CALLING ALL ANIMAL LOVERS! Welcome to Valais When you stay at VDR&R, you get so much more than your typical camping trip, you're getting a truly magical and unforgettable, dopamine-boosting experience unlike no other, that will have you returning again and again! :) Hi! We are Lolly & Eric Clough, and we named our ranch after the Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep (a.k.a. "The World's Cutest Sheep!") If you've never heard of this ADORABLE breed of sheep, you absolutely MUST. GOOGLE. THEM... and like so many others, you will fall in love just like we did - so much so that we became part of the official breed-up program to bring this wonderful breed to the U.S.! (You're welcome!) :) We currently have 10 wonderful Valais Blacknose sheep and lambs! We also have 3 adult Nigerian Dwarf goats, 4 baby goats, the sweetest miniature donkey you'll ever meet, named "Walther," and a shy mini horse named "Harry Houdini!" :) All of our animals have free-range of our property during the day, but are penned up at night to keep them safe. *** IMPORTANT TO NOTE: We strongly recommend bringing ear buds/plugs to block out the barking of our LGDs (livestock guardian dogs) through the night. They're just doing their job, but if you're not used to it, you may not sleep very well, so please bring ear buds or plugs! They absolutely love people, so they may get curious and try to come hang out with you in your tent! Because of this, we can provide you with a spray water bottle to keep them away from your tent. It's an unharmful way to keep them at bay, so please let us know if you'd like to have it on hand during your stay. Additionally, we strongly recommend bringing boots for walking around on the farm, as well as clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Especially in rainy weather, the grounds can get very muddy, and beware of animals who sometimes jump when greeting guests! Please do not hesitate to scold any of the animals should they jump on you! They are sometimes overly friendly and need to be reminded to mind their manners! *** Come pitch your tent (or rent one of ours, subject to availability!) on the grass or on the wooden deck near the edge of our pond, or walk our beautiful 19 grassy and wooded acres to find your favorite spot to set up camp. During your stay, feel free to explore our property, do some fishing (bring your own gear!) or just relax by the pond, get to know our friendly animals, take a snooze in our hammock (coming soon!), feed the chickens, turkeys and ducks, pet our loving LGDs, pose for professional pictures while snuggling with our sheep, goats, mini donkey and mini horse, make your own pizza in our DIY outdoor brick oven stove, (coming soon!) then start a campfire and enjoy s'mores, before settling in for a cozy night under the stars!

Pick Your Plot!

(3)
Tent site · Sleeps 8
"Pick Your Plot" is exactly as it sounds. It means that your campsite is located wherever you choose to set up camp on our 19 fenced acres. Pitch your tent in an open grassy space, find a clearing in the woods, or claim our popular decksite by the pond. Upon your arrival, we can walk the property with you to point out some prime locations, or you are welcome to scope out your favorite location on your own. Our only request is that you notify us of your chosen spot so we can make sure it is safe for you.  Should you find a spot that requires some clearing out of leaves, branches, etc. you are welcome to borrow our rakes and/or shovel, if needed. Just text us any requests, and we'll do our best to accommodate! You're welcome to bring your camper to stay in, however, please note that we do not have RV hookups. Campers are only allowed in certain areas, which we will go over with you at check-in. A compost toilet is available, which we will setup inside a popup tent near your campsite. If there are multiple campers staying during the same time period, we will set it up at a central location accessible to all campsites. Everyone is required to remove their compost bag and dispose of it after each use of the compost toilet. You are welcome to bring your own compost toilet as well, so long as all waste is securely bagged and removed from the premises (along with all trash) upon checkout.

Lolly & Eric Clough, the heart and soul behind the Middleton, TN ranch, embarked on a unique journey inspired by the irresistibly adorable Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep – appropriately hailed as the "World's Cutest Sheep." Unable to resist their charm and faced with the inability to import the breed, Lolly's persistence led them to join the official breed-up program - an opportunity to be part of history in the making by helping to bring the Swiss breed to the U.S. This journey marked the beginning of their Valais Blacknose adventure. Nestled on 19 picturesque acres with sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks and more, they envisioned more than just a home for their adorable "fur" babies. Determined to share the joy, they transformed their property into a free-range petting zoo campground, inviting guests to experience the joys of camping amidst their friendly free-range animals, including the charming Valais Blacknose sheep and their lovable lambs. Beyond providing a unique and unforgettable getaway experience, the Cloughs believe in giving back. Fueled by a desire to support survivors of human trafficking, they founded "Serenity for Survivors," a (pending) 501c3 nonprofit. This initiative offers free weekend retreats, combining the tranquility of their ranch and animals with the opportunity for survivors to find healing, solace and renewal. At Valais Dream Ranch & Retreat, Lolly & Eric invite you to be a part of their story – a story of lovable snuggly sheep, magical getaways, and a commitment to making a positive impact on lives. Come meet their lovely creatures, share in their passion, and join them in supporting those in need. Discover the charm, find serenity, and create lasting memories at Valais Dream Ranch & Retreat.
