What a local gem this place is!! I only live 30 mins from here, yet it's a world away from crowded suburban neighborhoods. My short weekend on a solo campout in this gorgeous spot was heavenly, and as a solo woman, it felt very safe and was quietly serene. Virginia was a joy to talk with, and otherwise let me enjoy my silent happy place. I highly recommend bringing a hammock with tree straps and a small amount of firewood. I'll definitely be back here again someday!

Great spot to disconnect for the weekend! Steve and Virginia are very warm and welcoming. Areas were well kept: bathhouse had a nice clear mirror (rare for a bathhouse), table and campfire are very clean, creek (with a small spring!) is full of tadpoles, and there's lots of different birds and critters to spot. Would recommend

Lovely little place to camp—super accommodating! The bathroom/shower hut was so nice, and having a toilet was such a great convenience. There was a bit of a smell, possibly from livestock, and the stagnant water from the creek was slightly stinky. The neighbors' dogs were a little noisy as well. However, these small cons shouldn't deter you from staying here. It was a delightful experience at a fair price! My wife and I will certainly stay again! Thanks, Steve and Virginia!

This site was absolutely magical! I stayed at Happy Acres during my first ever solo trip and I felt so safe there. Virginia met me at arrival and showed me around, and then checked in on me to make sure my trip had gone well. The site was very well maintained and very clean. I also got to see fireflies for the first time in years during my stay. It was an amazing trip and I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here!

If you are seeking a quiet get away, this is the place! This is my second stay at happy acres and I have fallen more in love with pace from my first visit. Virginia, my wonderful hostes, welcomed me personally into the space and made me feel at home before giving me space to have my experience. The land is phenomenal full of beauty words cannot express. From the lightning touched trees to the humble fire pit/picnic area, every inch is amazing. I will come to this land regularly, and I recommend you visit to experience the quiet beauty here. Such a beautiful and peaceful get away. Private, -and secluded even though it's so close to town. The hosts were generous and mindful. We received lovely introduction and tour, then had the rest of the time to ourselves. I can't recommend this place enough.

One of the best spots we’ve camped at! Peaceful doesn’t begin to describe this secluded little oasis. Meeting Steve and Virginia was such a pleasure and hearing how they’ve created their serene environment was so special. The creek brought endless fun and discovery to our 2 year old and we can’t wait to come back!

The campsite was absolutely lovely - well cared for with great amenities. I loved the bamboo maze and the access to the creek. The hosts really did everything they could to make their land and the campsite something special. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to camp here again because of the incessant barking of the next door neighbor's dogs.

This camp site was wonderful from beginning to end. The land itself is beautiful with many nice trees and a small creek full of frogs. The picnic/fire pit area was incredible, I spent a fair bit of my evening by a nice fire. The restroom and shower facility was very nice, well kept, and clean.
I met Virginia at arrival then got settled in. Virginia was incredibly welcoming and kind, she even showed my about the property and made sure I was comfortable in the site.
I highly recommend this camp site to anyone seeking a private retreat with some incredible beauty. I will definitely camp here again, and I greatly look forward to it.

This spot fulfilled all of my 5-year-old’s camping dreams (and all of my needs for a few comforts of home!)
1. Nice fire pit = s’mores galore!
2. Well maintained campsite and paths to the creek = he could help set up the tent and draw a map of the site. He loved exploring the trail and searching for tadpoles in the water while I relaxed and read.
3. Clean bathroom and nice sink! This made the trip very easy. Such a clean space with nice sparkly lights that came on at night! I was glad I brought some Castile soap and a hand towel, but sanitizer and toilet paper was provided.
Virginia was so kind to greet us and show us the property, plus made sure all went well the next morning (and showing the kiddo some amazing fossils!). This was the perfect spot for camping as a family for the first time! We lucked out with perfect weather, clear skies, and bluebonnets to greet us, too. I’d definitely recommend this spot to friends looking for an easy and welcoming campsite. Definitely dogs barking in the background but far off enough that it didn’t disturb our sleep, but light sleepers might want earplugs.

