Earn this patch by being the first to spend a night outside at a new Hipcamp.

Nomadic camping

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

50 acres total located in the Appalachian foothills. Just a few miles away from the Helmick mill covered bridge. On site, there is a 3 acre spring fed pond with fish. Trails, fields and wooded camping. Atvs and swimming at your own risk. No atvs on damn or bridge please. Fishing is catch and release or prepare on site. Boats are allowed, but no gas engine. You may also use the pedal boats on site. Please be aware of stumps just below the waters surface throughout the entire pond, so no diving or jumping off the boats into the water. No pets. A fire ring is available upon request if you do not have one. Part of the site was also the entrance and office of a coal mine in the 1950s. Please avoid the old building foundation. There is just enough room by the house for a smaller RV or trailer to turn around and park. The hill is a bit steep going into the fields, but there have been RVs and also low riding vehicles that can make it as long as it is dry.Flat area next to small creek, leading into pond.
