Perched high above the surrounding hills, this property is known locally as Robber’s Roost. Legend has it that the infamous stagecoach bandit Black Bart once watched the road from this very hilltop, waiting for the stagecoach to pass below before making his move. Some say he intercepted it after the coach stopped at the old Boomer Shine Mill, perhaps giving the riders a little “liquid courage” before continuing their journey. These days, the only thing being held up here is time itself—though we still enjoy perching on the hill and getting high while watching the sunset. Guests come to Robber’s Roost to breathe the fresh coastal air, take in incredible sunsets, and enjoy the privacy and seclusion of the land. It’s a quiet place to relax, laugh with friends, and appreciate the wide-open views. We are marijuana-friendly, and the vibe here is mellow and adult-oriented. Because of that, this may not be the best fit for young children unless they’re accompanying easygoing adults who are comfortable with the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with a bit of outlaw history, big skies, and unforgettable sunsets, Robber’s Roost might be just your kind of hideout.

The highest camp! Perfect for groups who want to make a little noise. Its very secluded. Breathtaking sunsets and views. There is a redwood pergola stage as well as convenient water and restroom. I do require a message to let me know your intentions prior to booking, There is a mix of open, sunny flat areas to camp as well as forested sites adjacently located.
