Crown Point Camp is the perfect gorge base camp on the Western edge of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, a Gateway to hiking, biking, kayaking, windsurfing and many other Adventures!
Our camp is right off the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway just minutes away from Portland Women's Forum and Crown Point, the Jewel of the Columbia.
Our facilities include an outdoor shower, a solar-powered composting toilet, fresh water, fire pits, and plenty of flat ground surrounded by trees for excellent camping!
Please read this whole message so you are not surprised when you get here!
Note: The use of the sauna, hot tub, and composting toilet are only for Glamp bookings! The campsites and tipi use the port-a-potty and have the use of an on-demand outdoor shower.
Our home and farm is on two acres. Your tent site, is all in our ample acreage.
Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm.
Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. Traffic quiets down after dark and mornings are quite 'chill'.
If you like what you are reading, please feel free to book with us and take off for your bike journey or hiking adventure from here. Wahclella Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Eagle Creek, and Multnomah Falls are among our favorites.
Larch Mt, trails are always great for mushroom hunting or bird watching.
Rick and Ellen are your hosts. We love welcoming fellow travelers!
This campsite offers a unique blend of comfort and nature, with many guests appreciating the glamping facilities like the yurt and tipi, which are described as clean, spacious, and well-equipped. Hosts Rick and Ellen are frequently mentioned for their warm hospitality, adding a personal touch to the stay. Visitors seem to enjoy the farm animals, particularly the friendly goats and chickens, making the experience memorable for families and animal lovers. However, some guests noted the proximity to a road, which can lead to occasional noise, and the lack of privacy between tent sites.
We had a generally nice stay! The tipi itself is beautiful and unique, and the location near the Columbia River Gorge is absolutely perfect.
However, we did run into an issue with the propane heater—the tank was empty when we arrived, so our first night was cold and wet. Once we got propane for the second night, things were much more comfortable, but the tank ran out quickly and there wasn’t a backup available. Also, just a heads up: the tent is quite close to the other campsites, so we were glad there weren’t other campers nearby during our stay.
Overall, this is a really cool tipi in a fantastic spot, but a few improvements—like making sure the propane is stocked and maybe adding a bit more privacy—would make the experience even better!
We came out to glamp for my partner’s birthday and had a wonderful weekend. The property is breathtaking this time of year. Flower trees blooming everywhere. We had everything we needed plus some. Were used to camping camping so we brought way more than we needed on the supplies list. The yurt was stunning and so nice to sleep in. We had a great time exploring the properties offerings including our new goat friends! We will be back! Lovely people own this space. I can’t say enough about how wonderful they were to us. Grateful for the time we got to spend. 10/10 would recommend!!
I loved the tipi, Rick was an awesome host. Provided us with extra propane when ours ran out! Went to check out the nearby waterfalls and it was great! Would definitely recommend/do again!
The campsite hosts were very friendly, and recommended us the best local places to visit. While the campsite is in close proximity to the road, the outdoor shower and sink, and cleanliness of the site easily makes up for it.
The site was really nice. There was some road noise, but it didn’t bother me at all. The outdoor shower was a nice treat and the site was well maintained. I would stay here again for sure. It would be fun to reserve both sites to share with friends.
