Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family. Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile. Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy. Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

The Property: Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek. We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay. There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well. We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property. Tent in the Trees Listing: Your tent site is built above the trail and overlooking the creek. The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink! Primitive Camp Site: The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite. No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed. This off grid cabin has everything you need to make living in nature as enjoyable as possible. Just enough to still feel close to nature without giving up any comfort. This cabin is located in Muddy Pond Mennonite community. Within two miles of our cabin you will find multiple leather goods stores, the Country Porch restaurant and store, Muddy pond general store, the variety store, sorghum mills, locally grown produce, hand made furniture and more. This is a wonderful and relaxing area full of adventure and hospitality. We are within 20 miles of 4 major waterfalls including burgess falls. Cummins falls, rock island and virgin falls. Several state parks, hiking trails and mountains are close by for an adventurous day trip. We hope you enjoy this place as much as our family does.

Weekend Trip to Clayton Geneva Memorial Camp Ground

Staying on Amber's property was phenomenal! We stayed in Jewel's Covered Wagon, and the glamping factor was TOP NOTCH. A cute and cozy covered wagon tiny space, including a dehumidifier/cooling unit (yay for cool air!), a small coffee maker, bench seats for sitting inside, small table and chairs on the deck....and an AMAZING host, Amber! She was prompt in answering our messages through the HipCamp app, and accomodating any and all of our requests. We knew going in that we were in for a rain filled weekend, but, it was PERFECT. A bundle of wood was there for us to use, a firepit, a picnic table, and a small iron grill. 2 EXTREMELY CLEAN port-o-potty's to use for bathroom needs, also right arctic across from our site. She does have showers also, up by the RV area. The site is just a 2 minute stroll from the Cumberland River, which was so peaceful! Absolutely a FIVE STAR experience, and we'll definitely go back again, for rain or shine camping! Thank you, Amber! 💚

Weekend Trip to Patrick's Point River Camp

We stayed during some intense rains, and to be honest it only made the experience that much better! The cabin is tucked off in the woods about 25ft from the fire pit and picnic table. It was quiet and peaceful. I look forward to staying again!

I stayed at the secluded riverside cabin and it was awesome! Patrick was so friendly and accommodating. This Hipcamp had so much to offer…bathrooms,showers,kayaks and so many styles of “roughing it”. Also close to a variety of outdoor activities and parks. I would definitely stay if I ever am back in the area

I really enjoyed staying at Alice's place. The tent had everything you could possibly need. It was a comfortable and soothing sleep listening to the running water. The restroom facilities were clean and well stocked. Alice was very informative and a wonderful communicator. I feel fortunate to have found such unique place to stay and that Alice was willing to share it

Patrick's Point is a great campsite. Options are available for tent camping, cabins, and really cool treehouse sheds. Great birdwatching, kayaking and just enjoying a peaceful place. Very clean and well-maintained. The hosts are so friendly and live on-site if you ever need anything or want to hear a good story. Order the Costa Rican breakfast--you'll be glad you did.

We will definitely be nearly stay here again. This place is beyond cool and has been owned by the same family for generations. I especially appreciate the wonderful home cooked meals and the ambiance of the creek and wild life. This family is also extremely knowledgeable about geology and high-quality coffee. If you are in the area and you pass this place up. You need to ask yourself, “what am I doing with my life”. This is a once in a lifetime kinda place.

Big South fork - off the train RRG

Lovely stay, definitely also recommend Backcountry camping. Permits are only $8. Big South fork reminds me of red river gorge, but less crowded and more remote. Love it!

I hike both Twin Arches and Angel Falls and liked them both. The arches were impressive and trail was clear. Angel falls was a nice hike but not clearly marked and the view of falls was really lacking which makes hikers go what seems to be off trail to see what they came here for. Lots of trash at the campsites too (aluminum cans, shirts).

The Big South Fork is a beautiful and fun place to visit. We saw the moon bow and it was awesome. Best time to see it is 2 hours after sunset so the moon has time to rise more.

Bandy Creek Campground

We spent the weekend of 8/24-26 camping in Big South Fork and barely scratched the surface of the park's offerings. We stayed at the Bandy Creek Campsite in Loop A and were very comfortable with the property's well-maintained facilities. There is an on-site Ranger Station with information about the park as well as a camp store and firewood/ice purchases on the honor-system. The campground is close to a number of great day hikes, and none of the trails we explored were farther than a 30min drive away. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to future campers!

Bandy Creek Campground

We camped in Loop A of Bandy Creek last weekend for two nights. The campground's extremely well-maintained--as mentioned in the review below, each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern pole, as well as a bear-safe food compartment. The restrooms were very clean, with two showers (and hot water!) in both the women's and men's rooms, and a sink out front for dishwashing. The general amenities are also great--the visitor's center is beautiful, and there's a camp store near the horse stables that sells all the basics. We especially appreciated the firewood between stables 4 and 5 that anyone can buy at anytime (just slip $10 in the box). We'll definitely be back!

Bandy Creek Campground

We stayed at Bandy Creek the last week of March, 2016. There are several different Loops. We stayed in Loop A, which is for tent campers only. The other loops accommodate tents and RVs. It is moderately wooded, but you can still easily see other campers and campsites from your own. With that being said, there were probably only 4 other campers there with us. It was freezing outside! The campsite is extremely well maintained and we had a lantern post, a fire ring, a picnic table, and a gravel pad to put the tents on. The bathhouse has his and her restrooms and a family restroom. There is a sink to do dishes as well. It is also heated and the showers have hot water so if you are camping in cold weather this is a great spot to go.
