Idyllic, peaceful setting on the creek. A place to let the dogs play. The grounds are immaculately kept. Grocery store near by. Guided fishing trip near by was a blast! And, Shelly & Joe could not be nicer!! We will plan a trip just to come back to this divine campsite!

A beautiful river front property with the most gracious hosts! We love Packwood and we’re thrilled to find this gem. The location is just minutes from town and hiking. Such attention to detail has been put into making this a great space for campers and the river is literally steps away. Joe and Shelly were delightful and really made our weekend away to celebrate my husbands birthday relaxing and enjoyable. We will be back

Easy RV Camping along Butter Creek!

Open, level and peaceful spot up the bank of Butter Creek. Large, gravel lot with full RV hookups. There is a little path at the creek side from one end of the lot to the other and easy stairs back up to the parking pad. Lots of options for nature walks and hiking nearby, and a short 30 minute drive to White Pass for skiing when in season. The hosts are super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time!

If you are traveling and need a place to stay in Packwood, this place is a must. The owners are absolutely amazing and the campsites are pristine. It is obvious they are very proud, as it is shown throughout the grounds. Love this place!

Perfect winter setting

Beautiful pivate property located right on the Cowlitz River. A little bit of lowland snow but white pass was only 25 minutes up the hill. Shelly was very friendly and prompt to respond. We had a wonderful time. Will definitely be back to check out the summertime fun on their property.

This was hands-down one of the best Hipcamp spots (and hosts!) we've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Shelly and Joe are truly amazing – they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and provide a top-notch camping experience. It felt like we were getting professional treatment from the moment we arrived.
Their site is perfectly situated right next to a beautiful creek. The sound of the water was so relaxing, and we loved listening to all the different birds. The location is also incredibly convenient: just 30 minutes from White Pass for some amazing outdoor adventures, and only 2 minutes from all the great shops and restaurants in Packwood. It's the perfect balance of peaceful nature and easy access to amenities.
Shelly and Joe's communication was fantastic throughout the entire process. They kept us well-informed about everything we needed to know, especially regarding camping in the freezing weather. Their thoughtful preparation made our trip so much smoother and more enjoyable. We can't recommend this Hipcamp spot highly enough! Thank you, Shelly and Joe, for an unforgettable stay!

A gem tucked away in Packwood

I would highly recommend Butter Creek. Joe and Shelly were very welcoming. A quiet space tucked only a short drive from town. Less than 30 minutes to White Pass ski area! And there are full hookups, with the cold weather it was nice to run a space heater in our RV without needing to fire up the generator.

We’ve stayed here multiple times and have always had a great time! The owners are super welcoming and helpful and you can’t beat the views in every direction. We loved being able to see, hear, and walk down to the river and there’s a walking loop from the property that was fun to use. It’s easy to get to town and easy to tow our travel trailer in and out of. We will be back!

Enjoyed our first stay so much that we came back for a longer one.. such a well kept , convenient location. With great hosts. If you’re looking for a tranquil , quiet spot that is easy to get to and from with full hook ups. This is it. Close to everything but just far enough out to be peaceful and serene. The creek is like having a sleep sound machine. We got some wonderful nights sleep here.

Great Hipcamp spot. Convenient and quiet location with plenty of space for our camper. We enjoyed sipping coffee while looking out at the creek in the mornings. Shelly and Joe were awesome hosts. Super communicative , kind and easy to get a hold of. We will be back for sure.

What a wonderful piece of land that Joe and Shelly have. We had an amazing time at the creek. The site is pristine with wonderful views. We fell asleep to the sounds of the creek below, saw elk and deer took a beautiful little hike. Overall it was a perfect spot for us. Shelly and Joe are great hosts very welcoming and informative they gave us plenty of recommendations for what to do in the area but it was so nice where we were at that we decided to spend as much time as possible at the creek. I can’t recommend this place enough. We are absolutely coming back for longer than the 3 days we spent. Thank you Joe and Shelly for opening up your land for others to enjoy. See you next time!!!

Beautiful site. Private. We have been full timing for 4.5 months, and this is the prettiest, most peaceful camp spot yet. The hosts are so friendly, interesting, and welcoming! Site is level. We had no problem maneuvering with a 42’ fifth wheel, and could accommodate bigger rigs. Trails in the forests and along the creek all around you. Access to butter creek. 30 minute drive to Mt. Ranier NP. Access to laundry was a major plus for us. Stay here!

Their place is a gem, right on the creek, which we loved exploring! It was clean, beautiful, peaceful, loved listening to the water rolling, and what an amazing view of the night sky!

Fabulous FHU near Mt. Rainier

Shelly and Joe were fantastic hosts! This spot is a gem just 20 minutes from the Steven's Canyon entrance to Mt. Rainier. We camped in FHU spot #2 next to Butter Creek, enjoyed sounds of the creek and the stars at night. This place has all of the amenities and charm without the hustle and bustle of larger campgrounds, would definitely stay here again.

A gem just outside of Ranier!!

I spent three nights at Butter Creek Retreat with my pup and absolutely LOVED it! It's hard not to keep these gems to yourself, but places like these are meant to be shared. I booked last minute and Shelly and Joe were very accommodating. They met me at the entrance and Joe helped me back my camper up as I'm a bit of a newbie. The site was spacious and clean and the property very well taken care of. It sits right next to a creek and there is a nice little path they made to walk down along it with a canopy and chairs if you want to sit and relax. The location is just outside of Ranier NP and Packwood is a great spot to hangout after a day of exploring/hiking. I cannot say enough good things about Shelly and Joe.. they gave me plenty of privacy, but also checked in to make sure I had everything I needed and recommended different trails and parks to visit during my stay. They were so warm and welcoming I did not want to leave, but will definitely be back!

Upon arriving, our experience was amazing. The hosts welcomed us and our three kids with sincerity and humor, and stayed attentive our entire stay. We had our 30’ fifth wheel. The grounds are lovely. The view from our Rv was serene and the short walk along the river, amazing! Will definitely return!

Butter Creek RV site was a perfect getaway. The hosts helped us select the perfect spot and position our RV to maximize our view of the creek. We loved listening to the creek throughout the night. The site was level, gravel all around with plenty of room to maneuver. The hosts stopped by just to make sure we were enjoying our stay and chat about dogs :). I would recommend an extra-long sewer hose connection. The utilities are on the river-side of the site, which has the hook-ups running under the RV. This RV site is wonderful and would highly recommend it.

A special spot

We throughly enjoyed our stay. Quiet spot except the sound of water rushing through Butter Creek. We opened up our 5th Wheel each night just so we could get full effect . Spent an afternoon sitting in the creek with the hot July temps. Host Shelly and husband could not have been more accommodating or insightful of the local area. Should our travels ever take us through the area we will plan a few days at this location can not pas it up.

Great camping spot! I just wish we had more time to stay here and explore the area. Shelly and her husband were both so nice and accommodating. We enjoyed having access to the river and our kids loved playing in it even though it was chilly. It was an easy in and out with our 41 ft 5th wheel and only a 15-20 minute drive to Mt Rainier National Park.

Great camping experience, I will stay again and I hope many times to come. The property is very clean it had sewer, water, and 30-50 amp service. The river access was perfect. We went it was 90+ degrees and we had fun playing in water with granddaughter then up to the trailer for some AC. Hiked to a water fall from the campsite, and drove into town, this was a great site.

This was a great find. Great camp hosts, they both checked on us numerous times. Joe even gave some really helpful hints on our elderly pet. Shelly went out of her way to show my granddaughter and I a path to a really cool waterfall. Highly recommended we plan on coming back
