This little slice of heaven would seemingly appear it is not real. The expansive views, the vault of stars, all sing glory. Richard is a true gentleman of a host. Highly recommend experiencing.

The perfect spot to entertain a 3 & 5 year old! We had access to a shed filled with games, toys, and kiddie pools. The kids loved the playground equipment and the swings. We took our dogs on several walks along a wide mowed trail around the property. Bathrooms were spotless. Always thankful for property owners who allow us to stay and enjoy their property!

We had a fantastic stay at Family Camping, specifically at the Slice of Solitude site! We brought our RV and were very pleased with the full hookups available, which made everything convenient and stress-free.
The campground has a great balance of relaxation and recreation. There are playgrounds for the kids, a volleyball court, and even a shed stocked with activities to keep everyone entertained. The pavilion with electricity was a great bonus for gathering, and the bathrooms with showers were clean and easily accessible.
What really made this trip stand out for us was the open land and trails for riding go-karts — something we were hoping to find when looking for a campground. On top of that, the atmosphere truly felt like camping, while still offering the comfort of modern amenities.
We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Family Camping if you’re looking for a campground that has both a classic camp feel and plenty of activities for all ages!

What a beautiful location! We car-camped this weekend and were so happy here! Rick was very welcoming and provided a helpful sheet featuring the amenities. This is a very large well-groomed field with open camping and has a proper pad for RV with electric and another pad close by (no electric, but perfect for our cars). It has a very large pavilion with tables (could seat 100?), big playground with tetherball as well as a shed full of games (corn hole, frisbee, bocce, etc.). A comfortable and very clean bath house (electricity, shower, 2 stalls, 2 sinks) was much appreciated.
We were mostly by ourselves, but this place could accommodate a very large group gathering.

This was our second time at a Slice of Solitude. We come for the solitude. Staying here is amazingly peaceful but there are also lots of outdoor activities for your enjoyment if you want with any necessary equipment easily accessible. We very much hope to return. An idyllic spot.

Clean, quiet and level! The new bathhouse is very, very nice.. clean and hot showers. The host was very welcoming and checked in numerous times to be sure everything was great.

What an absolutely beautiful property! Every inch of it was meticulously maintained—especially the bathrooms, which were spotless. There were so many activities to choose from: a shed full of games, corn hole, bocce ball, a sand volleyball court, soccer field with goal posts, playground, huge pavilion, fire pit—you name it, they have it. You truly never need to leave the property.
We loved simply exploring the grounds and hiking the peaceful trails with our dog. It was the perfect place to unplug and recharge for a couple of days while soaking in the natural beauty all around us.
“Slice of Solitude” truly lived up to its name. Thank you for your warm hospitality and for sharing this little haven with us!

This site is a gem! We loved having the pavilion and the bathhouse and the walking trail, amenity-wise it’s the best Hipcamp I’ve ever been to. Richard was also an excellent host, making himself available if we needed but also giving us our space. You can see his house from the site but it’s pretty far so it feels very private.
We were just two adults and two dogs and had a great time, but this would be an AMAZING spot to camp with kids because of all the games and the playground. There’s plenty of space for two different groups to be there, we were supposed to overlap with someone else for one night wound up being alone. However, I could see some awkwardness if for instance everyone wanted to use the fire pit or the same hookups at once so if you have a large group I’d recommend just renting out both sites.

This place was secluded and relaxing. I was the only camper that was there so I had the place all to myself. I love how secluded I felt and also how beautiful the views were. This place was well kept, very clean and I love the open grass area next to the forest. My pup and I played fetch all day and she had a blast. Richard also was very responsive with messages and even stopped by to make sure I had everything I needed. This place was just what I was looking for a nice relaxing weekend to unwind from city life. I will definitely be back!!!!

We had a fantastic time camping at this property. The location was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the mountains. Richard was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the campsite was well maintained. We loved the amount of amenities this property has. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience.

This place was perfect! We met up with two friends and tent-camped on the site. Richard was super helpful and super available and I've never had such a huge, open space for camping. There are only two sites on acres of lawn and the pavilion was an awesome spot for meals and hanging. The bathhouse was also prestine.

Everything went great! Huge area. Very private. Very clean and very new bathrooms with huge shower space. I parked my RV on the asphalt pad. They had a 30 amp service I could plug my RV into and run my AC. This is a great spot for families that's for certain

I really love the idea of this place! It's a beautiful setting with a lot of activities and amenities. The playset was a huge hit with our 5 year old, as well as the balls and games provided in the shed. The land is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We did have a little hiccup with the electrical hookup, but the owner lives on the property and was able to send someone to assist promptly. He also checked on us afterward to make sure everything was good. We did have a few visitors while we were there - a couple of people walking through the property and some kids who wanted to use the volleyball net to play - 2 separate times. We were happy to see the kids playing outside - but just be prepared that the people in the community may come by. Everyone was very nice! The bathrooms are absolutely beautiful and very clean! We would recommend Richard's property - especially for those with children!

What an idyllic space! The stars were amazing, and to top it off there are full well-lit bathrooms with handicap accessible showers. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we'd planned it for longer. We will definitely be back. A special note to tent campers- the camper pads are meant for wheeled campers, not tents. The ground could tear a tent floor. The easy fix is to pitch your tent on the grass, but check with the host as to the spot, you don't want to kill the grass.

This place is amazing. Stayed here three times. Camped out for 3-4 nights with some friends once and had my sons’ birthday party here the last two years. My sons and some of their friends stayed and camped out after the party. Big pavilion with plenty of seating, nice playground, volleyball court, huge open field, shed with four sets of corn hole boards, horse shoes and all kinds of other stuff you can use. Has a nice big fire pit. Also has nice bathrooms. Everything you need and it is secluded and private. Perfect place to camp out or to have a party or reunion. And Richard is a great host.

Although the weather wa cold and rainy, we were able to be outside under the pavilion playing cornhole. The large fire pit gave us heat and space for our whole crew.

Beautiful property, the pictures do not do it justice! Absolutely wonderful host with great communication. There was so many yard games and toys for the kids.... Endless activities to do plus gorgeous trails to explore! We are looking forward to returning soon! 10 out of 10! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

This place was absolutely beautiful, and as it is still being developed, we had it to ourselves. Richard was a superlative host, and I hope to have occasion to visit again on future travels. My only regret is that once the secret of this place gets out, we might not be able to get a reservation there!

Private GIANT platau on top of a mountain. With 360 mountain views. ALOT of rabbits and swllows. Perfect place to lay out a blanket and look at the stars. Water & electric hook up. Host provides alot of options for out door games. 1.2 mile walk into a cute old town. 10 min drive to historic Johnstown.
