The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. The clamping Cabin sits behind the horse arena and in front of Tongue Creek. It's the cutest little cabin and we mean little, more like an expertly finished big shed. It is 10x14 with a 3x14 covered porch but finished inside like a 5 star hotel. AC, TV, Wifi, fireplace, comfortable queen size bed. Beetle kill tongue and groove ceiling, cultured barn wood wanes coating. It's super nice.
The ranch itself may be the reason for the "glamp" booking. The yard is manicured and the 25 house, goats and chickens are fun to see. The big plus is we are only 20 minutes away from the Grand Mesa outdoorsman mecca. This is probably the cheapest base camp to the Mesa.
The ranch is a great base camp to wineries, Moab, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, fishing, boating, hiking, trails and hundreds of open BLM land for Razor riding. Check us out.

The entrance is right off of highway 135, 8 miles north of Gunnison. Come down the driveway and take a right into the field. The tent is nestled against the cottonwoods far enough away from the main house for complete privacy.
Relax on the property or use it as your adventure base camp. Less than a mile from Gunnison river access, National Forest access in hunting units 54 and 55. Not far from units 66 and 67. Almont is a 2 minute drive, Gunnison is about 10 minutes away and Crested Butte is about 20 minutes from the property.
The queen size bed will be made (additional cots can be added with advance notice) and the kitchen has a two burner propane camp stove, tea pot, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and utensils. It is stocked with drinking water, oil, S&P, coffee, tea, marshmallows and fresh eggs from our chickens will be provided daily.
The tent is equipped with a wood burning stove and stocked with firewood. Additional firewood can be purchased. Kindling and fire starters are also available at no charge- let us do the hard work - you RELAX! Electricity is provided, so you can charge your phone or whatever else you need.
Enjoy your private fire pit, chill in the rocking camping chairs, or walk across the field to the main house and enjoy the hot tub on the deck. You may spot our horse "Sassy" or some of our chickens roaming around.
A porta potty is situated near (but not too near) the tent for your convenience. Towels and wash cloths are also provided.

Dragonsong Sanctuary is a multi generational community and retreat center—a place for both nurturing connection and deep, restorative peace. If you’re seeking support, we offer Tai Ji, Qi Gong, herbal consultations, rune readings, guided journeys (inner or on the Mesa), and organic home-cooked meals with advance notice (vegan and gluten-free available). And if solitude is what you need, you’ll find that here in abundance. This is your journey—we’re simply here to support it.
Set on 40 acres of juniper and piñon forest with expansive views of the San Juan and West Elk Mountains, Dragonsong offers trails to wander, wide open skies, and peaceful immersion in Nature. We’re just 20 minutes from the Grand Mesa’s 300 lakes and vast wilderness.
Stay in one of our campsites (with composting toilet and outdoor shower), or Juniper House—our cozy 2-bedroom bungalow at the forest’s edge. Juniper House features an open layout, a deep soaking tub, a well-stocked kitchen with organic spices, and views of meadow, forest, and mountains. Step out the back door to a winding forest trail and evenings under brilliant, star-filled skies. Paddleboards are available for Mesa adventures, and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Our StarLily belle tent is a community shared space and a wonderful space for meditation, yoga, relaxation, acoustic music, or stargazing.
Just 12 minutes away, Cedaredge offers charming restaurants, galleries, live summer music, cider tasting, wine bars, and seasonal festivals. Within an hour, explore the Black Canyon, Paonia, Palisade’s wineries and farms, or soak in nearby hot springs.
Our mission is to create a space of safety, love, and belonging, where people can reconnect with Nature and themselves. We welcome individuals, families, and aligned groups or retreats. Please honor the land and all beings who call it home.

This was a first time venturing into southern Colorado and the Colorado wine region (West Elk AVA), and, my gosh, we will definitely return to explore further. Karina’s work on the camper renovations, aptly named Grace, made our stay completely enjoyable, and she’s an awesome host. She provides perfect information to be sure guests can stay comfortably - more important if someone hasn’t been around camper living - and the location of the site is perfect for easy drives to Paonia, hiking trails or other, but it’s perfectly remote enough for end of day lounging outside with a beverage of choice and then perfect quiet for sleeping. Just an overall wonderful stay that we would gladly recommend to friends, as well as return ourselves!

My family and I loved Stay’s property! The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. The cooking area has a beautiful creek and everything you need for a cookout. Multiple hammocks to choose from, a little tree bridge to cross the creek, and breathtaking views. So many deer came right up to us. They thought of everything! We had clean restrooms and warm showers. The yurt was such a cool experience and the extra fee for bedding gave us a fully made bed with extra blankets. We LOVED every moment. The downtown area has a great food options and we really enjoyed 476 Eatery for dinner. For breakfast we stopped by Paonia Bread Works and had the BEST coffee, sandwiches and pastries. The only bad part was that we could not stay longer due to our trip schedule. Thank you so much Stacy. You truly have a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Stacy was great and her land is really special. vega is the bestest of dogs and we enjoyed our stay. Pro tip. There is less road noise in the tipis. Yurt was super comfortable though. The tree in the communal kitchen is one of the best trees I have ever met. It is truly magical.

Super awesome place to camp. We loved the tent and furnishings. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom/shower facilities were great. We should’ve known how incredibly hot it was going to be and I do regret bringing a canopy for you are out in the OPEN no coverage. Although there is some on the property within the cool cutout silos where they host live music events. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. Most likely in spring or early fall.

This canyon is unbelievable! The north rim has more hiking than the south rim if you're into that. Be sure to watch out for heat and bring plenty of water.

Gunnison was crazy cool! I can’t believe how deep it is! It almost gave this fearless warrior the heebie jeebies looking over the edge!! It was super windy that day, so we didn’t hike any trails.

We did the south rim. It was amazing. And we took the drive down to the river. Along the way we saw a shaggy cinnamon colored black bear cub with a blond streak on our way out.