My husband and I (and our campervan) enjoyed the well designed space (bamboo grove, creek access, super nice bath house, meadow and picnic table) as a weekend base to explore Balcones Canyonlands Nat’l Wilderness Refuge and Flat Creek Estate Winery.

The minute you set foot on this property you can see all the hard work Steve and Virginia put into it. The upkeep is immaculate. It’s not just a random pasture they’re renting out to make a few bucks- this spot was designed to welcome guests down to every detail. It’s fully fenced in and gated so I felt very safe, which means a lot to me as a veteran and woman. There is only one campsite, it’s just you. The bathhouse is BEAUTIFULLY designed and well built, and I was very pleasantly surprised by a regular flushing toilet, extra large sink, big mirror and shower. I did a full face of makeup for no reason just bc I wanted to spend time in the bathhouse. 😂 The shower is cold but I set up my Mr. Buddy heater inside and it was nice. There’s a little pathway with steps down to a gorgeous clear limestone creek, and Virginia showed me some spots to hang a hammock. She stopped by in the morning to check on me and we had a wonderful conversation about the monarch butterflies and then went on our way- perfect amount of hospitality and not overbearing at all. I loved that she was genuinely happy I was there. Zero cell service which I found really nice, since I tend to get sucked into my phone. My only regret is I couldn’t spend much time at the site bc I had a ton of online homework due so I needed wifi. But even just sleeping here was wonderful for my mental health. I can’t wait to come back!

Private creek and a bathroom!

This place is great for a first family camping. I knew the creek was dry when I booked for my solo moto camping and I can imagine how much more fun would it be with water. You basically have your own private creek. There is an outdoor bathroom with a sink, a toilet and a shower - great if you don't really enjoy totally primitive camping. I will definitely come back with my family when the creek comes back!

Hidden magic in Hill country!

This was hands down one of the nicest camp spots we've ever visited! Virginia was waiting to welcome us as we pulled up, and she brought us to our secluded little spot down the bluebonnet trail. What a treat! Well maintained, clean commode, and what Virginia calls "barefootable".
My shoes came off as soon as camp was set up, and stayed off the entire stay.
Everywhere you go, the property is magical. The private creek was sparkling, the bamboo forest was winding, and the birds were always singing. There is tons of plant diversity, and delicious wild onions all over. If you come during wildflower season, this is a darling place for your annual bluebonnet photos! Bring chairs to sit in the spring-fed creek while the little ones splash in the water and count dragonflies. There's even a swing that was perfect for (5'2") me. I felt like a little kid again, tucked up with my book, swinging, and listening to the babbling creek. After our dip in the creek, we were able to take refreshing showers!
The site is off of a country road, but felt very secluded and quiet. We lost service about 10 minutes from the site, but if you forget any provisions, the convenience store is less than 15 minutes away. We were under a burn ban, so we couldn't use the (incredibly clean and maintained!) fire pit, but we had plenty of space to set up our stove and cast iron to cook a healthy meal. We can only imagine how magical the stay would've been with a fire!

Perfect little spot, very well-maintained, clean, and peaceful. Steps from a clear water creek. Nice outdoor bathroom, sparkling clean, thoughtful touches. Feels very remote but in reality you're only about 10 min or less from 183 in Leander. Only downsides were a dog next door that barked a fair amount (warned about this in location description) and surprisingly there was some considerable air traffic noise late into the night. Hosts provide a baggie full of fresh ear plugs if needed. These were minor issues for me but light sleepers beware.

Great little campsite! The land is well kempt, and the bathroom with running water is nice to have. I stayed here with my 8-year-old, and we had a wonderful time exploring trails, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping in our tent.

Nice campsite!
I spent 4 nights at this nice campsite. The small creek, flush tower, cold-water shower, picnic table, short trails through the bamboo, and fire pit are great features. Excellent hosts! Spotlessly clean and mowed.
My GPS "lied" to me because there is no cell service (ATT) in the immediate area. Make sure you know how to find the entrance without your phone working! Cell service works about 1/2 mile away from the site.
As others have noted, barking dogs in the neighborhood may be annoying to people not used to such background noise. I have yappy dogs myself, so it wasn't a big deal to me. YMMV.
