areas and around the outdoor fire pit. The Wagons are a fun and cool experience! We ended up lengthening our stay an extra night because we enjoyed the ambiance, amenities, and accessibility to other areas so much. The only downside: There was one night that several long term guests got very drunk in the clubhouse while we were trying to eat dinner. They blasted music and started being vulgar quite loudly considering how many kids were around (it was maybe 6 or 7 so not bedtime by any means). Not Verde's fault since people do it everywhere but it's such a nice place you forget those people exist until you encounter them. The staff was great and so helpful. The hipcamp app kept failing so the front desk took care of our reservation extension. Pool is heated, hot tubs are perfect, the arcade was a nice touch, the clubhouse is comfortable, the gym was surprisingly serviceable. I don't have any big complaints and we absolutely will stay here again!

Couldn't ask for much better! This is the exact "cabin in the woods" experience we were seeking. It was super cozy, quiet, private, with nice hosts. We were able to meet them at check-in and they seemed great. They are very detailed in descriptions, answering any possible question one may have about staying here. I'd love to have a cabin of my own like this one day.

This place is just amazing. It encourages you to be outside weather permitted. I stayed in one of the sites that has the grill and fireplace. It was very nice to experience that, especially when it snowed! I had that fireplace going. It was beautiful. Next to the campground is a national forest and it was very nice for my dog and I to walk through the trails. The clubhouse is not a clubhouse. It’s a chalet! It is gorgeous and so inviting. The staff is very nice, especially Sabrina. Whenever I had questions or concerns, she was always so accommodating. And she makes a great peach Arizona mule. Thank you, Sabrina for your hospitality. I will certainly be back again.

I’d highly recommend Verde camp. Extremely clean, and had every amenity. Also we went over Easter break and they had two Easter egg hunts that my kids had a total blast participating in. My family loved the pool and the game room. We want to make it a tradition every Easter break.

We parked our camper van at Verde and it was amazing! The amenities were awesome! We enjoyed spending time in the hot tub after a long hike. Check in after hours was easy and our welcome packet that was left for us had all the info we needed. We are so thankful DeAndre who was closing up the pool gave us an extra 20 minutes after closing to enjoy it as we only stayed one night. We would absolutely come back again!

We just stumbled on Christina’s listing and so happy we did! The spot was so quiet and remote, no service unless you hike up the hills (which is what we wanted!), and the stars at night are gorgeous. Christina was really easy to talk to and great with directions. She was always available if we needed anything and informative of the area. Seemed like a genuine great person. Side note to campers, prepare for flies! They didn’t care about our food but just would not leave us alone unless we had reflectors up. Definitely no fault of the host, it’s just the area. A pretty minor thing though, would still highly recommend staying if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. And a great spot for dogs!

Amazing place! We stayed a couple of nights in both cabins. Jason was an excellent host - extremely knowledgeable about the area, very helpful and super friendly, too! The star gazing was incredible out on the property, the sense of solitude was rejuvenating, and the proximity of the river all made for a perfect spring break for our family of four and our pup. The cabins are cozy and have everything you need while still maintaining a sense of simpler things. Thanks for everything, Jason!

We loved tent camping on Christina's lamd, she was super helpful and showed us the layout even though we arrived late. Great open spot for tent/campfires/cooking and so much more. Easily accessible by vehicle, we drove in a RWD while towing a trailer and made it just fine. Super clear skies no light pollution. Will definitely be staying here when i pass through again!!

Close to the Grand Canyon! Just 1/2 mile off the Arizona Trail! Hike 6 miles to Snowbowl. This darling camper cabin has one bedroom with a queen sized bed (2 guests), and two pull out couches for up to four additional guests. The well stocked kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need for cooking, a propane range, as well as a cooler for your use (bring ice). A gas barbecue is on site as well. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by.
