Camp on the Oregon Trail. Space #1. Water and Power on site Learn more about this land: We are in Meacham, Oregon and close to everything outdoors. About half way between Pendleton and La Grande. Not far from Starkey, Ukiah, Umatilla with national forest just minutes away. This spot has an outhouse for your use. This is also a 1 minute walk to The Oregon Trail Cafe. You will hear trains as they are across the intersection. Some nights more than others.We are in Meacham, Oregon and close to everything outdoors. About half way between Pendleton and La Grande. There are railroad tracks just across the street. They do get used.

There is a train track just across the street. Trains can run at any hour. NOTE: Book early in the day if possible, if you book after 7 PM, there is no guarantee anyone is available via phone until the following morning. No one is ever available on property after 6 PM. But you can show up later.

Nice stop - great food!

This was a cool place to stop - kids really enjoyed the fire truck and small town. The restaurant is a nice perk and the food was delicious for a reasonable price. Overall a great time. The trains... well it's hit or miss. We had maybe 3 go through in the night. The train horn is loud but after that it's the peaceful rumbling of the train. Cool experience.

The restaurant was great and they were very informative. We took a short bypass on their recommendation and saw a part of history that we would have never known about. They also have multiple hookups if there is an issue with the site.

FUN for train lovers!

20 ft pop-up camper

We loved using Dave's land! Although we weren't able to enjoy the store/diner, we enjoyed the midnight trains and the Elk that roam around the bend :). Thanks Dave for your last minute reservation and assistance/tips from the nice guys who met us !! Vanessa

We stayed in December and unfortunately the spots were plowed in with snow so we needed to park off property. The host was not present. The porta potty was clean which was nice.

Overbooked smart to overlook

When we got there at three thirty our reserved spot was taken and all the others were filled one by a pickup so luckily we were able to find a spot. The spot looked really rough and way to close to each other and kind of broke down looking. I would not recommend this site to anyone

Beautiful setting. Lovely campsite on the grass. Restaurant and owners were awesome! Food was amazing. But if you want to sleep, no chance. Railroad tracks are nearby and train comes by about every half hour blowing its horn through the intersection so that’s what you get all night long.

Great Stop-Over!

This was a great stop over on a long trip over I84. Right off the highway. The food in the cafe was amazing and unexpected. We just needed an inexpensive, safe place to park and have power so we could sleep with AC and carry on down the road, Dave’s place was perfect. The trains did not bother us at all.

Great spot to pitch/park

Dave is a wonderful and kind man whom I met briefly but felt Ive known always. My car got stuck in the snow during my stay and Dave was compassionate and eager to help in any way he could. This is a great spot if you want: 1.) a place to pitch/park, 2.) a chance to interact with super down to earth locals, 3.) get some delightful Country breakfast and coffee right after you wake up The only downside is the spot is next to a busy railroad. The horns are loud as hell and will wake you up if you sleep early. Thankfully, the trains stopped rolling through around 9PM and I would guess this is usually the case aswell.

Not the best.

A minimum of 12 trains came thru. Right outside of our tent blowing loud whistle each time. We paid for water, no water near our spot. Clean porta potty. Hand sanitizer empty.

We had a great stay here for a quick overnight. We were sad to miss dinner by a half hour, but the breakfast in the morning was great (and you can't beat the one minute walk to good food). Nothing like some 30 amp service and some biscuits and gravy!

Simple enough...pull up off the side of the road, park and plug in if needed. It is a bit loud however I was able to sleep so all worked out.

I enjoyed my stay at Oregon Trail Powered Camp Site. Very nice and helpful host. They prepare great food at their café as well. If you are looking for a place to just slow down I would recommend it.

Quick and eady

Dave was kind and accommodating. It was great to have electrical hookup and a toilet. The site was close to the road so did not feel real safe for a single woman.

A GEM

A wonderful simple place to lay your head for the night.....it was snowing and I had all the heat I needed and felt safe and cozy in my Casita....just a word of caution, if you don't love trains and their horns, then I would consider choosing another place but if you love trains then the sound is comforting. Also, great little cafe next door. A gem of a place.

Thanks to other comments we were prepared for the trains. Parking was a little muddy but it is winter after all. If we weren’t in Covid I would’ve liked to visit the cafe, maybe next time.

No frills railroad-roadside pul off

Conveniently located, not far from Immigrant Springs State Park which is on the highway, this is off the highway but right next to an active railroad track.

Easy, cheap, no fuss for roadtrip

Perfect quick layover on a road trip—simple, easy drive-up access, nice grassy sleeping area. It’s basically a giant lawn they divided into camp spots. We heard cows, elk bugling, and trains, all of which was actually comforting for a late-night layover.

Good spot for quick layover

Dave greeted us upon arrival, made sure we had all we needed. Invited us over for “Taco Tuesday”, food was great. Only downside is close to RR tracks and a few trains passed in the night. Didn’t bother us too much as we live near tracks and are used to it.

Group trip

Dave was very responsive despite coming in around 9/930pm. The site is an open gravel space with about 4-5 electric hookups (from what I saw). There is a barn, house, and the Oregon Trail Store next to it with some houses scattered along the drive. About 3-4 mins from 84 exit depending which direction you’re coming and close to train tracks so you will hear the train at night and early morning, but I didn’t really lose any sleep. Besides that, the restaurant (Oregon Trail Store) has all you need for camping —including a hose for portable water—and a delish breakfast before the hustle out. We did not stay for lunch but do yourself a favor and try the Bundaberg soda (amazing)!

Nice people, convenient stop off!

This is a convenient stop off for overnight! Cafe and store are convenient for basic needs and something to eat. Closed on Wednesdays. Has the potential for great long term sites with some work, Dave has only had the place for two years. Very reasonable rates. Good for RV’s or tents, great grassy area. Dogs welcome!
