Salem Springs at Dexter Run Farms is a separate 100-acre space that provides the opportunity to tent camp or RV/Camper hook up. Rolling farmland covers about 30 acres which gives you beautiful peaceful views during the day and breathtaking sky watching at night. The remaining 70 acres are wooded with many scattered springs that flow from beneath the ground. Our farm and homestead are a secluded nature escape within Meigs County. We have been a working black angus cow farm for over 20 years. While exploring we ask our guests to please close any gate you have opened. Here in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains you are presented with the opportunity to experience the abundance of outdoor activities or bask in the relaxing stillness of the land. Miles of creeks and waterways give you the gift of great kayaking and fishing. Begin your mornings enjoying your coffee, watching the cows graze and the many different birds waking up to the day. Grilling or roasting marshmallows on the open fire pits are a pleasure. Perfect for individual "me-time" retreats or multi generation vacations! Symphonies from the birds, crickets, frogs and animals entertain you daily. But our summer nights surely WOW our guests with the starry nights and lightening bugs. Explore our local Farmer's Markets, several historic towns with shopping, antiquing, artisans and good eateries. Available starting February 1st, 2025, each site has its own electric, sewer and city water hookup. PLEASE note that on the site location map it shows a house sitting in front of sites. There is no home there! This home was removed to create the 3 RV Sites. A Private Pond, Pavillion and hiking trails surround you with peace and quiet. Easy access and entry to each of the sites. The farm has miles of hiking trails and creeks for fishing and kayaking. Close to many State Parks and lakes while only 15 miles to the Ohio River. Hilltop Hideaway

We spent a long weekend at the Hilltop Hideaway and had a peaceful and relaxing time. We have a smaller fifth-wheel, and thanks to the recently cut hay field, we were able to make it down the hill. The first turn on the driveway was a little tricky due to the incline, but raising the ball on our Anderson hitch made leaving easier. The area near the pond was unlevel—if you’re planning to camp there, be ready to feel like you're setting up on the side of a mountain! We ended up finding a better spot a bit farther away but still down the hill. The water in the pond was very low, likely because of the ongoing drought. We read about frogs with megaphones in other reviews, but apparently, they had the night off during our stay because it was nice and quiet. No barking dogs or traffic noise—just the peaceful sounds of nature. The site was a little overgrown, and the fire pit was made from an old tire rim, which was small but did the job. We saw some cows and two badgers near the pond, which was a fun surprise. We didn’t use the outhouse, but having that option was good. One highlight was visiting the Meigs County Farmers Market by the river, where we picked up delicious breads and wagyu steaks. The clear skies and zero light pollution made for perfect stargazing at night. Overall, we had a good, quiet stay. If you plan to camp right by the water, be prepared for uneven ground near the pond.

Was great time and very enjoyable great setting with the pond and the pavilion with the swing and nice having the outhouse and the train tunnel was a nice ending to the stay thats a few miles away 😀

had a great time staying here. It’s a very private pond and pavilion. These along with the visibility of the stars with no light pollution were great scenery. We laughed about another reviews frogs having megaphones comment the entire stay

Easy to find. Remote. Isolated. No road noise at night. Cows friendly. Couple of the frogs in the pond have megaphones. Would do again.

Overall we had a great experience. The covered dock and pond are beautiful, and the outhouse being on the campsite is very easy to access. Unfortunately, we paid for firewood and only had plywood and some very large pieces of wood, and the green area is on a slant so setting the tent up on a flat surface was nearly impossible. I would visit again if I had the opportunity to come in a small RV. Another high note, though, was the sounds of nature all day and night, as well as the stunning view of the night sky. The pond ecosystem was thriving and we sat and just watched the critters existing for hours. Very serene, incredibly private, just bring bug spray.

Hilltop Hideaway

Beautiful area. Very peaceful. However, I did ask the host if there would be cell service before I booked and replied yes. And of course, I did not. So maybe it’s only certain carriers. Normally, I wouldn’t mind this at all but I needed to download some maps before heading out for a backpack trip the following morning and those were important so I was a little bummed there. Also, and I hate to complain because these aren’t deal breakers by any means, but I added the $5 charge for a bundle of wood. And he sent a message that there should be some fire would there and if I needed any help to let him know. So I didn’t need to pay extra for it if it was already there. Well there wasn’t like a fresh bundle there and all the wood that was there was really wet and since I didn’t have service, I couldn’t exactly ask for fresh wood even though I paid for it. Not too big of deal but I shouldn’t have paid the extra $5 and luckily I had some in my car anyways. All in all beautiful place and I would definitely come back again.

Best Hipcamp Yet!

Hilltop Hideaway

We ended off our weeklong road trip with two nights at the hilltop hideaway and it was more than we could ask for. Beautiful views of the farm and cows as well as a nice pond to relax by. It was relaxing to hear the spring peepers at night. Adam was an excellent host, very responsive, and even let us hike on his nearby farm that has miles of beautiful and well maintained trails. Had an amazing time here and hope to come back in the future!

although we didn't get to stay at the hilltop campsite do to a lil construction, Adam was great by setting us up at another spot The wooded Hideaway. it was great, nice and secluded with a pond and amenities to enjoy it (boats, fishing gear and more). the actual campsite was a short walk away from the pond and outhouse, and close to a nice trail path to explore. we had a very peaceful stay, even got to meet the Adams dog who is very big but friendly! over all beautiful stay!

Hilltop Hideaway

We had a great time camping on Adam's land. Our site was very private with small pond. They built a cover deck with porch swing so you can relax and look at the water.. The night views were amazing.
